I have a fearful rescue pup with anxiety. I read the reviews and thought I would try the clicker. I know the clicker noise really scared her at first but I was prepared for that from another review I read. I had very high value treats and stuck them in her mouth when I clicked it. I also sat on the ground with her and kept it between my legs so it was a bit muffled to begin with. She jumped away a few times but then by the 25th time (like the instructions stated) I stuck a treat in her mouth she was totally used to it. I would have stopped the clicker if I thought it was upsetting her. I did a second training with her on another day and it scared her again at first but then she was fine with it. It is dessensitizing her to new noises. Haven't tried the rest of the training yet.

I just received this today but so far it has been a hit with our 4 month old puppy. He acknowledges the clicker sound from across the room and comes soon after.
I started off just clicking it and right after giving him a treat that way he associated the sound with positivity on the other end. Then moved on to telling him to sit, stay Ect. I was very skeptical about getting a clicker to help train but so far it's working really well.

I'm planning to use this clicker to train our cats. It is a little loud for them but I think they will get used to it. The clicker is substantial and comfortable in the hand. I feel that it is a good value. I also like the guide that tells how to use it.

The shape of the clicker fits nicely in my hand. But I have to use two hands to push the clicker to make it click.
Not at all helpful for training puppies.

I think a clicker should be reviewed based on the quality of the product, NOT how well the dog is trained with it. Steer clear of those reviews. This clicker is very well made, will not crack, and the "click" sound is perfect for positive reinforcement.
If a dog is not responding well to clicker training, my advice would be to go back to square one. Give your dog treats throughout the day and when he/she takes the treat, give him/her a "click". Make sure your dog associates the click with a positive experience! Anyways, this product is great! Definitely recommend.

by Dogtrainer1 Slick Click
One of my dogs is absolutely not treat oriented. I had a hard time figuring out what to reward her with. She does respond to praise, but is not overly thrilled. I started using the sound of the clicker as a reward and she loved it. Her training pace has accelerated as a result. This clicker is easy to use. Some of the others I have used were cumbersome. This fits nicely in your palm and even though we are not using traditional click and treat is a terrific training aid. I click and praise.

I bought this clicker in hopes to better pinpoint the moment our pup would understand the moment he correctly did a trick. I (tried) following the given directions on the packet to introduce the clicker first with 20 clicks and treats to follow. No go. Our pup was terrified of it. And even the directions say to continue and the dog will associate the click sound with good things to come. It didn't work. And because he is a rescue pup we found it borderline cruel to continue to do so, so we stopped. The clicker itself is well designed and has a some what loud click. It feels good on the thumb to press on the button unlike most clickers and a good value. Just remember, clickers are not always good for all dogs.
