The gastrointestinal tract includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon. Therefore, gastrointestinal disease is defined as any abnormality involving one or more of these structures. By feeding your pet a diet that contains precise amounts of key nutrients, you can not only help minimize vomiting, diarrhea,or constipation, you can also help to support and improve the function of the gastrointestinal structures. This gastrointestinal diet is formulated to help maintain the balance of gastrointestinal microflora and intestinal mucosal integrity.

Key Benefits

Rated 5 out of 5 by A very honest review! I have a pit/lab mix who is my entire world and a few months ago she started vomiting blood, long story short she had some intestinal issues that apparently was fairly common but also very fatal. she had been pretty healthy up until then at 6 years old... I thought that's it I was going to loose her, but with great doctors and putting her on this food only it saved her life. I do reviews every once in a while but I thought this was important enough to write... It has now been 6 months and she is on this product only both dry and wet and is happy and healthy. When I saw the ingredients I was honestly confused because everything I was ever told or read said to avoid many of these ingredients, but listen if you really trust your vet trust they are giving you the best information. I am blessed with my dog because I listened and couldn't be more thankful. chewy is so awesome too, get everything delivered and make sure I'm always satisfied with my purchase!! August 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I use both the wet and dry food my dog has been very ill, had a massive infection. Lost alot of weight. very nauseous. diarrhea(diaherria was caused by another food) we almost lost him -- he was so ill. Royal Canin GI Low Fat has been easy on his stomach and I think the low fat additionally made the food easier on his stomach too. While he was barely eating --I was feeding his meds inside a small amount of RC GI LF wet food then 1/4 can --1/2 can of the wet food. Small amounts of the wet food offered many times a day. Diaherria stopped, vomitting stopped and he would eat and hold down the food. I have now been feeding RC/GI/LF dry food 4 x a day ( smaller amounts) and his medication in a ball of RC GI LF wet food . he has gained his weight back now. He is still not competely well. he is still having a problem and we are testing to find the problem , but the fact that he was gained his weight back and is eating again has made him much stronger!! and has given us time to culture and test and find what medication will kill the infection. Rated 5 out of 5 by Prescription Food at a Greatly Reduced Price This food is the same thing I used to by from my Vet and Pet's Mart for a lot more money. I love Chewy! They are the best e-commerce site, easy to use, great customer service. I have told everyone I now to check Chewy out for great products at a great price. September 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This food was a life saver - literally. My 11.5 year old dog had a serious case of pancreatitis with vomiting and severe diarrhea. He almost died. Since we switched to this food, he has been healthy and is more energetic than he has been for years. An awesome product! September 22, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by A necessary evil After reading the ingredient list for this dog food I would not willingly feed this to any dog, but we have a dog with a seizure disorder. To control the seizures she needs medicine that irritates her pancreas. So we are continually walking a fine line between giving her enough medicine to control the seizures without causing pancreatitis. Right now she has a bad case of pancreatitis so is eating this food recommended by her vet. The food does seem to be allowing her pancreas to heal, but she is gaining weight and still hungry. I don't understand how a dog food that appears to be the nutritional equivalent to an out of date Twinkie can be a healthy food. Bottom line. The dog food is fresh, not bad smelling, and my dog eats it, but it is not a food I would feed long term due to its lack of nutrition. August 8, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great product Wish came in a larger bag but has helped my dog greatly since switching to this food September 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Only Food my dog could tolerate After 3 different types of high quality food, several months of digestion issues and a solid month of diareah after a reaction to the Bayer Flea and Tick collar with my Portiguiese Water Dog (9 months old at time) our Vet recommended this food. She had multiple tests and we even tried to mix this food with another food and she reverted back to being ill and started vomitting. Thankfully my puppy is now gaining weight, no more stomach issues! Won't be switching to any other food as my dog is happy and healthy again. September 8, 2016
