  • Good choice

This item was perfect for my needs. I needed to be away for the weekend, and could not find anyone to feed my outside dogs. This waterer held enough water for both days we were gone, and still had some left in the jug. It was easy to put together and fill. It was not too heavy to carry once the water was added. The measurements worked well for access by my beagle and lab.

  • 4 gallon waterer

    By on

I bought this because I have 3 lab puppies ranging in age of 5 1/2 months to 10 months and you have to be careful with this because at 1/2 full they can tip it. All it takes is one puppy and over it goes. I did not think this would be possible but, I saw it happen. Also when full it is VERY HEAVY when full. They also do not tell you anywhere how often to change the filter! So we went to the website of the waterer and they tell you about every 3 months. One other thing, my puppies drain this at least every day!

  • Good product for large pets

Actually, I would give this Products four stars, or possibly even five, if they provided a 4 gallon waterer in stainless steel, but unfortunately they don't. The problem with these is the bases get chewed up in a relatively short period of time by my French bulldogs. The same basic design with a stainless steel base would be a fantastic option for those of us with many dogs or large dogs that like to chew.

  • Big and awesome doesn't take up alot of room

I free feed my 6 dogs under 12 lbs. and this product is awesome. I can pour almost the whole bag of food. I have fabricated a lid to close of the dish at night as it's heavy to pick up off the floor. Less work

  • It's a squirter!

First let me give the positives about our Petmate Pearl Waterer... the size of the bowl is plenty big enough for our zoo of 2 big dogs and 3 cats! I like the big mouth of the waterer so that I can get my hand inside to clean from time to time! The filter is an added perk if one in concerned about what your animal is drinking! What I don't like is every time I turn the waterer upside down to put into the bowl water squirts out one side of the filter area and gets all over my floor! So just be aware that there may be some spillage. Also you have to make sure that you fit the notched part of the waterer with the notched part of the bowl.

  • Odor creator

Although this works great as an auto water source, after 2-3 days there is a slimy smelly coating in the bowl. The base needs cleaned every day with hot soapy wAter or your house will start smelling like a fish tank.

  • Sturdy, well made product!

    By on

I purchased this product because with six dogs we were filling their water dish about once an hour. This is a great product, it's not flimsy and it's very easy to handle. The only thing I didn't take into consideration was that is you do fill it up a few hours later their is slobber in the bowl portion of it...... but still plenty of water left in the jug. When this happens I just take the jug off, dump out the slobbery water from the bowl. Wash it out, then put the jug back on. I'm glad I only purchased the 2.5 gallon, as I had considered the 4 gallon. Overall, very pleased with purchase.

  • Love the size!

    By on

When I first saw the size of this water bowl I was shocked. But my dog is big and drinks a ton of water. So much that I was tired of filling his bowl every hour. But with this bowl I can refill it once a week and he prefers to drink out it over the other raised bowl next to his food dish.

  • A Great Problem Solver

    By on

I have two small dogs, one of whom is consuming a lot of water. A water bowl just doesn't work for us right now. So, a waterer seemed to be the solution. The waterers I've had in the past were almost impossible to clean. This one not only has a nice wide mouth on the jar for easy cleaning but also has a carbon filter to help clean up the water as it goes from jar to bowl. Easy to clean and fill. 2.5 gallon capacity is enough for my dogs but not so much as to be difficult to carry. Very glad I purchased.

  • Not big enough

    By on

I bought the 2.5 gallon size. The water part is not big enough for my Great Danes, the youngest is 4 months old and it's a tight fit already. But it works for my cats.
