Rated 5 out of 5 by RichG Very good dog food
My wife and I became vegetarian a long time ago for health reasons, but we were feeding our dog food with meat in it. Because we can't be certain what kind of meat is in dog food and have a pretty good idea it's not the quality we would want, we thought that a quality vegetarian food would be best. Of course we want her to have the same health benefits as us. She's been eating this food for a year now and is very healthy and loves it. We add low salt vegetable broth to soften it a bit too. She loves fresh fruit and vegetables too!

Dogs are omnivores, which is a fact often forgotten
in a market full of so many High Protein foods.
It often seems that the higher the quality, the less fruits and grains that are present in the food.
Too high of a protein diet can stress the kidneys
of dogs and I have three. My oldest dog, Cyclone, an
English Setter, is 14.5 years old and his life expectancy is 12 years old. He had Hemangioperiocytoma cancer at five, which was removed. The only treatment was the removal of this tumor and a decided commitment to high nutrition, no chemicals on grass and proper exercise.
Since then, I have fed him a high end dog food, which is not high protein, with additional fruits and grains. His kidney function is still fine, even pushing 100 in dog years. His weight is the low end of normal and he still walks 2 miles daily. This food mixed with a High End, not High protein dog food is working well for him and my other two dogs. I do not feed it alone. I mix it in WITH the other food. All three dogs are doing well with this mix. their coats are beautiful. The ingredients, honestly are top quality.

I just wish they would make big bags at an affordable cost! I have many dogs to feed including 3 Great Danes. Love the food and love Chewy even more:-)

On paper it sounds great - organic, vegetarian, nutritious. My dogs got tired of it before even finishing one 4.4 lb bag. The bag I got was on the last month of it's "best by" date and it had a stale , almost rancid smell to it. Switched to Natural Balance vegetarian and both the dogs and I were much happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by petsforlife Great product
This is def. a great high quality product, it is all organic and healthy! I believe more people should feed their dogs a vegan food; if 100% vegan doesn't work it is simply a health benefit to give this kibble in addition. My dogs had to get used to it, so I mix it with their canned, and the Petguard Vegan canned food is awesome; they love very much! They did not eat it at first, I had to mix it with the regular kibble, but now they are doing just fine. Highly recommended, thank you Petguard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RebelYogiSwamiX Organic is key!
Whether you're interested in a vegetarian formula for your dog because of allergies or ethics, adding pesticides and genetically modified organisms is not the way to go. I think PetGuard claims this product to be 95% organic. Even the eggs are free-range. I don't think there is any competition in dry food that compares to this product--because there is literally no other organic vegetarian dry food out there, at least none that I have found!
