My Charley, beagle spaniel mix has had many issues with digestion. She was diagnosed with IBD and now can only have venison and duck. She loves it, never missed a meal.

Having a dog with food allergies can be very difficult to deal with. It took weeks and weeks of trial and error before we nailed down what he could handle. That was 10 years ago. And he still loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nancy I have finally found a food that helps with my dog's irritable bowel issues!
This food was recommended by my dog's internal medicine vet. I had researched tirelessly to try to find a food she was able to tolerate. I really want her to have the best quality food possible. In the end it has come down to what her gut does the best with looking specifically at the protein & avoiding the lentils, chickpeas & multiple forms of peas (pea fiber, pea flour, peas themselves) one finds in many dog food. For my dog the venison was different enough (vs chicken, turkey, beef, etc.) & finding a food that has potato as the starch vs the lentils has helped so much. I typically wouldn't have chosen this brand of food but have come to realize what her gut is able to tolerate has to take precedence. So if you are in a comparable situation I encourage you to allow the symptoms to take precedence over the superior quality that one would really like to feed the animal. My Molly is a full fledged family member (with golden retriever birth parents) & I am so pleased we might have finally found a food that allows her golden years (she is 13) to be lived without a rumbling belly & constant diarrhea. Thanks you SO much to chewy for calling the vet & taking care of the prescription so my food order wasn't held up at all!! We will always shop at chewy.com for the years to come!

my dog is allergic to chicken & beef & other meats but she eats the venison with no problem. I tried other venison cans but they seemed to have a lot of water in it. this one seems to be just meat & potato.
perfect for my dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JYWong Cured my dog's intestinal issues
My dog always had a sensitive stomach. She would be fine for a few days and then would have diarrhea and vomit a few days later. We tried everything, switching from wet to dry, trying several brands - purina, blue buffalo, merrick's, Cesar - even cooking rice, chicken and veggies for a year. We took her to the vet several times and even after rounds of antibiotics, a sonogram, stool analysis we could find nothing wrong. Our new vet finally prescribed Royal Canin and we cut out all her treats and cookies. It's been two months and Kona hasn't had any episodes. She's at a good weight, hasn't vomited and appears to be really happy. We still have to spoon feed her this food but the vet says she is healthy. Maybe she was allergic to chicken or processed food. Regardless I'm very happy we found Royal Canin after 3 years of searching. Although it's expensive, I think we save money in the long run since the vet bills were adding up to thousands of dollars.

My greyhounds had been suffering bouts of diarrhea and vomiting for months. Doctor put them on Royal Canin in February and we've had no problems since the change in their diet. It seems to suit them both well.

My dog eats the dry form of this food. I use the canned food to make him treats. I freeze small chunks of the canned food and feed them frozen as treats.
