by Elfhunter Both dogs love it!
I've been looking for good quality dog food with salmon, grain-free, and won't break the bank! I was feeding Luke Skywalker (pitt/german shep mix)Merrick Backcountry Raw Salmon & Sweet Potato. Though he loved it, we simply can't afford it after adopting Obi Wan Kenobi, our second rescue (staffy mix). We needed something of high quality, affordable, and easy transition. After much research and reading comments (on multiple sites), we settled on try TTTW Pacific Stream. Both dogs take to it and gobble it up. Their coats are shiny and healthy, shed less, and and have less frequent (but solid) poops. I do add a little hot water and wet dog food for "gravy" on occasion to avoid food boredom. Ordering on Chewy is super easy, shipping was unbelievably fast, and prices are very comparable to other retailers. It gets challenging having to lug a 30 lb bag sometimes! Other than that, the dogs are super happy and so are we!! And yes, we're total Star Wars nerds!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kris16 Love this food, But my golden retriever is highly allergic to Salmon and fish oil!!!
I had been feeding my 6 yr golden retriever Accana for 2 yrs. Loved the original formula. Because of price increase I tried TOTW. My golden actually ate this one better(duck), but noticed after a few mths, he was scooting his butt. So I had read Salmon is better with dogs with sensitivities! I have never had a problem with him and allergies before! Found out he is highly allergic to salmon. He ended up with brown spots on skin and extremely red skin/rash. Vet also said the scooting can be allergy too! TOTW is now putting salmon oil in all their foods!!!! Went back to Accana, but they are now adding Herring oil in their foods. He started scratching his ears on it! Still trying to get his red skin to clear up and brown spots! Right now I have him on Canidae Pure, has No fish oil, limited ingredient! Hoping he'll do better on it, till I can get his skin to clear up! While on the salmon I also noticed he had developed a few fatty tumors. Coincidental? Maybe

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bonnieg22 This food is just fantastic
My daughter has a pitbull Saint Bernard mix. His name is Rambo, and he basically looks like a pitbull on steroids he's just huge, probably 130 pounds. All other foods have caused him such allergies that he chewed his fur right down to the skin and he was all scabbed everywhere, he chewed the pads of his feet and he was constantly itchy and uncomfortable. He lost weight, his coat was dull. And even had some fungus or something in his ears that we could not get to heal up. We switched him to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream, and literally within one week we saw a magnificent transformation. He has put weight back on he stopped itching, his coat is beautiful he's well-muscled again, and so happy not itching he's healing well, and the best part is he only eats 3 and a half cups a day even though he's huge! before, he was going through a bag a week of 30 to 45 pound cheap food this is definitely the Cure we were looking for.. Thank you from the bottom of our Rambo loving hearts!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sheri Excellent Dog Food!!
We have been raising Labrador Retrievers for 20 years. I have tried many types of foods. The average grocery store foods from other makers don't sustain our dogs, or give them healthy coats. We started feeding them Taste of the Wild about 8 or 10 years ago. They love the Wild Pacific Stream flavor the best!! One of our labs is now 15 years old. She is allergic to chicken, the main reason we switched. She eats well and has a beautiful coat, even at her advanced age. Our other lab, Dickens, is well over 100 pounds and eats 4 cups a day, which sustains him through the day and evening. They poop less, so less clean-up. His coat is healthy, shiny, and much better managed than when on the cheap foods. I took him with me to my daughter's house when I was babysitting their Lab/German Shorthair mix. Lilly eats less than Dickens does, but poops much more. He poops once to her three. Just amazed in the difference. Taste of the Wild is the best for our dogs!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sumdumguy Good alternative to her regular food
We had been feeding her another brand from chewy.com but misfortune befell us and alas we couldn't afford another bag of the food she had been eating. After carefully inspecting each alternative to her usual diet we chose taste of the wild. Based soley upon the number of ingredients that are easily identified and names of food. Our rule is not to feed our friend anything we can't pronounce or say what it is. She didn't bother with it for a few days, but her hunger strike ended on 3rd day when she devoured the bowl and another within the hour. She seems to be good with it now. We can say that it is a fair substitution for her normal food when needed. Our friend by the way is a 3 year old Alaskan Malamute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sophie239 Helped with Golden Retriever's skin issues
I've had to take a multi faceted approach to addressing the skin problems (fungal/yeast/bacterial) infections that have plagued my Golden. I started with a grain free diet from Taste of the Wild's different choices. He liked them all (he likes to eat!) but I heard that the best choice would be the salmon based diet. So, in conjunction with a special shampoo and diligence on staying ahead of his infections, I have to say that his coat has grown back in, soft, silky and full. Before, his coat was so thin that you could see his skin, so dry that he had terrible dandruff. I realize that it's not ALL about the food, but I feel strongly that it really helped.

Dude was a street dog when I came across him. He had a bad stomach, skin and allergies when I picked him up. He was the stinkiest, most smelly dog I ever met, even after he was bathed. I started giving him poultry and grain free diet. After about 6 months his allergies cleared, his stool became healthier, his itchy bumps cleared up too. Recently, I switched his food to Taste of the Wild and he broke out in itchy bumps not long after I had switched over. He also started to smell bad again even after being groomed and bathed. I thought Taste of the Wild would be just as good considering it is grain free and poultry free. I also thought it would be a more economical choice considering it's a larger bag for less cost. Turns out trying to save a few bucks on a different brand didn't work out to our advantage and my little guy ended up paying the price. Speaking about the previous food, if it isn't broke then don't try and fix it. I am currently transitioning him to the other brand that cleared him up from the start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeachBummer My husky enjoys this food
After careful research, I chose to feed my husky "Taste of the Wild" because it's grain free and well balanced for this type of dog. I swap out flavors as huskies are prone to becoming bored with their food and rejecting it, so I think we've tried them all!
I was hesitant to buy this salmon based variation due to ethical issues surrounding fisheries (wild salmon are rare, most salmon come from hatcheries and are released into the wild...commercial fishing profits from this system which is paid for through taxes & hatchery fish breed with the few remaining wild salmon...but it's sort of futile to fret over I suppose).
Anyway, I digress from my point: salmon would be a typical part of a sled dog diet, and my husky seems to enjoy this flavor & Chewy always provides speedy shipping and perfect customer service.
Bottom line? My personal reservations aside, this food seems like a great choice!
