Description

A dog’s natural instinct is to pull when tension is on the lead, even if they are choking. Because standard collars and harnesses create this tension when owners pull, the dog pulls in the opposite direction. Because the Gentle Leader Headcollar works like a halter, the dog’s head is gently moved in the direction the owner wants it to go. And where the head goes, the body will follow. Because of the placement of the nose loop, the dog immediately understands his/her place in the hierarchy. The dog considers the owner his/her leader.

Key Benefits

  • Stops pulling, lunging, jumping, and other unwanted behaviors with immediate, gentle control
  • Adjustable nose loop allows you to direct your dog’s head in the direction you want to go
  • Makes it easy for anyone to walk big or strong dogs
  • Collar sits high on dog’s neck without putting pressure on the throat, places pressure on the back of the neck instead of the front of the delicate throat, preventing choking and coughing.
  • Safe to use on puppies as young as 8 weeks old, can be converted to a regular collar if needed

Enjoy an Easier Walk with Your Pup

If your dog tends to pull on the leash, daily walks can be stressful for both of you. PetSafe's Gentle Leader Headcollar and Easy Walk Harness make the task of walking your dog an enjoyable experience. They give you immediate control and they're comfortable for your pet, unlike standard collars that can cause choking.

Less Pulling, More Bonding

Less Pulling, More Bonding

Pet parents agree that the Easy Walk Harness makes such a difference that it's like walking a new dog. Instead of pulling your pup's neck, the Easy Walk redirects the entire torso. The leash connects at the chest with a Martingale loop, so a gentle tug moves her whole body in the direction you want to go. Less time playing tug-of-war means more time for bonding with your pet on your walks.

Uniquely Designed for Gentle Control

The Gentle Leader Headcollar puts you, not your eager walking buddy, in control of the walk. The nose loop redirects your dog's head toward you when she pulls. She'll quickly learn that she's not getting anywhere by pulling forward, and you'll have her full attention. The Gentle Leader is ideal for training dogs to heel and teaching them to walk on a leash without pulling.

Get the Perfect Fit

Get the Perfect Fit

Both the Gentle Leader and Easy Walk come in a variety of sizes to fit any dog comfortably.

The Easy Walk rests across the chest and wraps around the torso. If it looks like a sideways T, you'll know you have the proper fit. With four adjustment points and quick-snap buckles on the shoulder and belly straps, Easy Walk gives a reliable fit.

The Gentle Leader Headcollar slips securely over your dog's nose and sits high on her neck without putting pressure on her throat. It should form a V when fit properly, and your pup will still be able to eat and carry their favorite tennis ball along with them when wearing the Gentle Leader.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great training feature This lead is important for me and my dog. Abby loves people and wants to jump on those we pass while walking. This lead keeps her by my side even in a large crowd. August 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chewy is best place to buy Looked for medium size collar in stores and on-line, and Chewy was the ONLY place with multiple colors in this size. Should have started here and saved myself time and aggravation. July 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by A must for walking my Great Dane The Gentle Leader has really been a life saver for me! I love walking my young Great Dane, but as she got bigger it became harder to control her. She is an awesome, well behaved dog, but sometimes when she sees another dog she gets a bit excited and this just reminds her to stay close. She is not at all hesitant to wear it, and stands patiently when I attach it and then we are off for a walk! June 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The gentle leader is awesome!!!! This product definitely keeps my dog from pulling me down the street! I would encourage everyone to purchase one. It took a few days of having it on for short times and progressed in to going for our walks. My best advice is to watch the DVD. It helped me much more than just reading the instructions. Buy one and you will wonder why you didn't do this sooner. May 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Who's walking whom? The fight is over-let peace reign, Oh Gentle Leader. Our generally pacific and sweet 9-year-old mini goldendoodle turned into raw brute power on leash. It was a contest of wills that, mostly, I lost. Not any more. Once he got used to the strap around his snout (even though it's loose and doesn't inhibit any mouth action, dogs don't like it at first. Who would?) he calmed right down. Magically, we walk in step, there's no pulling, dragging, or dislocating body parts-- mine or his. It's a pleasure for both of us. I don't know why it took me so long to get the Gentle Leader for him (a high duh! factor here). Got one for our rambunctious 6-month-old Havanese puppy, too. Though he's still hypnotized by the wondrous smells of city streets, he's figured out pulling to get his nose right up in them isn't gonna work. He's morphed into an easy-going, happy walking companion. October 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by For a pleasant walk please use! I have used this product on many the difficult walker. It is awesome, especially for those who aren't strong enough to get dragged around by their pup. It has worked on both my great dane and little dog alike (along with my parents dogs of which they have 3). The only downfall can be an adjustment period for the stubborn pups... they may try to scratch it off their nose as they're not used to it but just keep walking! I promise it will work but you have to take the lead. It is not meant to be tight (this is not a muzzle) but creates a harness that when they pull turns their head back toward you and off-puts their forward motion. No torture or strong-arm needed ;o) August 29, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK but not great I was searching for something other than the Halti headcollar I was using because my dog is constantly trying to rub it off and hates wearing it, although it does a reduce pulling greatly. The gentle leader is less offensive to my dog to wear, but it twists and doesn't prevent pulling quite as effectively. It is a great backup, but not our go-to walking gear. I do like it comes in other than black. November 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more pulling Our 8month old black lab used to pull until I thought my arm would leave my shoulder. Not any more! September 18, 2014
