Since your company discontinued Pure Vita Salmon which my dog had been eating for over 5 years, I thought I'd try Wellness Salmon since the ingredients seemed to be the same. However the kibble size are larger & Harley doesn't seem to like it. He sniffs his bowl and walks away. It's been 3 days now , I have to mix his food with people food to get him to eat & yet he doesn't finish all his food like he did with Pure Vita. I'll give him a week or so to get used to the change in his food. Although I appreciate you discounting the Wellness food, I. Not sure it's worth it if he doesn't like it. Delivery was quick & simple & so far love Chewy.

  • Great for allergies - dogs like it

I have one dog who can only eat salmon based grain-free kibble. I've slowly been working my way through the various limited offer of salmon kibbles that did not contain some sort of chicken or egg, no grain, and did not cost a fortune. I finally came across Wellness SImple. I was reluctant to try it, since it really has limited ingredients. I did not think the dogs would like it. But they DO! This is small kibble, which I have to use for my little AmStaffy, who tends to choke on foods. She usually eats, then throws up all of her food (we have tile throughout the house because of her) and ingests it again (sorry for the drastic picture). With this kibble, she has not regurgitated everything. I have one dog who can only eat salmon based grain-free kibble. With this kibble, she has not regurgitated everything. Just the few last bites come back, which is a relief to everybody in the household. My Aussie, who has horrible allergies and has lived most his summers chewing on himself, despite benadryl and medicinal baths, is much more restful. He still chews a bit right after after eating, but it's not the prolonged manic chewing he done in the past. The others eat anything without hesitation or repercussions, so they are not a consideration for my choice of dog foods. The poops produced on this food are a bit larger than I am used to. I had to check if they looked like the poops of dogs that eat hay-based kibble, but the poops have good consistency, and seem to be larger because of the potatoes. All in all, I will stick with this, until it's time to switch. I rotate my dogs' food every few months, so their liver and kidney get a 'reboot' and are not bombarded with the same junk all the time. … more

  • Defective batch

    By on

Am having issues with recent batch dated 18 FEB 20. There is something wrong with it. They have re shipped me different cases, but all with this date is mushy to the point of running ( I can almost pour it out of can). I'm concerned about the quality as one of my pets is diabetic and on a very strict diet. Neither of my pets want to eat it. Every other date appears to be fine.

  • Dogs love this food

I have 3 shih-tzus and one of them has severe allergy/skin issues. After trying everything and researching online I decided to take him off chicken and grains and go with a limited ingredient food. Salmon or fish is supposed to be good for skin/allergy problems and this food got high ratings and good reviews. My dogs love it and it seems to be helping thank goodness!!!! I am going to order the exact one for small breeds, since the kibble will be smaller I thought it might be easier for them to eat. One of them ate it just fine, but the other 2 were having a little issue with chewing. As far as ordering from Chewy, I'm a fairly new customer and I'm hooked. • Great for allergy dog

    By on

Our dog has had ongoing issues with allergies. Our usually brand must have changed the formula which caused a flair up with the allergies. Itching, yeast in joints. Since switching to this food we have had no issues. I would recommend to anyone looking to cut out all the fillers in other food brands.

  • So happy I found this food!

This food has been the BEST for our 2 year old Goldendoodle. I was feeding him Blue Buffalo as a puppy, but noticed that he had bad dandruff & loose stool. We switched him to Merrick, and his dandruff cleared up but he still had loose stool, accidents in the house and consistent stomach issues. I felt so bad for him. We tried adding pumpkin, sweet potatoes, a probiotic. I realized that he was also sensitive to Chicken, ( one of the Merrick ingredients) and suspected gluten. I knew his stomach tolerated lamb, duck and salmon. Finally I did some more research, read reviews and decided to switch to Wellness Simple Ingredient. Since then, he has dramatically improved! Easy to set up an account. My dogs have been eating this for years and the price at local store topped at $75 a bag. Saved on initial order by $30 and saving still with autoship. No more forgetting to go to the store!!

  • A solution for an eating problem.

    By on

It was a fight to get one of my dogs to eat another Wellness product which the other two loved. I decided to try this limited formula. She actually comes running now when her dish is placed on the floor and eats all of her portion. It is possible it is easier for her to digest.

  • 5 years of "wellness"

My pups have eaten wellness salmon & potato for 5 years. My Australian Shepherd mix lived to almost 18 years old. I credit feeding premium dog food along with huge dose of love. My Cairn Terrier mix has stomach problems this the only food I have found which agrees with him.
