Description

Food sensitive dogs can benefit from Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA Hydrolyzed Canine Formula, a unique vegetarian dog food that features simple proteins and low-allergen carbohydrates designed to minimize the risk of food allergic reactions. It offers dietary benefits that provide optimal nutrition while meeting your adult dog's or growing puppy's special needs.

Key Benefits

  • Food sensitivities generally appear in pets as gastrointestinal upset and/or intense scratching or itching. It can develop at any life stage, even after eating the same food for years without problems. Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA has been specifically formulated to help manage food sensitivities with a single protein source.
  • This vegetarian formula contains a single hydrolyzed protein source that is highly digestible for optimum nutrient absorption. Hydrolyzing means that the protein has been broken down into smaller components, specifically an average molecular weight below 12,200 daltons. Because of this, it's less likely to cause a negative response in your food-sensitive pup.
  • A single, low allergen carbohydrate source is included to minimize the risk of food related reactions. It's a source of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) which don't require energy for absorption, use, or storage.
  • Suited for dogs that have food allergic gastroenteritis or dermatitis, food intolerance, inflammatory bowel disease, or pancreatitis.
  • Made in the USA!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 113 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by The food has been well received by my dog Chewy has been terrific to work with. Their customer service is not only knowledgeable but also attentive to customer needs. October 26, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Seems to work but not satisfying my Great Dane! I have a 6mo Great Dane puppy. After 3 months of running stools and bad rashes and going through many top brand expensive foods, this food finally did the trick. Stools are back to normal and his rash is almost gone. It took 3 wks for skin rash improvement though. Which the vet says is normal. My only issue is that he's not ever satisfied after eating. He started out eating 4 cups in the morning and 4 at night. (He's 100lbs already). Then we went to 5. Then 6 and now 7. He is always hungry and getting more aggressive with our food. He needs more substance. That's my only concern and would consider switching because we go through a bag too fast. Also, he'll only eat it if I mix in some water. Weird but true. But it works for all his allergies and tummy issue! September 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great service and price My Cavalier King Charles needs this food per his vet's advice. Chewy immediately got his prescription from the vet and had the bag delivered to us on the date promised. No muss; no fuss. It was also on sale, which really helps alot (although my dog is small and a 25 pound bag should last a very long time). October 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Help our dogs weight loss Our dog had a bowel disorder and was losing weight fast. We tried another prescription dog food without any results. Once we tried this product our dog began absorbing nutrients again and gained all his weight back. The price is well worth it. If your Vet recommends Hydrolyzed dog food, I would highly recommend this product. September 29, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for our whippet Our whippet puppy has had problems with runny poos for almost three months. She is about 11 months old now. We tried several different dry dog foods. We tried food with different protein sources as well as limited ingredients without corn. After additional blood work at the vet's, it was recommended that we try this. Within three days her poop problems were gone. She was itching as well, so we are still waiting to see if this food clears up this problem. I heard it could take several weeks for this to improve. Rated 5 out of 5 by My allergic to EVERYTHING dog loves this! I adopted my dog, Ellie, (Whippett - lab mix) about a year ago, and she scratched herself constantly, to the point she had raw wounds on her body. We ran some tests with my vet, and it turns out she has a very severe allergy to just about everything, (especially meat proteins)! She now takes immunotherapy twice daily and Apoquel, (the Apoquel works wonders!) And though these have helped some, she still scratches. I tried a novelty meat dog food with Kangaroo, and the itching did not subside or lessen. Then I switched her to this Purina Pro Plan vegetarian formula, (she is still transitioning over from the Kangaroo formula) and I can already see a difference where she is not scratching as much, as often! So far so good, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping once we are fully transitioned over to this food, the problem we be taken care of! And, very importantly, she LOVES this food! I was concerned it may be too bland and she wouldn't take to it, but she loves it, prefers it to the Kangaroo formula food, and eats them as treats also! January 22, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Still Trying! First I would like to say how pleased I am with the Chewy website and their customer service. It is outstanding! As far as this product, while it did not work for my Westie, it may be a great product for other owner's dogs who are experiencing IBD issues. My Westie has suffered with the IBD issues for a number of years and I will continue to try and find a product that will work for him. Again, I'm not criticizing Purina (I use another one of their products for our other Westie and it works fine). We'll just keep trying! August 30, 2016
