The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

  • A Life-Saver For a Pup With a Parasite!

    By on Top 50 Contributor

Our Goldendoodle pup, Scarlet, had giardia from the start. She had constant loose stools, was constantly drowsy, and was as skinny as a twig. She was originally on Grandma Mae's, then a completely cooked, holistic diet, and neither helped her. In an act of desperation, we decided to try this brand. THANK GOODNESS WE DID! This dog food INSTANTLY firmed up her poop, and that was huge because she had never had a solid bowel movement in her entire life (crazy, right?!). She is finally gaining weight and has so much more energy than she ever has before. Better than all of that, her parasite is finally going away! This food was definitely a life-saver!

  • Great for my dog's sensitive stomach

    By on

My puppy was on another high quality grain free dog food, but was having digestive problems and showing signs of food allergies. My vet said he was probably allergic to the poultry in his current food. Based on the reviews (and after noticing that some of the other fish based foods still contained chicken and turkey) we gave this food a shot. He is a lot less gassy, and is no longer having loose poops.

  • sweet potatoes are carbs and worse than some grains

    By on

Disappointed in many of the dry dog and cat foods like this one. Taking out grains and replacing with high carb sweet potatoes, tapioca, peas, can be just as bad as grains. Even rice is better than these. Plus canola oil is an industrial chemically laden oil and is used in this and many other dry dog foods. I'm not buying this again.

  • Helped firm puppy's poo!

    By on

We adopted our pooch around 11 weeks. After transitioning her from nutro puppy to performatrin lamb and rice, we noticed her bowel movements continued to be unpredictable (like pudding, and frequent, also very gassy). Having done a fecal that came back negative for parasites, we were told to try switching her food (again). Almost right off the bat we noticed a difference with TOtW pacific stream. We add pumpkin to both her feedings, always have, but now our 6 month old medium mixed breed is having predictable, formed, bowel movements 3-4x daily. She also has no gas, itches less, her runny eye has improved. Finally after 3 months of endless vet trips and fecals, we have a solution!

  • My puppy loves it! Yummy & Nutritious!

    By on

I bought this food for my toy Australian shepherd puppy after trying numerous foods. He wasn't liking anything I bought. I did extensive research and found taste of the wild to be affordable and great quality. My puppy has tons of energy, beautiful coat, and loves his food. I was nervous about some reviews saying their dog smelled like fish and the food smelled...I didn't notice this at all. Also love that it is grain-free with novelty protein. Two thumbs up!

  • Puppy formula

    By on

We purchased this brand because it is the brand we feed our adult dog. The puppy does not like this mix available by your company for puppies, she prefers the adult dog food, and will eat that until her belly is full.

  • Perfect food for our Labrador puppy

    By on

Our Lab puppy struggled with gi issues from the time we brought him home at 9 weeks. After treating for giardia the issues persisted and in fact got worse so we knew we had to change the food. Within 24 hours of switching to TOTW Pacific Stream the GI issues were completely resolved. Our puppy loves the food, too.

  • Definitely recommend it

I have a 6 month old blue heeler, transitioning to this food was extremely easy. He actually enjoys eating it a lot more than the puppy pedigree we had him on. He's been on it for about 2 weeks and I have already seen a difference in growth and his poops have improved as well.

  • Makes your dog SMELL of fish meal and Calcium/Phosphorous amts are hidden

    By on

Our 11week old rescue puppy was on this food from the rescue so we continued, as he tolerated it well. After reading reviews on dogfoodadvisor and dogfoodanalysis, this food is rated ok-but not the best. It gets 4:5 stars and my concern is that the label is not clear about how much calcium or phosphorous it contains. These 2 ingredients are important to know especially for large and giant breeds. No more than 1.2-1.8% Calcium and no more than 1.0-1.6% Phosphorous should be given to a puppy on a daily basis or may increase the risk for bone and joint injury/illnesses. That being said, their website doesn't even state how much Ca+ or Phos-not good. We thought the fish smell was due to the previous owners who neglected and did not care for him, but after a few weeks we decided it was the food. We switched him to a higher quality food and what a difference it has made. He doesn't smell fishy any more. I would sure love to know the Ca and Phos amounts in this puppy food, it worries me they don't disclose it.... … more

This food was recommended to us by the breeder. Our new puppy Ginger loves the food and so far no problems. Chewy delivered the food very quickly and was packed great.
