Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7-day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

My new little Chi mix muddled right into the dry dog food and I had been feeding him Merrick, Purina Beyond and Nutrish. All wet food and he just gobbled down the Royal Canin.

  • Happy Chuhuahuas

This product has been staple of our family of five chihuahuas for over 10 years! We love chewy products and prices. It makes everything convenient for me as I used to have to travel over 45 minutes to purchase their brand. Now it's delivered and no more traveling!! Great web site so glad we found it!

  • Chicken Corn Pops

    By on

Our little Inigo was always having issues with hypoglycemia from not eating, so much that we carried around a little vial of sugar water, for times when he would get dry heaves (at least once a week). Since we switched to this food, that is not a problem anymore. He loves his chicken corn pops! I have to admit, I'm surprised.

  • Royal Canin is great

    By on

Tried several brands years ago for our Chihuahuas and most foods they would snub and pick at. With Royal Canin they love having us serve their meals. The dogs have better looking fur. Great product with health and safety of the ingredients in mind.

  • Great job!

I got a great deal on my first purchase of my little dogs dog food. It came right on time? It was as fresh as could be. Prices are way better than the pet chain stores. I will be ordering my dog food regularly. I also ordered new cat litter boxes and other items. Love this site!! Thanks Chewy.com

  • My "boys" like this ...

    By on

I've had good luck with this product. Both my pets like this brand. I like the fact that it has a scent that doesn't make me sick to smell. If I don't like how the food smells then I'm not going to feed it to my pets. They like it too. All kinds of antics as I'm dishing out the food.

  • Awesome

Cha Cha LOVES this food! Now I feel guilty for feeding her something else for the last six years. Her food always sat in her dish all day until she would finally eat it, which I didn't think much of because she was raised with only cats and that's the way they eat. But her other brand was discontinued, and the first time I gave her this, she gobbled it right down. I guess she really didn't like the old stuff. I'm a bad mother... but not anymore.

  • Tater loves

    By on

I am a new dog Mom of a 2 year old Chihuahua and My Tater loves the Royal canin food specially designed for his breed. He has only been eating it for a few days. He gobbles it right down. He hasn't had any issues from eating it so I will continue feeding this to him and will update my review in a few weeks. But Im pretty sure it will be a good if not better review of this great dog food..
