Description

Food sensitive dogs can benefit from Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA Hydrolyzed Canine Formula, a unique vegetarian dog food that features simple proteins and low-allergen carbohydrates designed to minimize the risk of food allergic reactions. It offers dietary benefits that provide optimal nutrition while meeting your adult dog's or growing puppy's special needs.

Key Benefits

  • Food sensitivities generally appear in pets as gastrointestinal upset and/or intense scratching or itching. It can develop at any life stage, even after eating the same food for years without problems. Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA has been specifically formulated to help manage food sensitivities with a single protein source.
  • This vegetarian formula contains a single hydrolyzed protein source that is highly digestible for optimum nutrient absorption. Hydrolyzing means that the protein has been broken down into smaller components, specifically an average molecular weight below 12,200 daltons. Because of this, it's less likely to cause a negative response in your food-sensitive pup.
  • A single, low allergen carbohydrate source is included to minimize the risk of food related reactions. It's a source of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) which don't require energy for absorption, use, or storage.
  • Suited for dogs that have food allergic gastroenteritis or dermatitis, food intolerance, inflammatory bowel disease, or pancreatitis.
  • Made in the USA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My allergic to EVERYTHING dog loves this! I adopted my dog, Ellie, (Whippett - lab mix) about a year ago, and she scratched herself constantly, to the point she had raw wounds on her body. We ran some tests with my vet, and it turns out she has a very severe allergy to just about everything, (especially meat proteins)! She now takes immunotherapy twice daily and Apoquel, (the Apoquel works wonders!) And though these have helped some, she still scratches. I tried a novelty meat dog food with Kangaroo, and the itching did not subside or lessen. Then I switched her to this Purina Pro Plan vegetarian formula, (she is still transitioning over from the Kangaroo formula) and I can already see a difference where she is not scratching as much, as often! So far so good, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping once we are fully transitioned over to this food, the problem we be taken care of! And, very importantly, she LOVES this food! I was concerned it may be too bland and she wouldn't take to it, but she loves it, prefers it to the Kangaroo formula food, and eats them as treats also!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better for my Frenchie than more expensive Prescription Diet s/d The S/D by caused bowel problems. The Purina HA seems to be compatible with his system. Normal, though odd colored!, bowel movements. We will reorder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Labs are always hungry My lab enjoys the taste, but it does not satisfy her hunger. (Labs are always hungry). My vet put her on this food to get rid of her chronic ear infection. She has only been on this brand for two weeks so I haven't noticed any change in her ear. Very expensive food when you have a large dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but worth it. I purchased this food on the advice of my vet. My dog was diagnosed with a rare diabetes insipidus. The food is supposed to help him put on some weight while also being easy on his GI tract. He has been on it 2 weeks and I see a visual difference. He was a little leary of it at first but I made a game of it and in about 5 minutes it was his new favorite friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Dig Food I have a female boxer which I had nothing but troubles with her stomach and everytime she got to throwing up we had to take her to the vets for med and shots to calm her down. The vet told me to get this food and she has been super good since.
