Transition Instructions

It is important to slowly transition your puppy from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness® CORE® each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness® CORE® by day 7.

  • Good food but not for my picky eater

    By on

I was giving my shih tzu the same food she came home with but was having trouble getting her to finish her food. I decided to switch her to this as the ingredients were better and I felt that she she would get better nutrition even if she just ate her normal amount. So far, at half a bag in, it's been a daily battle trying to get her to eat. On the previous food - she was okay eating all kibble, but with this she refuses to eat unless it's mixed with wet food and even then she barely finishes half of it. I am hoping that part of the reason is that this kibble is slightly bigger and harder than the previous brand and therefore a little bit harder for her to eat. • Great Quality Food

We adopted a 9 month-old rescue lab mix with some rear gland problems due to being a stray and poor diet. The vet recommended adding pumpkin to her food while we transition her to a better food. When switching to this food, her stools have firmed up and she tolerates it very well. We have been able to reduce the pumpkin. Gets very excited to eat, and we even use the food for training "treats". Highly recommend. Chewy has the best price and service around!

  • High quality

My 11 week old cattle dog/husky puppy has thrived on this. When i brought her home she had been on purina puppy chow (ugh- sorry) so I was anxious to change her slowly to Wellness Core. Um. Read the ingredients in the two foods. I didn't even really have to transition slowly. She wasn't crazy about purina and when I added the wellness she went crazy. Fast transition and no tummy problems. Not suggesting everyone transition quickly but it couldn't have been better in our case. She is growing quickly but not porky from corn, wheat and by products. Not sure I've ever heard of a dog hunting for corn so not sure why anyone would feed their animals corn and wheat. She is lean and coat is shiny.

  • Puppy Loves It

Because our other dogs eat Natural Balance Limited Ingedient food, I initially began feeding our new Collie puppy that brand's puppy formulation. While she ate it, she didn't seem to like it much, and her stools were loose - and many! After talking to the vet, who said our puppy didn't need the limited ingredient food because she'd not shown symptoms of having a sensitive stomach or any allergies (as each of our other adult dogs has), I transitioned her to Wellness CORE Grain-Free Puppy Formula Dry Dog Food. She SCARFS it, and her stools immediately firmed up and became less frequent. She has lots of energy, her coat is soft and thick, and she's growing like a weed. Our pup, though, will continue to benefit from Wellness CORE Grain-Free Puppy Formula until it's time for her to move on to an adult Wellness formulation. It should go without saying that Chewy.com's service has been exemplary, as always. Both foods are now included in our auto-delivery, and we couldn't be happier. … more

  • Great, grain free, puppy food

    By on

We have a South African Boerboel puppy, currently six months old and about 100 pounds worth. The breeder had him on Pro Pac Performance food but he didn't seem to be doing well on it. I looked around, and having confidence in the Wellness brand, decided on Wellness Core. He is doing very well on this food. We also use it as treats for training and he loves it. We have used the first bag and there was hardy any of the dust normally found in the bottom of dry dog food bags. I think that indicates a better manufacturing process or quality control and the fact that it is grain free.

  • Great Food

My pup loves this stuff. It's highly rated in terms of it's quality of ingredients as well... We were looking for a grain free puppy formula that was of at least "good" quality. This meets all our needs and she eats it. *whew*

  • Quality food but not for our Yorkie

    By on

I was excited to feed this to our Yorkie pup, but he was never a fan of this food. We would put it down, and he would take a couple sniffs and just walk away. It was very difficult to get him to eat it. The recommended feeding said he should be eating a cup a day, but we would be lucky if we got him to eat 1/2 cup daily. When he did eat the food he hardly ever finished it. We did some research and it said to start adding water to it the food, and mash it up. He started eating it a little more, but he rarely ever finished it. He's such a picky eater so I guess this food wasn't for him. • This is a High Quality Puppy Food

    By on

My Lab loves this food! If he loves it, I love it! I searched for a high quality puppy food that also needed to be easy on my puppy's digestive system. I found it in Wellness Core Grain Free for puppies. He has done so much better since switching him over to this puppy food and getting him off the one the breeder had him on.

Our (stubborn) goldendoodle puppy can be picky, but he loves this food. Lots of protein & good nutrition. Glad to find a puppy food basic that's good for him and will help him to grow healthy.

  • Good stuff

    By on

I have an 8 week old lab puppy. Hes going to be a duck dog. Looked all over the web for proper food and found proplan or science diet to be recommended by the hunting crowd. Im really not sure why these guys like this food. I also wonder if they have ever looked at the ingredients. Glad i did not go with the masses and chose a food that the dog and i both love.
