Feeding Instructions

Transition Instructions

When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7-10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not for my puppy:( I have an Alaskan Klee Kai and he's at 5 months and he has a pretty sensitive stomach. Based on all the amazing reviews on this food I thought I'd try it since he'd been getting less enthusiastic about the Wellness Core puppy food he's been eating for 3 months. Also, since my vet thought maybe he was getting too much of a chicken-based diet and that he might do better with a little variety the Venison and Bison in the Taste of Wile sounded perfect. However, even though he loved it on his first try he had diarrhea later. After that I tried for 3 weeks slowly mixing in just a little bit in with the Wellness but anytime I added more than a handful he'd get loose stools. I don't think there's anything wrong with the food but I guess it's just not for him. One thing I've noticed though is that his coat seems more shinier and softer than it was before. Thankfully Chewy refunded my money and I am going to try Nature's Balance next since he absolutely loves their biscuits. July 25, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Puppy won't eat it :( Should have listened to myself - (Bought in store on sale ) to try with 5 mos old pup. Kibble is a smaller pea like size which would be easy to eat. Puppy refused to eat it - no interest at all for breakfast or even by dinner time - alone or mixed as a topper. He has no interest in this food at all. Not sure if it is the Bison or the several sweet potatoes and peas , canola oil in the first 8 ingredients (I wasn't aware of till I had my reading glasses on at home ) Bought it based on many positive reviews. Would prefer to see less peas and potatoes in the top ingredients and something other than canola oil. Just didn't work for our pup. I was told this product made at a diamond plant and no recent recalls October 30, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a huge fan. This was our first grain-free dog food. We went with it per recommendation from our pup's breeder and used it for the first year of her life. I really disliked how much trouble our puppy had passing stool on this diet. And her breath! It was unbearable, and we've had a lot of dogs, so this wasn't standard doggy breath. As she grew, her coat got coarse and dull, which we assumed was just her adult coat coming in until we made the switch to her adult dog food. I'm not sure what it is about the new food or this one, but ever since being on the new food, Purina Pro Plan Sport, her coat is like her puppy coat again, shiny and soft. Her breath is much more normal and she is no longer having potty troubles. October 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for health-conscious owners I was very adamant about feeding my dog more natural food throughout his life and I've been using this for about six months with no complaints. It was a huge selling point for me that it is closer to what wolves would eat in the wild. Having fed my puppy this food almost exclusively, its hard for me to say if this has really had any influence on his health, but he seems to love the taste and I love the natural ingredient list. Just be careful when switching puppies over to this food. Its very nutrient rich and can upset delicate tummies if not introduced slowly. October 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Food! My Tiber Wolf-Husky hybrid loves this food. She has been on this formula since 6 weeks and is now 7 months old, weighing a solid 78 pounds and growing. She has infinite energy, looks great, has a great coat, and super hard nails. This food is a great primary source of her diet, as she does get meat supplemented several times a week; which is recommended for this breed. I recommend this food to anyone, especially with a larger breed pup that requires high protein and a great vitamin/mineral composition to support healthy growth. The breeder recommended this food to me, and stated that they feed this brand exclusively to their pups and adults. October 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great dog food We have been searching for a dog food product that would not affect my eldest German Shepherd's allergies, but it has been a struggle to find something they actually enjoy. After purchasing Taste of The Wild we will never go back to another food. Both of my Shepherds were licking the bag before I even opened it! The second it goes into their bowls they are eating it and my eldest dog's allergy irritations have vanished. His ears are clean and he no longer scratches. Their coats are also nice and smooth and they have tons of energy to get them through our hiking and camping adventures. October 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Great Pyrenees pup LOVES this! I was feeding my pup IAMS when he first came home.. then I made the change to TOTW. I saw mixed reviews and mixed feelings from others but wanted to give it a try - and boy does my little boy get SO excited to eat his food! His stool also made great, noticeable changes :) October 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Our new puppy loves this food & no upset stomach! We researched different brands before we brought our boxer puppy home and chose to go with this. We spent a week weaning him off of Purina Puppy Chow the breeder was using, and he loves this new food! He hasn't had any stomach problems at all -- highly recommend! October 24, 2016
