Description

Small dogs need more than just a small kibble. They need more energy than big dogs, and they have a shorter and more intense growth period. Plus, they typically live longer than large dogs, and have a more finicky appetite. Whether we’re talking about their bodies or their lifestyle, small dogs are a little bit different from the rest of the canine world. Fortunately, Royal Canin Mini is distinctly different, too.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Our 10-year old Yorkie has problems with pancreatitis, so the less fat in his diet the better. I can't brag enough on your exceptional delivery, too.

  • Expensive but worth it

    By on

We started purchasing this brand for our Lhasa Apso last year. She's getting older and was having trouble eating bigger chunks of food. After she turned 12, we moving to the Mini Aging formula from the Mini Mature. She's been eating like a champ and has more pep in her step after the switch.

  • 12 Yr Old Pug Loves

    By on

Our veterinarian recently suggested switching our 12 yr old pug to a high quality diet designed for older dogs. So we tried this; he didn't even seem to notice it was a different shape, taste, texture, just ate it all up. Now he is eating an age appropriate high quality diet.

  • So glad I found you.

    By on

I have an older dog who has lost 1/3 of her body weight. This is the only food I've found that she is enthusiastic about. I had found it locally, but only the the 2½# size. That made it cost prohibitive for my middle-sized dog. I can already tell she is starting to regain some weight and with Chewy I can afford it in the 12# size. I have been working with her vet on this problem. Other than lack of appetite she is healthy.

  • Very convenient service, great products

    By on

I live in a remote area- an hour from any specialty pet store that carries Royal Canin for my 15 year old Maltese. Chewy is a very convenient service that provides prompt delivery, all for a cost 30% less than pet store.
