Description

For dogs with kidney problems, Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Kidney Function Canine Formula offers balanced nutrition to help support the kidneys. NF is formulated with low sodium, phosphorus and protein to help reduce the workload on the kidneys and help dogs with kidney problems feel better. It offers dietary benefits that provide optimal nutrition while meeting your adult dog's special needs.

Key Benefits

  • Kidney disease can occur in dogs of all ages, but it normally appears in that of older pets. It can't be cured, but with proper treatment and dietary management you can help make your pup much more comfortable.
  • Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF has been specifically formulated to minimize the sign of kidney failure and help slow the progression of the disease.
  • Restricted amounts of high-quality protein, low phosphorus levels, and a reduction in sodium all help reduce the workload on the kidneys. Added B-complex vitamins help to protect the body and break down nutrients.
  • Designed for dogs with chronic renal failure, hepatic disease associated with encephalopathy, or any condition that benefits from restricted sodium levels.
  • Made in the USA!

  • It's ok, but...

So much depends on what your dog likes. This food is more of a pate texture and my dog really doesn't care for that style. He doesn't like the Hills pate blend either. He'll eat it, but I have to disguise it. So based on my own dog, I can't really recommend it, but there's nothing "bad" about it. If your dog likes the finely chopped, pate style food there's no reason not to give it a try.

Our dog loves the Purina Pro NF Kidney Function Formula. It is a little pricey, but is anywhere you buy it since it is a prescription dog food.

Creatinine level was cut in half after three weeks on this product. No, our dog does not like this food so we sparingly add a little something he does like such as sweet potato or broccoli. Our trust is in our DVM, whose doctorate thesis was in canine food. It is off putting that the ingredients are ambiguous and unfortunate that the "natural smoked flavor" is over powering. Too bad this is not available in different flavors. We are very happy that our dog is feeling well again and can enjoy his remaining months with us.

  • Okay if Dog not picky

    By on

Our dog who needed Renal Support food, really liked this food for 8 days and then decided to not like it. Now we're switching him to Royal Cannin, letter T. As for the dry Pro Plan he did not lke it. I think because he has some loose teeth and it was too hard to chew. Two of our other dogs constantly tried to swipe some, but I think it's because the would eat anything you out in their plates.

  • Excellent service - amazing dog food

    By on

Our five year old rescue hound was recently diagnosed with stage two kidney disease. He was very sick, and we feared the end was quickly approaching. Our vet recommended two dog food brands for dogs with kidney disease. We placed our order, Chewy immediately called our vet to obtain the prescription, and we had the food within two days. We gradually changed our dog over to this new food, and the change in him is nothing short of amazing. We 're thrilled to know that his life will be extended through proper diet for his condition. Thanks for the quick and efficient service!

  • The only thing my dog will eat

My poodle has been sick for a few years now and wont eat anything. And I mean anything. We tried to bribe her with treats, human food and homemade dog food. But she will eat this food and it is good for her condition.

  • Special Diet for Kidney Health

    By on

We have a picky dog, but he eats this food, although we do mix in mashed cauliflower, sweet potatoes, or green beans. Our vet recommended this, and they also recommended Chewy.com. Chewy.com handled reaching out to our vet for the required prescription and delivery was prompt.

  • New food bud

    By on

The doc ordered it, my dog is fussy, was shocked that he ate it, very thankful! I own a boarding kennel and use many Purina products, however wasn't optimistic about a " special diet" dog food. Thank you to Purina for making it palatable!
