Rated 1 out of 5 by SheltiesFan1 The Medium size Virbac dog chews are disappointing.
The large size of Virbac dog chews were money well spent. The medium size were unexpectedly disappointing. Averaging the size of a credit card, it takes three chews to be equivalent to one large chew.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kathy Possible Choking?
My Boston took off a little piece and I may have to take him to the Vet. It sounds like it's caught in his throat.
Hoping he can choke it through himself :(

I don't know how well they work individually as we introduced them at the same time as other teeth cleaning products. We bought the petite size for out 15lb Bichon Frise because she's an animated chewer and I worry about her choking on larger, soft pieces of rawhide. But she needed her teeth cleaned at home so we don't have to put her under at the vet's - there has been a noticable [frankly amazing] reduction in tartar and plaque since using these along with Dental Chewz [see other products reviewed] and Tropiclean Clean Teeth Gel. We also use a Tropiclean water additive but had not noticed a reduction before this. I do know that my girl love love LOVES these and will come from another room when she hears the bag. I try to hold the pieces so she has to bite and chew from both sides since they are quite easy to break apart and she can down them in no time - I want them to work! I will definitely buy again and wish they weren't so expensive!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Frankie23 LOVE IT...When you can find it?!
Our 6 yro rat terrier loves Virbac C.E.T. HEXtra Premium Dental Dog Chews (med size are the best for him as it takes him a little longer to chew but he enjoys it & it seems to help keep his teeth clean as well) I've purchased the ones w/o the HEXtra & he will only chew on them for a few minutes then walk away, complete waste of money) So I only purchase the Virbac C.E.T. HEXtra Premium Dental Dog Chews
however, It seems these are no longer available or at least "Not in stock" each time I try to order?

These definitely brighten his teeth, but they're nowhere to be found on chewy anymore. These really do work so it'll be worth spending the extra cash to purchase this item at my local chain pet store

My fox terrier loves these. He will stand on his hind legs, twirl, then stretch as far up as he can, almost like he is reaching for them with his paws.
I bought these as well as the Virbac C.E.T. VeggieDent Tartar Control Dog Chews, which he also loves. However, when I put one of each on the floor (about 3 feet apart) he goes to both, sniffs, and always picks the Virbac C.E.T. HEXtra chews.
Now...about tarter control. I think they work pretty well. His teeth, like most small breed dogs, tend to gather tarter easily. These chews do keep that down enough so that I don't have to make yearly dental cleaning appointments. Cost wise, it probably comes out the same (dental cleaning vs. 2 years of dog tarter chews), but chewing is much more preferred than him having to going through elective surgery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Carpenter I use them for a training aid.
She liked them so much when I had to give her pills, I use them as a training aid, I break them into threes and I can get her to do almost anything for a pill pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by anne82 A Huge Hit with our Vizsla and Lab!
I usually order the plain C.E.T. chews in Extra Large but the chews have been out of stock for so long I thought I would give the Hextra chews a try. To give our two dogs a chew in another size other than Extra Large does not afford them enough chewing surface. They manage to make short order of the Extre Large Chews soon enough.
The two boys love these C.E.T. Hextra chews so much I will continue to purchase these instead. Considering the fact that these chews are coated with chlorhexidine gluconate (which is the primary ingredient to help breakdown plaque) I was concerned that they would be able to taste the difference form the plain chews and be put off. Not so, in fact they seem to be more keen so they are happy and so am I. Thanks!
