Description

Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs.

What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In dogs, bacterial infections of the urinary tract and the presence of stones (uroliths) in the urinary tract are the most common causes. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Recommended for dogs at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease and who are predisposed to weight gain
  • Dissolution of pure struvite uroliths
  • Help prevent struvite, calcium oxalate and phosphate uroliths
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths
  • Moderate calorie content, compared to URINARY SO , to help maintain ideal weight
  • Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis
  • Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals

Rated 5 out of 5 by A Three Year Success Story Mr. Fluff loves his Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Moderate Calorie Dry Food almost as much as he favors the Morsels. They have kept him thriving and healthy after a real scare about three years ago. He will be nine in April and shows no signs of slowing down, his weight has been consistent and keeps him looking young! Our family is grateful for access to these products and for the helpful "can-do" attitude of Chewy employees. Thank you! October 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Did what it is supposed to My pooch had a slight bladder infection and some bladder stones. She was put on this prescription food to see if it would work so she could avoid surgery. Its been a month and it looks like there is no more blood in her urine and she seems as playful as ever.Ill find out next week if all of the stones have passed but it's looking good October 18, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by I fed this product to my dog and he became ill I have been giving my dog the SO diet for several months and he has enjoyed the food. The only problem I had was he gained weight. My vet recommended the moderate cal product. I called in and ordered it. I received it the next day. My dog seemed to enjoy the food. Within two days he became listless and stopped eating. I attributed this change to his diet. I stopped the new food and went back to the old one. Happily he went back to being his old self..... October 10, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by So far, doing its job My dog has bladder stones & trying to dissolve them without surgery. So far, it's working but food seems to be hard on his sensitive stomach. Initially got sick & had some skin bumps that has all dissipated. Did tell Royal Canin but haven't heard back. As long as it works. October 16, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Royal Canin Urinary SO I feed this to my pug and my yorkie. My pug had crystals in her urinary trac and the vet recommended this product and said the same food would be a good preventive measure for my yorkie. They had the regular formula and gained weight, so we switched to moderate calorie. They love it and remind me everyday when it's time to eat, because they love it so much. My pugs urinary problems have completely cleared up and my yorkie hasn't had any urinary issues, so I believe it's working as well for him! September 10, 2016
