For pregnant or nursing dogs: Since DHA is transferred to puppies in mother’s milk, we recommend feeding this during pregnancy and nursing. When pregnant, feed up to 50% more food according to body weight for 12 mos. For nursing dogs, allow her to eat at will.

Combination Feeding: If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/3 cup for every 6 oz. of wet food.

Transition Instructions

It is important to slowly transition your puppy from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to the new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness by day 7.

While my GSP had tried two different brands previously, still not sure this is the one for him. His coat on the previous food was getting dull looking but less than a week of changing his food to this his coat has gotten a nice shine to it again and he looks like he's building more muscle all over again. So as long as I keep seeing improvement I think its a good food. However, the price is enough to break the bank, and I just mean in general no matter where you buy it. Although, chewy is better priced than the chain pet stores. So, I think its a good food, just awful expensive. And might could use a little more fat in it. … more

  • Misleading characterization of the product

My puppy (now 8 mos old) has been on Core Wellness since he began to consume solid food. When I saw that the manufacturer, Wellness had a puppy food for the large dog breed, I decided to switch, since my puppy is a rough collie and is considered a large breed. Even though I made a gradual change in switching my puppy to this food, he continues to dislike the food. I have to add treats or peanut butter to the food to get him to eat it. What I read on line in the description of the nutrition content for the large breed puppy product is not the same as is printed on the actual bag I received. And it is not the same nutritional content as the Core Wellness. This is both misleading and confusing My puppy (now 8 mos old) has been on Core Wellness since he began to consume solid food. • Great product

My now 4month old Lab puppy refused to eat another high quality brand (Taste of the Wild) I bought and I decided to try this. I tried transitioning her slowly but she'd actually eat the Wellness food and spit out the pieces that came from the former brand! She methodically picked through her food so she'd only eat the Wellness pieces. So I switched completely over to this by the next meal and she's been eating it just fine. She never had diarrhea from the sudden switch, No More Stinky Farts and her coat is looking better than before!

  • Excellent Product and Delivery

This is the only food we have given to our 9 month Yellow Labrador Retriever, and we are very pleased with it. She has grown to be much taller than the average female Lab and her coat is thick and healthy. We have become loyal to this brand and will most likely use the adult chow once she is old enough.

My dog gets easily bored with his food. While he enjoys this food sometimes I have to add a little additive to entice him.

  • Switched foods

I switched my pitbull mixed boxer puppy over to Wellness from another well recognized brand. My puppy had soft stool and often times had trouble in general, he would take too long and it would not come out. He would be farting an abnormal amount. I finally switched him over after a couple of months. He is now 8 months and it took him a week to adjust and his stool is normal and he does not have trouble anymore. And no more smelly farts. Wellness is great!
