Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7-day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Boxers

Royal Canin's Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Boxers over 15 months.

Ideal muscle mass: Boxers are known to have powerful muscles. This formula helps maintain muscle mass with an appropriate protein content (24% min.) and L-carnitine.

Health cardiac function: Boxers are prone to cardiac sensitivity, so Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food contains specific nutrients including taurine, EPA and DHA to help support healthy cardiac function.

Antioxidant complex: This formula contains an exclusive antioxidant complex to help support cellular health.

Exclusive Kibble

Boxers have a short muzzle with a thick upper lip, and the teeth in their lower jaw are set in a straight line. The wave-shaped kibble of Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed to make it easier for this breed to pick up kibble and helps encourage chewing.

Why Royal Canin?

Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.

Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

I am trying to convert my baby from puppy to adult food .. I did a lot of reading on Royal and like the fact that they make this food on a breeds needs.. My little boxer girls Vet chose Royal over Blues it's not that Blues is a bad she liked that the food was prepared for a breeds needs.. My baby loved at first and picked the Royal pieces out and left the other but she seems not to like the big pieces .. She's a small boxer so I don't know if it's because she has to eat slower but she can be very picky.. I was wondering if the food came in smaller bite sizes .. She's only 46 pounds and does not look skinny.. She is petite for a boxer so she doesn't even meet the feeding scales on the bag.. I I am trying to convert my baby from puppy to adult food .. • she loves it!

I was feeding my 4 year old boxer organic bison based food, but she was still getting an upset tummy every other week. I switched her to this and so far so good. She's only been on it for about 3 weeks so we'll see. She gobbles this food up right away! Before, she would at least once a week not eat her breakfast and wait until dinner to eat it. She would also run out in the yard and eat a bunch of grass. That hasn't happened on this food. Thank goodness!!

My two boxers are picky eaters. Have tried everything and they would hardly eat it. They love Royal Canin. The shape is easy for them to pick up and they must like the taste of it. So glad I found this food!!

  • Our dog won't eat anything else now!

    By on

Our dog loves this dog food and won't eat any other food now that she has tried Royal Canin. It's very filling so she only eats once a day now instead of twice. Healthy and delicious!

  • My picky dog loves it

I have three boxers and two of them have non-picky good appetites. I have always fed them good vet recommended food, but my prima donna princess has always turned her nose up at it and only eats when she's starving. I switched to Royal Canin since one of my other dogs is on the urinary diet and my vet recommended it. My princess loves it. I have never seen her eat her food so eagerly and I have had her six years. It was a joy to not have to coax her to eat and for her to actually seem to enjoy what she was eating. My other dogs would eat anything, but I do watch their food and am glad they are getting the good nutrition this diet offers.

  • My Boxers Love It!

Tasty Larger Kibble that Boxers can crunch! Their coats are soft and silky, eyes bright and they are ready to play just as a Boxer should be. Attitude and appearance is everything in a show dog, and Royal Canin Boxer comes through for us.

I have been buying top notch dogfood for the past 10 years, but wanted to try Royal Canin to see if MY boxer preferred it over the blue buffalo I was feeding her and.... yes, there was no question that she LOVED this stuff and actually picked through the mixed feed which I was transitioning her with and LEFT the blue buffalo, but ate every single morsel of the Royal Canin. KUDOS!!!

  • Boxers are so finicky

    By on

So, the first week we had the food, the Boxers loved it; even ate it dry, which is unfounded. Well, now our male Boxer, whom we shall not name (Tully), will not eat it. It's definitely not the food, but the dog, who must have some changes. I guess if I was a doggie, I would not want to eat the same thing every single day.

  • My boxer seems to really like this food

    By on

Tried other foods that she either did not like or the kibble was to small and she would gag or spit out the food. She devours the food in seconds.
