About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

  • Still phasing in

    By on

We are still phasing this product in with the pups old food, but they both really seem to like it. When our younger pup decided she would no longer eat the old food we figured we would change things up. We did a little bit of research and decided to go with Taste of the Wild. They both dug right in. It's slightly more expensive than their old food, but well worth it when you look at the ingredients. On a side note... Chewy was amazing when we made the switch. We had an unopened extra bag of their old food and Chewy gave us a full refund. They only asked that the food be donated to a local animal shelter which I willingly did.

We have had our dogs on this food for a few years. No more itchy hot spots, no more tummy troubles. It's nutritious and the boys love it. Chewy.com makes getting the food so easy. No more rushing to the pet store because we ran out. We just started the delivery system and so far so good. Thank you

  • Won't touch it

    By on

I'm sure it's an amazing product. If you're considering trying it- why not? There's so many positive reviews to support it. Just wasn't for my 9 month old Labradoodle, I guess. Tripp liked it the first day then after that he couldn't care less. It didnt make him sick so I'm not upset or anything- I just won't be purchasing again.

  • Working on it

    By on

Just got a German Shepherd last Saturday, one week ago. Taste of the Wild was highly recommended by friends, dog was used to eating kibbles and bits. He seems to be taking to it well, but still in the process of weaning him off the other dog food. I am sure everything will work out fine with the way things are going.

  • Finally!!!

    By on

Finally a food my dog will eat and not make such a mess while eating it! I am currently in the process of switching my dog over from Blue Buffalo Large Breed. She really did not like that food. Barely ate and absolutely hated those little "life bits". She would spit them out everywhere! BUT since i have introduced Taste of the Wild, barely any food goes uneaten and she actually eats over her dish (for the most part hehe). So far we are very happy! Highly recommend this food!

  • Solid poops!

    By on

Got this food for our 11 month old boxer. In the week or two he's had it, all of his poops have been solid and he looks leaner than ever. He loves it too. We were pretty set on keeping him on the blue buffalo formula, which is also great, but this one is our boy's favorite!

  • Best dog food

    By on

This is a great grain free dog food. My dog, Carlos prefers Taste of the Wild over any other brands. Other stores that sells high quality products charge $20.00 more per large bag, then you need to load and unload it. Chewy is the best thing I started!

  • My dogs love it!

    By on

My dogs have eaten blue buffalo their whole lives, but I was tired of hearing about recalls. I was looking for a healthy brand to switch to, and I had never heard of this one until seeing it on Chewy's site with great reviews. The dogs absolutely love it and I love that there are so many flavors to choose from!

  • Trusted product

    By on

We traveled in our motorhome and got two kittens we raised on Taste of the Wild. Their coats were shiny and they were always healthy. We moved back into our house and added 2 dogs to the menagerie...we want them to live long healthy lives and they like it so this was the logical choice.

  • Best food!

    By on

I had my goldens on this food for a long time. My husband decided to try to feed them Purina light and Healthy.... well all the sudden gas... too many poops, upset tummies, eyes don't seem sharp. I decided to put them back on this food and will never change again. As soon as I weaned them back, their eyes and coat are better, definitely less gas and pooping isn't several times a day. This is out food for the life of my dogs.
