Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Calm formula is designed for dogs under 33 pounds. It includes two amino acids that help pets maintain emotional balance. Alpha-casozepine is an amino acid chain derived from milk shown to have calming effects. L-tryptophan is a more commonly known amino acid that also has calming effects. In addition, the formulas include Nicotinamide, also known as Vitamin B3. Nicotinamide creates a calming effect within the central nervous system. It's also formulated to meet the nutritional needs of dogs facing digestive, skin and urinary sensitivities.

Key Benefits

  • Contains hydrolyzed milk protein and tryptophan, an amino acid involved in balanced serotonin metabolism
  • Optimal amounts of B vitamins and amino acids help maintain the skin’s natural barrier effect
  • Specific nutrient blend to help regulate intestinal transit and to help support beneficial digestive flora
  • This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalatecrystals
  • Contains nutrients to support healthy teeth

Rated 5 out of 5 by Calm formula This product does work well. It is way too expensive but my dog needs this to help him remin calm. He loves the taste. October 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works I'm using this food in combination with other therapies, my pet loves it, and the reduction in separation anxiety has been incredible. I can leave my pet now without the crying I heard before which caused me anxiety. The stress is so much less March 6, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Unsure Our finicky little girl was eating the Royal Canin GI for the stomach issues that develop with her separation anxiety when her behaviorist suggested we try the "calm". So far, I have been unsuccessful in getting her to eat it. Tried using as treat, added a little peanut butter, mixed in the GI...she ignores it. She isn't terribly fond of the GI, either. She is just very picky. Advice, if you have a picky dog...get the smallest bag possible. I think, if things don't change with her eating the Calm, I will ask Chewy to reinstate my GI prescripiton. She doesn't eat much of it but some is better than nothing. October 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Surprised, this actually works! Began feeding this to our 11 yr. older small breed mutt about 6 wks. ago with a fair bit of skepticism. She had been acting anxious and strange- not following her normal habits. After a thorough check-up to rule out any problems, vet suggested we try this. We were one of the first families to use it in their practice. We were surprised that it does seem to work. She's not jumping up and barking at nothing, over-reacting, and she's gone back to her normal routine (she had started to balk at going upstairs to bed- seemed to be scared for some reason.) Happily, we are back to normal. We've decided to start feeding it to our 2 yr. old Pom also :) February 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A little relief for my hyper yorkie... This product was suggested by my vet's office as a possible help for my tiny yorkie girl, who is so hyper that she can hardly remain still for two minutes' time, even when it's time to rest at night. We've only been using this formula for a couple of weeks, but I believe I'm already seeing a much calmer and happier puppy. Pixy is still very active, but no longer seems to be frantic in her movements. She easily switched over to this food with no ill side effects, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to help a hyper or nervous pup. July 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Yummy! We started out giving Molly a piece or two for treats, since she's a picky eater, and she immediately loved her new "treats". Now we're mixing it in with her previous "take it or leave it" dog food, and she's taking the new Royal Canin Calm and leaving the old brand in her bowl! She hasn't had it long enough to know how it's going to work, as far as calming her. She's a very nervous little Chihuahua, so I'm hoping this will help. January 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Calm is the correct word My dog, Zoey, is very particular. Prefers wet over dry. But when I gave her Royal Canin Calm, she went for it. I got it because my Vet suggested it as my dog has terrible anxiety attacks when it thunders. I've tried other products including the Thunder Shirt, but the food seems to be helping greatly. I highly suggest trying it if your dog has issues. July 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by BilllyBoy likes it! Our spoiled rotten Yorkie took to them without hesitation. This was a switch from Royal Canin for Yorkshire Terriers which he also loves. We just started giving him Calm so it's too soon to know if it will work on his anxiety problems. October 1, 2013
