Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Boxers

Royal Canin's Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Boxers over 15 months.

Ideal muscle mass: Boxers are known to have powerful muscles. This formula helps maintain muscle mass with an appropriate protein content (24% min.) and L-carnitine.

Health cardiac function: Boxers are prone to cardiac sensitivity, so Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food contains specific nutrients including taurine, EPA and DHA to help support healthy cardiac function.

Antioxidant complex: This formula contains an exclusive antioxidant complex to help support cellular health.

Exclusive Kibble

Boxers have a short muzzle with a thick upper lip, and the teeth in their lower jaw are set in a straight line. The wave-shaped kibble of Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed to make it easier for this breed to pick up kibble and helps encourage chewing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dozer loves it! Our boxer is usually to hyper or distracted to eat so we have to stand by him to get him too. With this food he makes time to eat and actually eats it all. His coat is shiny and he's putting on healthy weight! Only thing we dont like is it kind of stinks. July 18, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Took Care of Tummy Troubles We've been searching for a good food for our young boxer for a long time. He ate a lot but just wasn't filling out. Besides that, most of the "premium" foods we tried gave him loose stools and unbearable gas. Our veterinarian recommended Royal Canin. At first I was reticent, because the ingredients are not "high quality" ingredients, but after a month, I'm convinced our search has ended. Our dog loves the food! He doesn't walk away from his bowl until it's gone, and he doesn't postpone eating like he used to. He's finally putting some meat on his bones, and his now infrequent gas doesn't have us evacuating the room. The large pieces force him to chew his food. Since switching, I haven't had to clean up hacked up piles of un-chewed kibble that would frequently follow his scarfed up breakfast. Most of all, I'm thankful Chewy.com is saving me a bundle on this food! I ended up ordering through this site, because this food has been "sold out" at our local pet supply store for weeks. Rated 5 out of 5 by only food for boxers my boxer poked the royal canine boxer bag twice at a pet store so I took the hint and purchased a bag. He has been eating it for about a year and his stature and coat are amazing. June 15, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy boxer happy mommy My boxer has the shinyiest coat and and is lean looking. I love this food for him! June 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food with great results Our family has two Boxers and one has undergone several surgeries over the past few months to have a variety of lumps and bumps removed. Although they have all been benign, each new bump has resulted in a trip to the vet and much stress about whether the bump is cancerous. Recently, our veterinarian recommended Royal Canin to us as a quality food. After reading reviews I was highly skeptical of its quality, though noticed that this particular food supports cell health. Hoping this would help with lumps and bumps, we decided to give it a try. First, our dog LOVES this food. He has always been a picky eater, but so far has devoured his bowl every feeding. Second, and most importantly, we have watched many of his bumps (cysts, we think) rapidly diminish in size from the moment we switched to this food. Though it could be pure coincidence that the bumps began to shrink at the same time we switched foods, the fact they are shrinking is more than enough reason to continue with this food. If anyone is looking for a remedy to deal with pesky Boxer lumps and bumps, I would highly-recommend you give this food a try. February 25, 2016
