On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • Dog loves it!

    By on

After a recent vet visit we found out our baby girl has a severe food allergy :( she wasn't eating, had bouts of bloody vomit and diarrhea and after experimenting with many different foods the vet prescribed this formula. I haven't seen her this excited to eat and eat happily. She LOVES this food and all itching, grass-eating and g.i. problems have subsided!

  • Great for sensitive tummies

    By on

Our 1 1/2 yr old pure bred German Shepard developed severe diarrhea and we tried several different diets/foods. Almost immediately with Ultamino- his stool was normal and he started to want to eat again! The food smells like "Chicken in a Bisket" to me - finally - a solution to our dogs severe tummy - Allergy issues! It's worth the price - especially Chewy's price!!!

I have a little cocker spaniel mix that is an Epileptic, he takes Phenobarbital to control his seizures. Even with his meds he still has break through seizures. Since he started eating the Royal Canin Ultamino his seizures have stopped. I'm hoping this food will keep them from happening. Thank You!

  • Dog won't eat it

    By on

I have a Great Dane that has allergy problems. My vet recommended this food before we did any environmental allergy testing. He won't eat it. This dog normally eats around 8 cups a day of Victor Yukon River as he is a 140 lb 13 month old growing Dane. I don't know what to do, but I hate seeing him not eat. I am not impressed with the ingredients. He must not be either.

My dog loves this food. It smells tasty. She is using it for skin issues. Hopefully it helps! Too soon to tell as it usually takes 6-8 weeks to notice after changing food. The price is great compared to vets prices.
