Description

Wysong Epigen represents the first important kibble pet food innovation in almost 60 years (patent pending) and moves conventional dry extruded pet foods much closer to the high protein meat-based, starchless foods carnivores are genetically designed for. With that, they are given greater opportunity to enjoy their full natural health. Epigen is equally appropriate for both cats and dogs and has the natural flavor and taste that pets truly desire.

  • More closely resembles the food your pet is designed to eat
  • Contains unprecedented and unequalled meat content, including organic - 60% meat, 60% protein
  • Made in the USA at Wysong manufacturing facilities with ingredients from USDA and FDA approved domestic sources

  • Great high protein - watch for changed poop

I've used Wysong Epigen Chicken, and Epigen 90, with my high driving performance dog, rotating between the different Epigen formulations with every 5 lb bag (which lasts about 17 days for my dog). Unfortunately, it seems my dog's GI tract has developed sensitivity to chicken in the Wysong kibble formulations - not the freeze dried, and not raw chicken. She eats with enthusiasm, but the output on the south end tends to lose cohesion, if chicken hasn't been in her food for a while and the necessary gut microbes aren't present in sufficient quantity to take advantage of chicken protein. Most dry foods suggest transitioning a dog to a new food over about 10 days; perhaps solid output would result from feeding the same formulation for several bags in a row, so the gut microbes had a chance to catch up. Since Wysong is only packaged in 5 lb. bags, in practical terms this might mean feeding one formula for four bags (20 lbs), and transitioning to the next formula during the fifth bag in your rotation. Aside from the cleanup issues, this food maintains weight, gives my dog all the energy she needs, and has helped her grow in a lovely thick coat. … more

  • Great Brand!

I love Wysong! So many options to choose from but I ultimately went with this one due to great price & a protein content that fits my dogs needs. So glad my coworker told me about this brand. My dog loves it & I know it's good for him so it's a win-win.

  • Wonderful product

    By on Top 250 Contributor

This is the answer for people who have multiple pets and cannot afford the top kibbles!!! This is a top kibble at a grocery store price. Wysong also makes an Epigen 90 which is twice as much but has 90% meat, and NO starch! I buy this most often and once in a while spluge on the Epigen 90. This is for BOTH cats and dogs, just the most wonderful product. I trust Wysong, a plant in Michigan.

  • Great cat food.

I got this food for my cat as well as to mix into my ferret food mix. It works great for the cat and he loves it but the ferret mostly eats around it. It is high quality and a great food if your pet likes it.

I only supplement my 3 cats with minimal dry food in the morning. They will eat this if I mix it in with Petcurean Go Fit or Orijen Regional Red.

My babies won't eat this. It is hard to find a 5 star food that my fur babies will eat.

  • Most of my cats wont eat

    By on

I bought this mainly for my 17 year old hyperthyroid cat, as he needs high protein food to keep weight on. I have 5 other cats and thought I would try this on all of them. They all ate it at first, then turned their noses up at it. However, my 17 year old will eat it and it has helped his weight. I mixed it with another kibble and the others seemed more inclined to eat it.

  • I like the food, my cat does not.

I have been feeding a well known grain free brand to my kitten but now that he is almost a year I really wanted to switch him to a diet more designed for the carnivore he is. He's not much of a picky eater, not a fan of red meat but loves all thing poultry/bird or salmon. When I introduced the Wysong he took one sniff, one lick then turned and walked away without even taking one bite. I've had to mix it with much more wet food than usual and even then he will pick around the kibble to get every bit of wet food and then even lick the wet off the kibble bits. This has resulted in much looser stool with a much stronger smell. My poor guy has even lost a bit a weight from his refusal to eat. I was really wanting him to love this food as much as I love the idea of how healthy it can be for him. I have broken down and bought a bad of his old food again because I am worried about any more weight loss. Perhaps I'll try a sample bag of a different Wysong product and see if I have better results. Yes I would still recommend this food to a friend but would urge them to try sample sizes first. … more
