The food is really expensive. Trying to get my dog to eat it is a challenge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greatfull Great alternative protein
My new small breed pup was having severe diarrhea for several months. Finally decided to use (with vet's approval) Royal Canin PS (soy potato) kibble. He could not digest ANY animal proteins at the time and his ribs were showing. This is for a regular size dog so I put it in a small zip bag and pounded it into smaller bite size pieces. He could not use the vet recommended pro-biotics as some ingredient was from meat. These Essential Enzymes were what they say: "Essential" as he seemed to be having problems with his Pancreas (B-12 was low). Over these past few months he has stopped having runny stools, gained weight, is able to have chopped apples and chopped lettuce in his food thanks to the enzymes. He is now having some Royal Canin PW (potato whitefish) gradually worked into his diet. I know that the pro-biotics ALONG WITH the Enzymes in Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes & Probiotics Dog & Cat Supplement is one of the key ingredients that saved this little one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dashi Lowest Calorie Limited Ingredient Food I have Found!
Not only does you dog lose some weight, this food is outstanding for a dog with allergies. After being on it for awhile you will see your dog's coat shine, get thicker & healthier! Also the food does not cause stains on your white faced dog. Yes this food is expensive... And I have tried to find a cheaper food that will give the same results...and I have wasted a lot of money buying different brands that do not work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by anngolden Great for for dog with Gastro/allergy issues
Royal Canin prescription PW is an excellent option for dogs with gastrointestinal issues. Most of the gastrointestinal formulas contain chicken...and my dog is allergic to chicken. Even foods that claim to be another food source usually have chicken in them. The white fish and potato is low fat and highly digestible. I had to choose the moderate calorie as it does not contain glucosamine (which unfortunately my dog is allergic to as well). If you choose the moderate formula be mindful that there are not as many calories as the regular formula. If you are trying to get your dog to gain weight, you will have to adjust the serving and monitor.

This is the diet our veterinarian has prescribed. It is an expensive food, but our dogs do well with it.

Whitefish and Potatoes, our dog has eaten this for several years. Works well keeping her regular and with firm stool. Other foods have caused diarrhea or soft mushy stool.

My Maltese has some serious digestive problems. His vet recommended this food & to my surprise Levi wolfs it down! So glad that the food that will help him is also enjoyable for him to eat.
