Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Boxers

Royal Canin's Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Boxers over 15 months.

Ideal muscle mass: Boxers are known to have powerful muscles. This formula helps maintain muscle mass with an appropriate protein content (24% min.) and L-carnitine.

Health cardiac function: Boxers are prone to cardiac sensitivity, so Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food contains specific nutrients including taurine, EPA and DHA to help support healthy cardiac function.

Antioxidant complex: This formula contains an exclusive antioxidant complex to help support cellular health.

Exclusive Kibble

Boxers have a short muzzle with a thick upper lip, and the teeth in their lower jaw are set in a straight line. The wave-shaped kibble of Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed to make it easier for this breed to pick up kibble and helps encourage chewing.

Why Royal Canin?

Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.

Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

  • My picky dog loves it

    By on

I have three boxers and two of them have non-picky good appetites. I have always fed them good vet recommended food, but my prima donna princess has always turned her nose up at it and only eats when she's starving. I switched to Royal Canin since one of my other dogs is on the urinary diet and my vet recommended it. My princess loves it. I have never seen her eat her food so eagerly and I have had her six years. It was a joy to not have to coax her to eat and for her to actually seem to enjoy what she was eating. My other dogs would eat anything, but I do watch their food and am glad they are getting the good nutrition this diet offers.

  • Noticeably better!!

    By on

I have been buying top notch dogfood for the past 10 years, but wanted to try Royal Canin to see if MY boxer preferred it over the blue buffalo I was feeding her and.... yes, there was no question that she LOVED this stuff and actually picked through the mixed feed which I was transitioning her with and LEFT the blue buffalo, but ate every single morsel of the Royal Canin. KUDOS!!!

  • Thank you Royal Canin

    By on

I had to write a review because I am thrilled to have less gas to smell, 50% less poop, firm poop and happy dogs! I was using a less expensive food recommended by my breeder for my boxer male adult and my female puppy. Neither seemed to digest it very well, especially the puppy. Both dogs were pooping a lot. I was very careful to transition them to this food over a three week period. I am glad I did!

  • Boxers are so finicky

    By on

So, the first week we had the food, the Boxers loved it; even ate it dry, which is unfounded. Well, now our male Boxer, whom we shall not name (Tully), will not eat it. It's definitely not the food, but the dog, who must have some changes. I guess if I was a doggie, I would not want to eat the same thing every single day.

  • Boxer Max

I am a Boxer Breeder, used Science Diet puppy food to send home with new owners UNTIL I discovered Royal Canine Puppy, also started my adult Boxers on this food...OMG I only need to say....my 2.5 yr old male is a muscle bound brute, (He could sign up for WWE!) I also rescued a Boxer/Australian Shepard mix and feed her Boxer MAX. Both dogs love their food, they get dry in am, for supper they get Veggies (warmed in Microwave) for supper. They tear up their supper every night, Ironically they usually don't eat their dry food in am as myself and my husband work during the day. The dogs are left in home during day (they are good, usually sleep on our bed during day) when we get home early afternoon I am a Boxer Breeder, used Science Diet puppy food to send home with new owners UNTIL I discovered Royal Canine Puppy, also started my adult Boxers on this food...OMG I only need to say....my 2.5 yr old male is a muscle bound brute, (He could sign up for WWE!) My dogs expect dry food for breakfast BUT won't eat Dinner w/o vegs. on top. I put frozen vegs. in Microwave for 30 secs. add a little butter and supper gone in 1 min.!!!!! … more

  • This product delivers

    By on

My 9 year old boxer has struggled with bad breath, flatulence, and "soft serve" consistency poo his whole life. I just started with the Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food a few weeks ago and am amazed at how these issues are virtually resolved! As a bonus, my 7 year old great dane loves the food, as well. It is often difficult to get her to eat - this works wonders!

Our Boxer girls seem to love their new adult dry food. We're still going through the transition, but they are picking the bigger pieces out first. I think they are going to love it. Thanks for all your help.
