About Zignature Dog Food

Learning From Nature

Learning From Nature

Zignature took all of nature's best ingredients and added key nutrients to create a dog food with complete nutrition. In these Physiologically Tuned formulas, meat always comes first, and they've eliminated common allergy-inducing proteins and fillers that are hard to digest. These grain- and gluten-free recipes feature premium proteins, low glycemic carb sources and a limited number of ingredients. It's exactly what your pup should be eating—nothing more, and nothing less.

Meat-First Philosophy

The first ingredient in any list is the most important, because it tells you what the majority of the food is made of. Some commercial pet foods take the easy way out with high-starch carbs near the top of the list. In each of Zignature's dry foods, meat not only comes first, but also second. A quality animal protein source starts off the recipe, followed by a meat or fish meal for an extra helping of the amino acids your pet needs and the flavor he craves.

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

All of Zignature's formulas are free of the most common canine allergen—chicken. And that includes chicken eggs, meal and by-products. As hypoallergenic foods, both wet and dry formulas also avoid the usual sources of stomach upset, including gluten, grains, corn, wheat, soy and dairy. Zignature never uses binding agents that are full of simple carbs and starches; instead, these recipes have low glycemic legumes that deliver extra protein and fiber.

Simple Is Best

Zignature isn't just the diet nature intended—it's even better. They've improved on nature's recipe to give your pup the right amount of each nutrient, and they've done it with the fewest possible ingredients. Just like meals in the wild, these recipes are limited in content for easy digestion and less chance of food sensitivities. These limited ingredient diets have single protein sources, so they're easy to rotate to give your dog a taste of something new.

Simple Is Best
Only the Best Ingredients

Only the Best Ingredients

To create these nourishing dishes, Zignature gathered the best possible ingredients from trusted sources around the world. Trout, salmon and whitefish all come from the Pacific waters of the Northwest; turkey is raised in the Midwest; duck comes from farms in Western France; kangaroo is brought over from Australia; and venison and lamb are delivered from New Zealand farmlands. Healthy fruits and veggies are harvested from several North American farms based on the season.

Ingredients

Zignature makes nutritious formulas with no artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.

CHICKPEAS: Low-glycemic legumes that promote stable blood sugar and provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, extra protein and copper.

FLAXSEED: Derived from whole, ground seeds of the Flax plant for an outstanding offering of omega-3 fatty acids for coat health, plus soluble fiber for digestion.

ALFALFA MEAL: A natural grass that's rich in vitamins A and C, niacin and calcium, and it also makes a great source of protein and fiber.

SUNFLOWER OIL: Pressed from sunflower oil, it supplies the omega-6 essential fatty acids that your pet needs to maintain skin and coat health.

  • Picky Eaters Love

    By on

My two very picky Great Pyrenees LOVE this food. It is not unusual for food to sit in their bowls for one or two days until they get hungry enough to eat. I have tried many grain free foods and most of them were not inexpensive. I put this in their bowls for the first time and they tried it right away which is their usual behavior when presented with new food. Each time I feed them, twice a day, they come over to eat within minutes. We are 3/4 through the bag and they still act like it is a new and exciting food. Well worth a try if you have picky eaters!

  • Pros and Cons - Undecided

    By on

First, I have to say my dog eats everything and never turns down food - until now. We changed his food to have a better ingriedient quality and higher protein content. My dog no longer gets excited for meal time and he won't eat his entire portion unless I add toppings or peanut better. The pros: his fur is softer, he's shedding less, and his poop is a much better consistently (although they STINK now). I'll probably try a different Zignature flavor and if that doesn't appeal to him, a new brand will be chosen.

  • BEST DOG FOOD EVER!!!!

    By on

We had our two German Shepherds on Taste of the Wild, but then we noticed how they were extremely skinny and their coats were very rough. They also seemed to dislike their food. We switched onto Zignature, and those dogs did a complete 100. Brontz started slowly gaining weight and now his coat is super soft--like velvet! Hanz is getting better, too. The food smells great, and both dogs seem to love it--bowls licked clean. Brontz also has digestive issues. Not with this food! No throwing up, and no diarrhea. I would recommend this food to anyone with a dog!

  • Not a happy pup

    By on

Sorry to say as much as Petey GOBBLED UP the Pork variety, he greatly dislikes the Turkey one. As we are thrilled with the brand as a whole, it takes quiet a great deal to adjust and basically alter the Turkey food I chose to give him. He is not a picky eater at all, so lesson learned. We will be going back to the original pork variety.

  • The Packs food

    By on

This food has been and excellent item We began this when a new puppy arrived to the pack at the ranch. Dogs now from 5 months to 14 years. Our puppy maintained excellent weight(5 months @ 53lbs) and our older dog have great energy. All dogs eat less and love the food. All stage food. I also put great time into selecting this brand due to ingredients.

  • Lots of poop but at least firm

    By on

My dog has a lot of food sensitivities that lead to runny poop. He can't even handle apples. What kind of dog can't eat apples? So I've been on the hunt for the right food for him since he was a puppy. This one seems to keep his poop a consistent firm texture. The only other food that comes close the the nutro limited ingredient salmon but he gets bored with flavors very easily so had to switch. I think I'll keep this in rotation and try the other zignature flavors too. I like that for about the same price as other brands of similar quality, I don't have to feed as much. The only con I found was that he does have more weighty poop and poops 2-3 times per walk now as opposed to his previous My dog has a lot of food sensitivities that lead to runny poop. • Great product

My dog began having seizures and thought it was something in her food. Switched to one without Yuma and Rosemary and she hasn’t had one since. I tried samples and found that my dogs love the turkey.

We love Zignature. My dogs love the taste, their allergies have completely subsided, and their coats look amazing. There is not a formula they don't like and one of them is very picky.

  • Dogs won't eat

    By on

My dogs will only eat this by nibbling through out the day. They don't seem to like it very much. I won't pick it up, so eventually they eat it. Im not sure if it's the flavor or the size of bites. Which are bigger than what they are used too. I have always bought small bite because my dogs are chihuahuas.
