Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Low Fat LF Dry Dog Food is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 493.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You are life-savers My dog MUST eat this food, mixed with rice, and nothing else. She has pancreatitis and cannot eat any fat at all. That, added to her food allergies, makes it imperative I get this food for her. She is my service dog, so her welfare comes before my own. I went to PetsMart, as always, to buy her food as she only had a couple days' worth left, only to find out they no longer carry it. My Rx is from their in-house vet, yet no one bothered to tell me they were discontinuing the product. I hit up four local vet clinics that carried the line but without being a patient (or spending a LOT of $$ to become a patient and get a full exam) none of them would sell it to me. If not for your site, with free and VERY QUICK delivery, my dog and I would have been in a world of hurt. So THANK YOU, from the bottom of both of our hearts. BB & Tilly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product keeps my 11 Year Old Doxie Kayak Queen Fit, Trim and Active I combine this hard food with the SAME brand/kind of canned dog food. I do this so her diet will not be 100% hard or soft, but a combined blend of the SAME brand/kind thereof. All low-fat, gastro-intestinal does keep my Doxie in excellent health. It also keeps her digestive tract healthy from input to "output". Both her overall health and energy have improved on this dog food. Her past horrible skin issues are almost non existing: since it was only her diet that changed, I can't help but think it must be related? She is definitely in better health now than she was for years before. She's really enjoying life ( I love her so and love seeing her healthy, active, running-around and alert at 11 years of age) Lastly, feeding her is fast and easy. She loves this dog food and doesn't seem to tire of it. Am hoping for more years with my "Kayak Partner" ..... she's the beat and I want the best for her, too, including what she consumes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very honest review! I have a pit/lab mix who is my entire world and a few months ago she started vomiting blood, long story short she had some intestinal issues that apparently was fairly common but also very fatal. she had been pretty healthy up until then at 6 years old... I thought that's it I was going to loose her, but with great doctors and putting her on this food only it saved her life. I do reviews every once in a while but I thought this was important enough to write... It has now been 6 months and she is on this product only both dry and wet and is happy and healthy. When I saw the ingredients I was honestly confused because everything I was ever told or read said to avoid many of these ingredients, but listen if you really trust your vet trust they are giving you the best information. I am blessed with my dog because I listened and couldn't be more thankful. chewy is so awesome too, get everything delivered and make sure I'm always satisfied with my purchase!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Super Runny Stools I rescued a cocker spaniel (Bella) many years ago who never seemed to have a solid bowel movement. After tons of tests and blood work (that all came back normal), I decided to get a second opinion. My new vet recommended Royal Canin Gastro/LF food to see if it would help. Oh em gee! Not only do both of my cocker spaniels LOVE IT, but my little Bella has had solid stools since the second day she was on it. They aren't "hard", but they are solid...which is a total 180 from what she had before. This food is amazing, and helps both of my dogs avoid any type of tummy troubles. (Warning, it does stink, but our fur-babies are worth it, right?).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent dry dog food for pets with GI disturbances. I had recently rescued a dachshund/chihuahua dog who from the very first day with me, had diarrhea. Immediately I took him to a veterinarian, where stool specimens and full blood work was done. They were both negative for abnormalities and other disease. My vet highly recommended that I obtain "the best dog food to feed my dog with this chronic diarrhea". It has now been 5 days of feeding Royal Canin low fat G.I. dry dog food and my dog has shown at least a 50% improvement with regard to his intestinal problems...I am so grateful to Royal Canin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic dog food Royal Canin is the only food I will feed my dog. She had a bout of pancreatitis a couple years ago and was put on Royal Canin Low Fat dog food. She has been perfectly healthy and her coat is absolutely beautiful. I was worried that a low fat diet would leave her soft curly coat dry and brittle. But no worries about a relapse of her pancreatitis or her coat becoming brittle. Chewy delivered in 24 hours and the package arrived undamaged. I will continue ordering from Chewy. Their price is about $10 less than through my vet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PLE struggles? This might help! Our 8 1/2 yr old dachshund has PLE. After many trials of meds, hypo allergenic food and every other limited ingredient, no wheat, etc, etc, etc. This one worked! NO belly bloating, protein levels are back to normal and Puppy is happy! If your vet has diagnosed PLE and thinks it could be lymphangiectasia, ask to try this food. It smells terrible, sort of like vomit, but Puppy eats as much as we put in his bowl. Works for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I was a bit unhappy when my vet called to advise me that we would be switching my dog from the "Hepatic" diet to the Gastrointestinal Low Fat Diet. My dog loved the taste of the Hepatic diet and with her Diabetes it is important she does eat. I could not imagine anything Low Fat would taste good and I was a bit panicked at the thought of her not liking the new food. Imagine my surprise when she not only liked it she LOVED it. She is also blind so for the last several years I have hand fed her the hepatic food. With the Low Fat diet she is finding it herself and eating on her own. My dog was put on this due to her triglycerides being too high. It is too soon to retest her but hopefully this food will make a difference.
