Description

As much as your dog loves food, certain foods can cause bad reactions, which can be harmful for your pet. Itchy skin and upset stomachs are sometimes triggered by commonly-used ingredients in many types of dog foods and if your dog is experiencing these issues, his or her veterinarian may prescribe Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Selected Protein Adult PV (Potato & Venison) Canned Dog Food (formerly Hypoallergenic Selected Protein). This prescription diet is made with delicious potato and lean venison – chosen specifically because these foods are rarely associated with allergic reactions. While your dog chows down on Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Selected Protein Adult PV Canned Dog Food, you will notice a significant change in the appearance of his or her skin and coat, due to added B vitamins and fatty acids, nutrients essential for conditioning the skin for protection against itching and inflammation. The insides of your furry friend will not be the only thing benefitting from this delicious food!

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Selected Protein Adult PV Dry Dog Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 155.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only dog food I would give my 12 yr old rescue dog We adopted an older (11+ year?) LARGE standard poodle from a rescue organization. He was in a "kill" shelter and saved by some veterinary students. Right after we got him home he had a bout of Pancreatitis. A second round of Pancreatitis followed about a month later. (My guess is that the previous owners who abandoned him didn't want a sick dog or couldn't afford the treatment or special foods that he required.) The vet at the animal hospital found some liver and intestinal problems and removed his spleen because of a benign mass they found. Afterward they put him on this Royal Canin Hypoallergenic PV dog food. and I can't say for 100% certainty that it is just the food, but we haven't had any more problems. It's expensive but a LOT less expensive than the emergency trips to the animal hospital. Attached is a picture of him eating it this morning. Its the only food he gets, other than Hypoallergentic treats (Hills Prescription Diet Hypoallergenic) ), and after almost a year, he still likes it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product! The ingredients in this product are very compatible with the likes of our dog. He normally does not like a change, but loved this brand of dry food.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My dog has IBD and this product was recommended by his vet. My dog has IBD and has been through many prescription and commercially available "good" dry food choices. Since he also has food sensitivities and food allergies, his vet recommended a limited ingredient, selected protein product. Since Ben has done well on other venison products (which are no longer on the market), and this was the only Venison, Royal Canin product that was available we opted for this one. Chewy's price was also less than my vet could offer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New food for our basset, who is on allergy med Our vet recommended Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Selected Protein Adult PV Dry Dog Food for our 3-1/2 yr old basset hound, who is taking daily medication for allergies. We're trying to combat the allergies by changing the food. He certainly likes the new food. Time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful DOG FOOD! When we started our dog on this food, we saw an improvement in her general health, her skin looked better, she shed less, she would finish her food, instead of "nibbling" and she really seemed to like the food. The dog food was more expensive, but it has lasted longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, too early to tell if it's helping allergies Our dog seems to really like this dog food. I'll be able to give a better assessment after he's had it for a few more weeks. Right now his skin is still very irritated and he's itching quite a bit. Hoping he gets relief soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for animals with food allergies My first time ordering from Chewy my order came within one day! Needless to say our Jack Russel was happy to see the bag sitting next to his dish. He has many food allergies the selected protein PV was perfect!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work for my dog allergies My dog loves the taste, however, when I placed him on this food only he began licking and chewing his feet again. Mixing it again with the food that works that has been discontinued from company.
