Transition Instructions

This food is formulated for adult, non-reproducing dogs over one year old as puppies and pregnant or nursing mothers have special nutritional requirements. It is important to slowly transition your dog from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5 - 7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness® each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness® CORE® by day 7.

CORE is highly palatable so your dog may tend to eat more of this food. Watch initially to see if you need to adjust regular eating patterns. Give your dog access to clean, cool fresh water at all times and feed Wellness® CORE® wet food in combination whenever possible, to increase the level of water in your dog's diet. Nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, but be sure to give your dog plenty of love, exercise and see your veterinarian regularly!

  • Picky Lab Loves It

    By on

Switching our labrador from puppy to adult food was a nightmare! She is so picky and spits food out, she even got to the point of just not eating for 5 days. We went to some local pet stores asking for any samples to find something our dog would like. Of course, the only one she liked was Rawz, which was $68 for a 20lb bag!! I did so much research and found this has the most similar ingredients to Rawz and her puppy food. It was a rough start getting her to eat, but after 8 months she gobbles it up and is eating fast like a typical lab and excited for her meals again. The pieces are bigger than a regular kibble, around penny size and triangular. It is crunchy but you can tell the pieces Switching our labrador from puppy to adult food was a nightmare! The hardness of the kibble is good enough that her teeth still do not build up plaque easily and she does not have bad breath. The bag also zip locks, so that is helpful with keeping it fresh. Overall, our girl is a happy, very healthy, and lean muscular lab! … more

  • I found a fabulous new food for my pooch!

    By on Top 500 Contributor

When Acana decided to pull out of Chewy I was fed up -- I had been a faithful follower since my 3 girls were young but this was too much. I only have one dog on "regular" food now - the other two are on Rx diets - and I thought I'd give Wellness Core a try since I use the Wellness Chicken Stew as a compliment to the dry kibble already -- she's doing great as we switch over slowly and we're both happy new Wellness Core clients! Another plus: it smells really nice - when I open that bag to serve it I just love it!

  • Great choice for grain-free

    By on

We started this Wellness brand grain-free dogfood when Acana stopped selling their food through Chewy. Wellness Core Grain-Free Original Turkey and Chicken rates a 5 on Dog Food Analysis, which is their highest rating. It has been an easy adjustment for our 7.5 yr old goldendoodle. At the end of her last bag of Acana we started mixing 1/2 old food and 1/2 new food. She's now been totally on Wellness Core Grain-Free for several weeks and we haven't seen any changes in her poo & no gas! Highly recommend!

  • This is Edna's new food from now on

    By on

I tried this after learning that Fromm wants to act like a bunch of control freaks and try to control where and how I buy their food. Edna's been fed grain free Fromm for over a year and she never really seemed to like the taste of the food but it agreed well with her stomach. She adapted very well to Core without any issues and in fact LOVES it! We can't leave food out for her anymore or she will just eat it all, we have to ration her now :) So we've found Enda's new food from now on.

  • Better than Orijen!

    By on

When Orijen terminated their relationship with Chewy, I was forced to re-evaluate my dog food of choice. After an exhaustive search, I picked Wellness Core Grain-free and am on my second bag so far. Both my dogs (spoos) love it and it seems even better for their coat and skin than the higher priced but no-longer-available (from Chewy) previous variety.

  • Everyone eats it...cats too!

    By on

My dog loves it. No problem there. My concern is my six cats love it too. When I fill up her bowl, the cats come in and push her away. Since the nutritional needs of cats differ from dogs, I have to be proactive in keeping them away from her food. I keep their food dish full of Wellness cat food, which they also love. To get them away from the dog food I open their bag of food and pour a little on top of whats already there and they rush over to their own food and huddle around the bowl.

  • Wellness CORE

    By on

Rently rescued a dog. Bought a small bag of turkey/chicken food reccomended as not to change his diet. I ordered a large bag from Chewy. The color was darker and looked fresher. My dog is gobbling it down (as opposed to the prior food). Conclusion: Chewy has fresh food in stock and my dog loves it!

  • Not as good as expected

    By on

The kibble is an odd shape and an odd orangey color. The dogs I am feeding it to will eat anything so hard to tell on that account. Stool is not as good as I would expect from a premium grain free food. I believe this is a pea and potato grain free food, maybe that is why.

  • Great food

    By on

My whippet is quite picky she gets tired of her dry food quickly. We have gone through multiple brands but she loves wellness and the crunchy bites. She is more active and alert since we put her on wellness, whippets are couch potatoes anyway but this food is great.

  • Dogs love it

    By on

My dogs love this food, they digest it better than others I have tried. It's a healthy food with high ranking from the vets office. The dogs coat shines only a few weeks after eating. I feed my 14 the wellness core for her age and the puppy his age appropriate food.
