Rated 5 out of 5 by This is the only dog food my dog can eat that we have found It is great not having to call the vet a week before to make sure they order this dpecisl food. It just arrived on the door step on auto reorder, and it is cheaper than the vet and no shipping July 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great less, less filling My dog loves this dog food, but he seems to still be hungry after eating. Also, his bowel movements are a little on the dry side. No other side effects that I can see. July 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far, so good My year and a half old Frenchie began having allergie skin reactions when I tried switching his food brands. I should have known better and stuck with what was working, but I wanted to move him to the food my second Frenchie was eating (she has an iron stomach). Long story short, among other lovely symptoms, he started losing all the hair on his belly and rear legs; he is now seeing a dermatologist and she has put him on an elimination diet with nothing but Ultamino for the next 12 weeks. After four weeks, he is responding to it well; the skin pustules on his groin have gone down and the gunk in his ears has cleared. He still has red spots where the pustules were and the interior of the ears is still red, but he is feeling much better and is much more active. The hair is starting to grow back slowly. I am hopeful we can get him onto a regular food eventually, but if this is all he can ever eat, then so be it. He's a Frenchie and these things happen to them. A lot. Although the odor was a little off putting to me at first, he loves it and I've gotten used to it. March 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has been great for my Golden We tried numerous food before dermatologist recommended Royal Canin Ultimino. My golden had intestional issue and alergies. Although did not totally eliminate dermatology issues greatly reduced and intestional all but gone. It has been a life saver as we were out of options with stool problems. I would recommend giving a try. June 21, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Dog would not eat it My vet/nutritionist prescribed this food for my dog because he stopped eating the other prescription diet for his IBD. But this he won't even approach. Wish I didn't fork out so much $$$ for him to refuse it. June 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by We add H20 and blend Our nearly 16YO yellow lab mix likes this food but with this particular food she started wolfing down the kibble and then would drink TONS of water. Her stools were pretty hard and often she strained to defecate. Plus, with all the water she was drinking, she couldn't hold her bladder til we got home (only 3-4 hours later at times). So we decided to change her to "soft food" -- homemade style. We would add hot water to the Ultamino kibble along with a tsp of Welactin (fish oil) and use a blender stick to turn it into a paste. While it's a bit more work for her 2 feedings, the results are worth it! She loves it, doesn't drink anywhere near the water now that the food is hydrated, she can now hold it much longer, and her stool is softer. Her coat is decidedly softer b/c of the Welactin. The autoship system and flexibility is awesome, too! Thank you for a great experience, Chewy.com!! October 25, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good intentions My dog LOVES this food, and it smells really yummy. But his coat is getting dull and his energy level had fallen, so I don't feel it's a good quality kibble. April 22, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not so good. Dog is having a tough time eating it. Ultamino has a very loud prominent oder/aroma that my dog does not like (and I think is offensive). The food smells like it has been processed in soy sauce. The dog only eats sporadically. Will have to ask the vet to put him back on Hydolyzed protein formula which he liked and ate well.
