Description

A dog’s natural instinct is to pull when tension is on the lead, even if they are choking. Because standard collars and harnesses create this tension when owners pull, the dog pulls in the opposite direction. Because the Gentle Leader Headcollar works like a halter, the dog’s head is gently moved in the direction the owner wants it to go. And where the head goes, the body will follow. Because of the placement of the nose loop, the dog immediately understands his/her place in the hierarchy. The dog considers the owner his/her leader.

Key Benefits

  • Stops pulling, lunging, jumping, and other unwanted behaviors with immediate, gentle control
  • Adjustable nose loop allows you to direct your dog’s head in the direction you want to go
  • Makes it easy for anyone to walk big or strong dogs
  • Collar sits high on dog’s neck without putting pressure on the throat, places pressure on the back of the neck instead of the front of the delicate throat, preventing choking and coughing.
  • Safe to use on puppies as young as 8 weeks old, can be converted to a regular collar if needed

Enjoy an Easier Walk with Your Pup

If your dog tends to pull on the leash, daily walks can be stressful for both of you. PetSafe's Gentle Leader Headcollar and Easy Walk Harness make the task of walking your dog an enjoyable experience. They give you immediate control and they're comfortable for your pet, unlike standard collars that can cause choking.

Enjoy an Easier Walk with Your Pup
Less Pulling, More Bonding

Less Pulling, More Bonding

Pet parents agree that the Easy Walk Harness makes such a difference that it's like walking a new dog. Instead of pulling your pup's neck, the Easy Walk redirects the entire torso. The leash connects at the chest with a Martingale loop, so a gentle tug moves her whole body in the direction you want to go. Less time playing tug-of-war means more time for bonding with your pet on your walks.

Uniquely Designed for Gentle Control

The Gentle Leader Headcollar puts you, not your eager walking buddy, in control of the walk. The nose loop redirects your dog's head toward you when she pulls. She'll quickly learn that she's not getting anywhere by pulling forward, and you'll have her full attention. The Gentle Leader is ideal for training dogs to heel and teaching them to walk on a leash without pulling.

Uniquely Designed for Gentle Control
Get the Perfect Fit

Get the Perfect Fit

Both the Gentle Leader and Easy Walk come in a variety of sizes to fit any dog comfortably.

The Easy Walk rests across the chest and wraps around the torso. If it looks like a sideways T, you'll know you have the proper fit. With four adjustment points and quick-snap buckles on the shoulder and belly straps, Easy Walk gives a reliable fit.

The Gentle Leader Headcollar slips securely over your dog's nose and sits high on her neck without putting pressure on her throat. It should form a V when fit properly, and your pup will still be able to eat and carry their favorite tennis ball along with them when wearing the Gentle Leader.

  • Best purchase for dog walking eva!

    By on

I worked hard to teach my dog to heel. He is an Aussie and does pretty well...until he sees another dog, a person, a squirrel...etc. Then he lunges ahead, chokes himself to death, and pulls me along. The gentle leader solved that problem. He is still getting used to it but he puts his head right through the nose hoop with a treat waiting. He does not pull at all during walks anymore and is a pleasure to walk..even with other dogs. This is a great tool. I feel better when my friend dog sits too, since she is small and in her 70's. He can't pull her-so much safer.

  • Who's Walking Who

This is a great product. This is the second one we've had. I noticed an extra layer around the muzzle has been added that I think is more comfortable for my dog.

  • Great to stop pulling!

My three dogs all have gentle leaders. I got this one for a friend who has a German Shepherd mix that pulls. She tried one of mine and liked it, so I ordered one for her. Now her father and daughters will be able to walk the dog safely!

  • Gentle leader

    By on

I purchased this for a hundred pound St. Bernard mix that we took over from our son. She was from the pound originally and just a little over the top with his other young dog. She has been walking with it for 4 days and we have seen lots of improvement already. I am 65 and walk her with our Pyrennes mix, so it makes it much easier to walk as she pulled some and is very dog, squirrel reactive.

  • Lives up to its name, Gentle Leader and works beautifully for dogs needing that extra guide to good behavior.

    By on

Gentle Leader comes with a CD that helps in applying it correctly and is easy on both dog and owner in training a dog to walk without heavily pulling and jumping. My 70-lb standard poodle is now a pleasure to walk. The Gentle Leader is comfortable for him and we now can walk with me as leader and the poodle as my walking buddy, rather than the old struggle to stay on my feet.

  • Wish I had used this from the beginning!

I have a 5 year old docile pup who startles easily and for whatever reason behaves differently with other dogs when she's on-leash vs. off-leash. We live in a very dog-friendly neighborhood so it's been a challenge to find the right method to correct her when she lunges at another dog (behavior she never exhibits at her daycare). We tried several other popular collars. I really paid attention to the training DVD and followed it to the letter. We are in week two of training now and she is completely compliant (walks right by my side, no pawing at the leader) about 90% of the time. I believe with my patience (& treats for good behavior) she will learn to self-correct and accept the leader 100% I have a 5 year old docile pup who startles easily and for whatever reason behaves differently with other dogs when she's on-leash vs. off-leash. With the proper fit it's clear to see this IS a totally humane and safe leader. We've used a prong collar and a collar to deliver a vibration/noise and never had these results. I'm just sorry I didn't buy this years ago and so happy I have one now! … more

  • Helps control the dog, but is poor quality

    By on

I was disappointed in the Gentle Leader after hearing some good things about it. It is definitely helpful in controlling my reactive dog, but I only used it a few times before the plastic clasp that holds the dog's nose/muzzle in place snapped off right in my hand. I returned it and will not try it again. I found other reviews of the product elsewhere and saw that several other people experienced same or similar problems. My recommendation is to explore competing products and try to find one that it is more robust.

  • not so good

I thought this would be great for our rescue puppies who are learning leash manners. It is flimsy and would not stay on. Looking in to a sturdier model.

  • Gentle Leader is the BEST for training dogs to walk nicely!

    By on

I LOVE Gentle Leader! It takes a little people training, but once you get used to keeping the lead loose, this is just the easiest way to train a dog to walk nicely by your side. Highly Recommend!
