Description

Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs.

What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In dogs, bacterial infections of the urinary tract and the presence of stones (uroliths) in the urinary tract are the most common causes. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Canine Urinary SO Moderate Calorie is a complete and balanced diet for adult dogs predisposed to weight gain. It is formulated to aid in the nutritional management of calcium oxalate and struvite urolithiasis.
  • Moderate calorie content, compared to canine Urinary SO, to help maintain ideal weight.
  • Royal Canin Urinary SO Index® promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals
  • Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals
  • Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis.

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Moderate Calorie Dry Dog Food is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 181.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product and many others! My two 5 yr. old Yorkies were prescribed this particular food about three years ago. My current vet's office is approximately an hour away, so as you would imagine, it's a bit of a hassle to go to just purchase food. I happened to be on Chewy's website and decided to see if I could get their food because it is a prescription. Not only did they have it, it was in stock and at a competitive price. All I had to do was answer a few simple questions about the girls vet, and within a day it was on my front doorstep. Awesome customer service!! I go to Chewy for many things, especially our favorite treats. My girls are 3 and 5 pounds and the Pet 'n Shape Treats are the best ever! We especially love the dried chicken rings and they're perfect for small dogs. We love all the Pet 'n Shape treats and everything we have ever gotten from Chewy. WE REALLY LOVE CHEWY AND YOU WILL TOO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dogs lI've food and healthy for them My 2 yr old cavachon had stones in her bladder and required surgery. My vet put her on royal canin to hopefully deter formation of stones and for other reasons. The chewy cost vs.the vet cost is about $ 10-11 cheaper for a large bag. I also like the fact that the delivery was 2 days after the order and no postage. I will be exploring the Web site for other dog products such as bones, chewys etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price & great for scheduled shipping This product is expensive and not always available to me. Because of vet's office hours and I work about 45 mins away. Having this food for my over weight boxer who has bladder stones has saved her life!!! I'm glad I was told about Chewy.com! Thank you for making purchases easier and cost competitive!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OSCAR After bladder surgery to remove oxalate crystals, this Royal Canin Urinary SO Moderate Calorie dry and wet food was recommended, we've been using both for almost a year and Oscar (our havanese) is in excellent health and no signs of any bladder problems have occurred.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product works Bladder stones are gone. Avoided surgery. She loved the taste. Although she must remain on food to avoid stones returning I am very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low fat diet for dogs with stones My dog is used to being on 10% fat which is recommended for her breed and also it has kept her liver enzymes almost normal for 5 yrs. They were previously pretty high. When she got stones and needed a different diet, she couldn't tolerate C/D (16% fat) or S/O (14% fat) both of which she threw up every single meal. We did a slow switch to this moderate cal (9% fat) S/O. She is now at 50-50 this food and her former 10% fat food. She likes it and hasn't thrown up any of it. I am really happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Service! My Dachshund has to have this food because she has had bladder stones before and had to have surgery, so she will have to use this for the rest of her life. Since it is by prescription only, it is a little pricey at the vet. When I found it on here and at a lower price, I was delighted. I only had to give them my vet and pet info and Chewy did the rest, so easy. Shipping was very fast!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is a prescription from my Vet I am having to use this food because of crystals in my dogs urine (which I am told could cause bladder stones). My dog enjoys the food and never once had a problem with switching her from Blue Buffalo. The only problem that I have with the food is that it is not grain free. But, the bladder stones would cause my little girl to have more problems if I didn't switch.
