  • It worked for my weim

    By on

My weim was diagnosed with IBD. Prior to the diagnosis she had lost ~10 lbs (>16% of her body weight). She went from being a happy, goofy, active, very food motivated girl to turning her nose up at food, sleeping constantly, and having frequent bouts of vomiting. This Rx food along with her other meds saved her life. Additionally, Chewy offered the best value and were very easy to work with.

  • My Dog Loves the Taste and It's Helped his GI System!

    By on

My vet put my dog on this food due to severe food allergies, almost every other food I had tried made him throw up - even the healthiest, top of the line, grain free, etc. foods available without a prescription. My dog has been doing awesome since starting this food! Not only has he quit throwing up completely, but his stool has been much healthier, too. He also LOVES the taste and scarfs it all down. He use to be very finicky and I had to constantly mix in wet food with dry in order to make sure he would eat something, but I have had no issues with this food so far. He eats it all up and licks his bowl clean! Expensive, but more than worth it for a food he actually enjoys and is helping My vet put my dog on this food due to severe food allergies, almost every other food I had tried made him throw up - even the healthiest, top of the line, grain free, etc. foods available without a prescription. • SAVED MY GSD'S GI TRACT

    By on

Words could never truly express my gratitude toward Royal Canin and this dog food. As a puppy, my GSD had loose stool. Nothing too alarming- the vet had told me it'll usually harden up after I switch her to adult dog food. Boy, was she wrong. Explosive diarrhea. I'd be up all day and night taking her outside, and my well-training GSD even had a few accidents in the house! It was uncontrollable, and I felt horribly for her. Stool tests, ultrasounds, and a very expensive GI panel told me NOTHING; they claimed I had a healthy GSD with an extraordinary GI tract. It was frustrating. My poor babe couldn't eat anything but rice without having explosive diarrhea. We had tried 5+ prescribed dog foods. Words could never truly express my gratitude toward Royal Canin and this dog food. I was so frustrated and mentally exhausted! This problem had been going on for MONTHS. I did some research and asked the vet to try this food for her. MAGIC! Zero diarrhea, and no loose stool. AT. ALL. I now have a happy GSD with normal bowel movements. Thank you, Royal Canin!! … more

  • It works great

    By on

Roxy has been eating this dog food for the past year. And the results have been great for her. She has stopped licking her paws and her fur. And her fur is like silk. And the fast service that we get from chewy is the best my wife no longer has to go to the pet store and pay those outrageous prices.

  • Best Food Ever!

    By on

Our Irish Wolfhound puppy could not have normal bowel movements no matter how many foods we tried (even the limited ingredient ones). At 8 months, he was already over 100 pounds and constant loose stool and diarrhea was a nightmare for him and us. Within a few hours of eating his first bowl of Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein HP, he had a hard, healthy bowel movement and he has been great ever since. He is a happy pup now, and we are so grateful!

  • Great for dogs with allergies

    By on

My Boston Terrier had terrible allergies and changing to this food along with an allergy shot regimen every 3-4 mos has been a life saver for him. He no longer has to wear his eCollar and no more bald spots and blotchy skin from non stop scratching. He has gained weight and may need to change him to moderate calorie.

Too soon to tell if this will work to clear Minnie's ears.....vet suspects a protein allergy. She seems to love it, although as a lab, she'd probably eat anything. As always, your service is terrific....it arrived the morning after I ordered it despite having a problem that the service person needed to resolve. I love chewy!

  • THIS was the answer!

My son adopted a lab mix from the Humane Society-- he had been returned once before because of "health issues" which we quickly suspected must have been his explosive diarrhea. When he came to our home he was very skinny and he began constant explosive diarrhea at our house-- he couldn't help himself and even after going outside, he'd have the explosions in his kennel. After months of vet visits, very expensive tests and trying out a couple of other prescription commercial dog foods that did not help, I was making his every meal, consisting of boiled chicken and rice with a few vegetables for variety. Four months of that and I was at my wits end-- Dr FINALLY recommended this food and it worked My son adopted a lab mix from the Humane Society-- he had been returned once before because of "health issues" which we quickly suspected must have been his explosive diarrhea. After months of vet visits, very expensive tests and trying out a couple of other prescription commercial dog foods that did not help, I was making his every meal, consisting of boiled chicken and rice with a few vegetables for variety. Four months of that and I was at my wits end-- Dr FINALLY recommended this food and it worked right away. We got him a wobbly feeding toy so he wouldn't gobble the food but he has to play/work for it--this stimulates his brains and helps his digestion a bit insofar it slows him down. The big reason is the product itself. My other dogs love the taste of it and try to steal it so I have to be very careful to keep them away from it. We've used it for the past 5 months and he has just blossomed. He's got the bowel control now to make it outside using his doggie door or hold it when in the kennel because his poop is normal. He's not miserable anymore and I am not out of my mind constantly cleaning up wild diarrhea from the house and yard and constantly cooking for him. Some folks may think it's a little pricey, but the cheap dog food isn't healthy and really, there is nothing I wouldn't pay to not have to clean up putrid, watery diarrhea all over my house and yard. I think it's an excellent value compared to the home cooked chicken and rice I was cooking if you figure in my cooking, cleaning and shopping time, not to mention the anguish so felt over his poor digestion and what he was failing to process nutritionally in his body before we found this food. I am also very impressed with Chewy's automatic delivery service because they are so flexible and the people are consistently nice to work with. It is such a convenience to get front door free delivery of the food. … more

  • Great for dogs with allergies

My poor Husky had lost a good majority of his fur around his face he was a crusty, itchy and often bloody mess from scratching so much. He also began to develop these dry, crusty patches on his front and back legs. I switched his food 4x trying to avoid the higher cost of the prescription food, hoping to find an alternative. For months there was no change, I finally gave in and purchased the Hydrolyzed Protein and wish I had done it sooner within 1 month his face was almost fully healed and he loves the food eating his full serving size each day.

  • An Excellent Product

    By on

This special Veterinary Diet Dry Dog Food by Royal Canin is a dry food that my German Shepherd ate without reservation on her first serving. They have made a high quality, very palatable product for our dogs that suffer from serious stomach disorders. My dog is not quite three and has IBD. Since switching to this Hydrolyzed Protein dry food, she is feeling much better, and her symptoms have dissipated.
