We go through tennis balls for our lab like crazy. And we don't let him have them unless we are playing fetch with him. But we were persistent and didn't give in and he finally decided he would fetch this ball on the first throw. It took maybe 5 days of him needing lots of praise and encouragement and us throwing it and retrieving it ourselves and then he would start retrieving it. Now he just goes after it first throw. It was worth the effort and praise we gave him whenever he picked it up. I was so tired of spending money on tennis balls all the time. … more

  • Only ball dog will use

    By on

I got this ball at first as a gift for my dog, and she fell in love with it. She never played fetch before this ball, and once she got it she couldn't stop or put it down. She isn't a very aggressive chewer but she killed this ball within 2 weeks, of only supervised fetch sessions about once a day. She is a stuffy mix and has strong jaws, but this ball just couldn't stand up to even playing fetch. I will be buying it again since she loves it SO much, but it hurts having to spend 12$ for a ball that maybe last two weeks when we only use it for fetch, for about 20 minutes a day.

  • Favorite ball

This is a replacement tennis ball for one that I lost. My border collie loves this ball! I use it instead of a regular tennis ball. It also fits perfectly into the Chuckit ball launcher. I will definitely be purchasing a few more in case I lose another one.

  • AWESOME

Friends and I bought these for the local Humane Society play yards. However have had some for my Standard Poodle since he was 8 months old and he is now 12 1/2 and the ball looks the same as when we bought it!!

  • Good for average chewer

    By on

I have a young pit mix who loves to play ball but also likes to chew. She can destroy an average ball after just a few uses. This ball "gives" and is a nice size and a great color--easy to find. My pup hasn't destroyed it yet but is starting to crack it. It is also slick so I use a garden glove to throw it. Probably wouldn't last long with a dedicated "chewer"!

  • Not sturdy as the other balls

    By on

I bought this for my power chewer pit bull and it only last 3 days before the ball felt apart. I thought it was durable as the other Planet dog balls and I was disappointed.

  • Not Durable, Coating Comes Off

    By on

There is a yellow rubber-like coating over the ball that came off in chunks when my dog was playing with this.

  • Not that Tuff

He chewed through this faster than a regular tennis ball.

  • Good substitute for felt tennis balls.

We received this ball as a gift - I don't buy from this company because of a bad customer service experience with another toy, however, I plan to make an exception and buy more tennis balls in the future.

  • Nice ball as long as dog isn't a heavy chewer

    By on

My biggest problem with any ball is the hole it typically has. If it has a hole then the challenge begins. My lab mix gets her teeth in and around the hole enough to start biting off bits. Once that happens the ball is done for. Time frame = 5 minutes if she is allowed to keep the ball. Definitely would not recommend this ball to a large dog!
