Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Hydrolyzed Protein Adult HP Dry Dog Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 249.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best choice for allergies! My Springer Spaniel spent his first two years of life eternally scratching with runny infected ears and a red belly. He was at the vet every two months for antibiotics, creams, drops, everything. Finally, I had him tested for allergies. However, the week before the test results came back, I switched him to Royal Canine's Hydrolyzed food. Within that week, his itching slowed, his redness faded, and he became a much, much happier dog. It was amazing. The results eventually showed my dog is allergic to many common vegetables and ingredients regularly found in standard dog foods. I honestly recommend this to anyone at their wits end with allergies. Its processing allows the dog to take in all the nutrients they need without dealing with the repercussions of any allergen. It's all he eats now. In addition, because it is so high quality, he only eats about 2.5 cups of food a day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hydrolyzed Diet Out There My dog was on Hill's z/d for about two-three months. Her potassium, phosphate, and albumin levels dropped - after going through all of her medical records, I was able to connect these weird changes to the food. You see, most of the hydrolized diets out there don't have chelated minerals, which are generally easier to absorb. Royal Canin's hydrolized diet is the only main hydrolized food that offers chelated minerals. Within TWO weeks of being on this food, my dog has been able to put on the weight she lost on the z/d, and all of her levels have returned into the healthy reference range. So, so glad I found a food that works. If your dog needs to be on hydrolized food, please request this be the first one you try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly AWESOME I have a 3 year old German Shepherd and we have had a horrible time with foods and allergies. I was hesitant putting her on this for fear she wouldn't eat it. It's completely the opposite. She can't get enough of this food! Loves it and it hasn't bothered her system at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dogs love the food Our dogs French Bulldogs are allergic to everything including grass. We have also tried everything you can imagine and so far this food is calming their stomachs, not eating their feet as much and not scratching so crazy-like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for dogs with allergies! This food works wonders for our 8 year old rescue pup who has food allergies and intolerances. Usually if a food doesn't make her itchy it will make her throw up. So far on the Hydrolzed Protien diet we have had no allergies or vomiting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very palatable food for dogs with food allergies My dog has inflammatory bowel disease and is allergic to both the usual and novel proteins found in dog food. He loves this food, both the canned and dry formula. It has kept him from suffering flare ups for almost 2 years. It is expensive, but it pays for itself in avoiding the cost of medications and vet visits to treat flare ups, not to mention that he feels much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Royal Canin HP works I didn't want my 2 yr. labrador on medication. The food and her diet has made a significant difference in the quality of her days. She has some environmental allergies and the HP has improved her symptoms. I would rather feed my dog a good diet than go through countless tests.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GSD with food allergies My two year old GSD has battled allergies this past year and could not absorb nutrients with even high priced limited ingredient GF foods. After 2 weeks on this, he has gained 4lbs and all of his hair has grown back. He looks like a pup again and requires zero pills!! The food is worth the instant relief to his system. Thank you!
