Description

This Royal Canin formula is designed exclusively for pure breed Yorkshire Terriers over 10 months. The Yorkie’s silky coat is different from other breeds, growing in single strands, without an undercoat. The Yorkie can also be a picky eater, judging both the smell and taste of food; therefore, palatability is crucial to ensure their acceptance of a food. That's why it's important to feed a diet that's tailor-made for their specific needs.

Key Benefits

  • Designed for Yorkshire Terriers over 10 months
  • Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids to support skin and coat health
  • Highly palatable and an exceptional aroma and flavor for fussy appetites
  • A selection of nutrients to maintain health in mature dogs
  • Optimal kibble size, shape and texture to encourage chewing

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Yorkshire Terriers

Royal Canin's Yorkshire Terrier Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Yorkshire Terriers over 10 months.

Coat health: Yorkshire Terriers' hair is known for its continuous growth and natural softness. This exclusive formula is enriched with Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), Omega-6 fatty acids and biotin to help maintain coat health.

Satisfies fussy appetites: This breed is known to have a fussy appetite, so they need a very palatable food. Yorkshire Terrier Adult Dry Dog Food satisfies the fussiest of appetites with a combination of exceptional aromas and flavors.

Healthy aging support: Yorkshire Terriers typically have a long life expectancy, so this formula supplies a selection of nutrients to help maintain health in mature dogs.

Exclusive Kibble

Yorkshire Terrier muzzles are relatively short, and their teeth meet in a level bite. The kibble in this formula is designed with the optimal size, shape and texture for Yorkshire Terriers to encourage chewing.

Why Royal Canin?

Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.

Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

  • Awesome service!!!

All 3 of our senior Yorkies love the food. 2 of them have no teeth so we soak the food in hot water and mash it up for them. We have bought numerous items from food to dog purses and etc and have been happy with everything. Always have anything we order either the next day or in 2 days. Great people in customer service also.

My scottish terrier has been very sickly and unable to gain weight and had horrible stools ever since her bout with Erlichiosis about 5 years ago. My sister in law had this food she was feeding her chorkie and my dog, constantly starving because her digestive system was completely out of whack from the disease would gobble up the food. I started feeding this in addition to some wet food and have been completely amazed at the results. For the first time in years she looks so healthy and full of energy. She was always emaciated and looked very poorly before but this has really made a terrific change in her. • Royal Canin Adult Yorkshire Terrier Dry Dog Food is a hit!!

    By on

As a puppy, Matthias took some time before he took towards eating Yorkshire Terrier Puppy Dry Food. Having him on that diet for the past 7 months, I was worried that Matthias would not go for his new Adult food. My worries were unfounded as he took to it immediately.
