Dogs over 100 lbs (45 kg): Add ¼ cup (26 g) per additional 10 lbs (4.5 kg).

Combination Feeding: If feeding with Wellness wet food, reduce dry amount by ¼ cup (26 g) for every 6 oz (170 g) of wet food.

For pregnant or nursing dogs: Since DHA is transferred to puppies in mother’s milk, we recommend feeding this during pregnancy and nursing. When pregnant, feed up to 50% more food according to body weight for 12 mos. For nursing dogs, allow her to eat at will.

Every puppy is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size, activity level, breed and environment. Please use feeding guidelines as an initial recommendation and adjust as needed.

Transition Instructions

It is important to slowly transition your puppy from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to the new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5 - 7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness by day 7.

  • Helps slow down eating

    By on

I am currently in the process from Wellness Core Puppy to Wellness Complete Health Large Breed Puppy. I changed it because my pup wouldn't chew his food and just swallowed it and also because I saw from an article that feeding normal puppy food can cause problems like unhealthily rapid growth or obesity. I don't know about the latter but my vet said it's a good idea to do that and he sure did start to chew! The core series is grain free and this isn't but I hear that the grain free thing is overrated...like gluten free people food, and I don't think grain is bad...only when given excessively so I don't mind a little grain!

  • Large Breed Puppy Food

    By on

As a breeder I always insist on a large breed puppy food. Feeding a large breed a regular puppy food will cause them to grow too quickly and in the end can cause hip displaysia and other joint issues. Its also important to feed your large breed pup, puppy food until they at 18 months old. This is when most large breed stop growing. Consult with your vet, however if they tell you it doesnt matter find a new vet. Health of a large breed pupoy is easential their first 18 months and their food is a key part if that. The better quality of food, the longer your pup will live. Wellness large breed puppy and adult food is a good balance of diet. • Great puppy food!

    By on

We have a 6 month old Basset Hound pup who loves this food! Our only problem is her eating habits vs. the recommended daily feeding; She's a grazer and sometimes has a hard time eating the full daily amount indicated on the bag, depending on how she feels on a given day. But she is gaining weight, her heavy Basset bones are growing nicely, her stool is firm and not too stinky, and her coat is super soft and shiny!

  • My puppy doesn't love it

    By on

I started my puppy on the CORE and then switched to this because he is a large breed. He always loved the CORE but isn't crazy about the Large Breed Puppy. Sometimes he'll just leave it in his bowl which he didn't do with the CORE. Thinking about transitioning him back.

  • Great Puppy Food

    By on

In my past life, I bred show Alaskan Malamutes and always had great results with Wellness. I have not had a dog in a couple of years and recently purchased a pup. As is no surprise, he loves the food and is doing wonderfully. Just the right balance for a large breed pup.
