Rated 5 out of 5 by works on my long haired This is the only thing that works on my long haired akita January 12, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing results! I had a horrible tick problem after moving into a new home. I was pulling literally over 100 ticks off of my dogs every day. I hired a commercial exterminator, which did help, but I was still finding way too many ticks, even on my kids! After months of fighting to get rid of them, and expensive pest treatments of the house and yard, I saw this collar advertised and decided to try it. AMAZING! In two days, the ticks were visibly decreasing. It has been 2 months now, and I just recently bought new collars. In the past two weeks, I have seen only one tick, and it was very sluggish. I am very happy with Preventic and recommend it highly. December 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by No ticks anymore My groomer recommended this product to me over one year ago. I was buying it from a local vet for more money and the wrong size. I didn't know I could buy it online for less money at 18" (or that it came in this size) versus the 25" that I have been buying quarterly for the last year. I will definitely reorder from Chewy for my miniature schnauzer. December 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works like a charm! I have four dogs and saw a few ticks. Was very concerned and didn't want to have them multiply! We put the Virbac Tick collars on the dogs and am happy to say, we have not seen a tick since! I am pleased!!!! December 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works Good Keeping Ticks Off My Dogs This brand of Tick collar was recommended by my Vet. I live in a rural brushy area of northern California that has a lot of Ticks. I've used these tick collars on my 2 dogs for several year now and replace them as recommended. My dogs have never had a tick ever since i began using these. November 25, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Didnt work and gave me a rash! I bought this collar based on the great reviews. However my experience was very different. Not only did I find an engorged tick on her neck less than an inch away from the collar (after she had it on for a week), but it also gave her itchy skin. It also gave ME a rash! My dog sleeps by my shoulder with her head on my shoulder front which puts her neck right on mine, and this collar gave me a severe rash. As soon as I had her sleep elsewhere, my rash went away. We tried it a couple times to make sure it was the collar and there is no doubt thats what it was. I am glad it works for others and wish it worked for me and my doggie :( But I caution you, use with care. October 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tick collar This collar works really well. I bought for my son's dog. They live in an area with a lot of deer. Before collar dog would have 5 or more ticks at a time. Since collar was put on there have been no ticks. Good product. Will buy again for all our dogs. November 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Does the job - just be careful for first use! I have Australian Shepherds that love long walks in the woods (my 7.5 yr old female has hiked nearly half of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia with my son and husband). Ticks, especially the teeny deer ticks which carry Lyme disease, are a huge problem locally, and vets have reported they don't seem deterred by the fipronil used in several top-spot products. Plus, the tick has to actually BITE your dog, before it can be killed by Frontline Plus, and similar products. My vet suggested the Preventic collars with amitraz; this works by paralyzingly a tick's mouthparts, so while you may find a tick on your dog, it won't be able to bite for a meal, and thus can't transmit tick-borne infections (unless your dog finds the tick and eats it, which can and does happen when they clean themselves). I have used Preventic collars for nearly a decade, and been thrilled with the results save for one incident... When we first brought home our now 7.5yr old female, I followed the printed directions on the box, waiting till she was 3months old and the proper weight, before fitting her in the collar for the first time. Within a week, she began to show redness and irritation under the collar. My vet verified she needed to stop wearing the tick collar, till she was a bit older and had grown in more of her adult double coat, rather than her soft puppy fluff. At age 6 months, we tried the Preventic collar again, with absolutely no problems - and she's worn one daily ever since. With my current Aussie pup, I waited til he was 4 months old and had grown in more adult type coat around his neck; no problems of irritation at all. My dogs run into different kinds of ticks in the outdoor places we visit the most -walking along the Chattahoochee River in Georgia, hiking in the Appalachians, playing along the coast in South Carolina, and playing with extended family in North Carolina and Virginia. They swim and wade with these collars on, and the ticks just seem to stay away from my dogs - but find the other dogs from the extended family as yummy treats! Highly recommended-just be cautious with the first two or three weeks after putting one on your dog for the first time. Watch for any redness or other signs of irritation - and tell your vet, so your dog isn't going to be treated with TWO anti tick preparations at the same time. November 10, 2016
