This Royal Canin formula is designed exclusively for pure breed Labrador Retrievers over 15 months. Labrador Retrievers typically eat very quickly and gulp their food. They also tend to gain weight, which puts more stress on their joints. The Labrador Retriever also has a waterproof coat, which means their skin secretes an oil that protects it against cold and water. That's why it's important to feed a diet that's tailor-made for all of their specific needs.

Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Labrador Retrievers

Royal Canin's Labrador Retriever Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Labrador Retrievers over 15 months.

Ideal weight: Labrador Retrievers have a legendary appetite. As a result, they need a carefully controlled diet to avoid becoming overweight. This exclusive formula helps maintain an ideal weight with an appropriate calorie content.

Bone & joint health: As determined athletes, Labrador Retrievers give their all. Their solid body, strong bones and natural predisposition to gain weight are some of the factors that can put stress on their joints. Labrador Retriever Adult Dry Dog Food helps support healthy bones and joints and maintain an ideal weight.

Healthy skin & coat: Appropriate food plays an important part in maintaining the quality of the skin and coat. This formula helps support the skin's role as a barrier with an exclusive complex of nutrients, and helps maintain skin and coat health with EPA and DHA.

Exclusive Kibble

Labrador Retrievers tend to eat quickly without chewing their food. The donut-shaped kibble in Labrador Retriever Adult Dry Dog Food helps to slow the rate of ingestion and encourages dogs to chew.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 72 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE IT! Our yellow lab is a VERY picky eater and turns her nose up at every other food we've tried for all 5 years of her life. She ABSOLUTELY LOVES Royal Canin!! She eats it all, every time! Finally no more wasted food! October 22, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Dog doesn't like it Started Tug on puppy (small chunks) liked them at first slowed as he got bigger. Thought adult would make him happier. Hardly eats it. Ordered my last bag. On to something different October 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Stuff It's the first dry dog food my lab will eat so this is a success story for me and for Max. September 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best value by far Best value out there. Convenient terms. Expedient delivery. September 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE this breed specific food! My 12 year old Abbey was in need of a new food. I wanted to make sure what she was getting would be benificial for her. After reading all about this breed specific formular I was excited to give it s try. It's only been a few days but she seems to have adjusted really well and can hardly wait for meal time. The fact that she actually needs to chew it and can't just gobble it is a great beginning. Can't wait to see how this works fir her. Thank you August 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy, Healthy Guys Rocky & Jake are generally happy dogs. But, they are a little fussy about what they eat! I have tried many other brands with some scary results. Hair loss, dull coats even just not eating. I was so frustrated because my dogs are my kids and I wanted them healthy. So, what the heck, saw this brand and thought I would give it a try. Well, the boys just went crazy for this food and within 3 weeks look amazing! Beautiful coats, lean bodies, more energy and excited when it comes time to eat. I upsized to the 30 lb. bag because I found what THEY like! Though a little pricey, it is so worth it. Love the size of the chunks because I also use it as treats while training! Happy owner, happy & healthy labs! July 23, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Adult Dry Dog Food We have a 14 1/2 year old lab/rottie and have been feeding him this RC breed specific dog food for around 10 years. He scratched himself ALL THE TIME as a young dog, but this food formula helped alleviate the itching. He is still trim and healthy, and his coat is shiny. The only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 5 is the price. It's absurdly expensive, and the price keeps going UP. I now buy through (5 stars!). It's quite a bit cheaper than in my town, and I don't have to deal with that awful parking lot. July 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Puppies second birthday Our Lab had a very sensitive stomach as a puppy and the only thing that he could keep down was Royal Canin Puppy. We tried several adult foods and decided we were having such great luck with Royal Canin that we decided to try the adult. So far so good. August 1, 2016
