  • We call it the condo!

    By on

We have 2 small dogs and wanted a crate large enough for them to get into during the day. We left the door off, so they can come and go as they please. It is plenty roomy, and I LOVE the extra ventilation slots on the bottom half! Unfortunately, they have dug holes in our furniture, so we have to barricade things if we aren't there to "supervise". We put two soft fuzzy blankets in it, so they have their own cozy place to go to during the day. For those individuals that think it is cruel to "box" a dog, i.e., my SIL, the pups automatically gravitate to their safe zone. I love that is it made in the USA. Seems very sturdy and works for our purposes!

  • Disappointed in Petmate Compass

    By on

Well, this crate was very disappointing. The top and bottom are suppose to just slide and snap. But I was about to give up after an hour. Nothing lined up. Once I did get it together, I tried to use the attached screws and bolts. Not only were the screws too long, but the heads were so narrow, they fell right through the holes in the crates. I would not find this crate safe for car travel, at all. I won't attemp to purchase the Navigator crate either, after this experience, since that, too is a slide and lock. I'll use it in the house for the next couple of months until my puppy grows out of it.

  • Came pre-used or or abused or something...

    By on

It came with a ton of scratches and debris on the top (lid, white part, etc.), like it had been dragged down the street upside down. Or someone had already been using it and returned it and the company just re-packaged it for re-sale. I don't have time to exchange it as I ordered it and need it for this upcoming weekend (It's Tuesday evening right now). Just a little disappointing for the price.

  • We're happy with this purchase

Our dog loves this kennel. Unlike the wire kennel we had, which he never went into, he will sometimes go into this kennel during the day and take a nap. I think maybe it's because this feels more like a den than the open wire kennel. I read some reviews where people had difficulty assembling this kennel, but we found it fairly easy to do, although it's a 2 person operation. The top slides onto the bottom, but it's a tight fit, so someone has to hold the kennel in place while the other person slides it. Our dog weighs 70 lb. and the XL kennel gives him plenty of room to move around. If you are going to put a mat in it, a 36 in. fits well. One negative about Chewy; they advertised free 1-2 day Our dog loves this kennel. We would definitely recommend this kennel. … more

  • LOVE the door

    By on

I love that I can leave the door off during the day and put it on at night without having to unassemble at all. I found that if you assemble it upside down so you can easily see the slide track, it works well but if you are trying to assemble right side up, it doesn't work. I would have preferred a textured plastic on top rather than a glossy one which caused hair to stick to it from static. I miss the seat belt loop but can use the handle for added security to put the seat belt through. I raise King Charles Cavaliers so will be ordering some more of the small size. • Petmate Small and Medium Compass crate

    By on

Overall, this crate is sturdy. However, sliding together is not easy. I finally resorted to vaseline on the sliding parts and then had to use c-clamps to get the back bolt holes to align. Everything else was aligned. The difficulty getting 2 bolt holes to align is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars.

  • Best plastic kennel I've seen

    By on

I needed a kennel for the car with more ventilation (not just the top vents like the ones in the store). So glad I found this one! It is easy to assemble, with fewer screws. Love the door that opens either direction, and easy tie downs at the corners.

  • Can't escape!

    By on

This crate was recommended to me after I asked for help finding something that my dog couldn't escape from. Wire crates were a cinch for her to escape from, even after adding extra metal latches to keep the door shut. Somehow she figured it out in no time and I'd find her on the couch when I came home! So far she seems to like this kennel a lot more. There's less fuss and whining, and her nose, which she'd injured in her escape attempts, has fully healed.

  • Sturdy, well designed crate

    By on

I purchased the intermediate size crate (30-50 lbs) for my growing lab puppy when she weighed 20 lbs. It is perfect for her, and she loves it. There is plenty of room for her to stretch out and grow, yet not too big. It was easy to assemble, it only took me about 5 minutes. We have used wire crates in the past, this crate is much nicer. My full size older lab of 90 lbs even wanted to get inside, but it was def too small for him! It is lightweight, easy to move around, and doesn't leave marks on our floor like the wire ones did. It is also much more eye appealing. It is very sturdy, and perfect for crate training. Very very pleased with chewy.com. … more

  • Favorite Kennel

    By on

We have 3 dogs. We have a medium, large, and "giant" kennel. This is our most recent and favorite kennel. It was easy to assemble. And I like the way the door opens and closes. I prefer the "dial" open style over the squeeze open style. It's the first time we've had one like this and I would look for this style if we need to get another one, as we might if our two youngest dogs don't stop growing. As far as ordering from Chewy, Chewy had the hard to find size at the best price.
