Frequently Asked Questions

If I give my pet a Ziwi Peak treat, how much food should I feed?

There is a lot of goodness in every Ziwi Peak treat, so we recommend you modify the amount of Ziwi Peak food at feeding time. Your pet won’t need as much if he or she has had treats, so reduce accordingly. Much as pets love them, Ziwi Peak treats don’t make a complete daily diet. Use them as a premium real-meat treat to occasionally reward your dog or cat’s good behavior.

I use ZiwiPeak dog food as training treats for my pup. He is 10 months old now and ive been using ZiwiPeak since he was about 4 months old. This was recommended to me by my dog's trainer as a healthy way to reward your dog! My dog is extremely picky and will turn his nose up to almost everything I offer him (or get bored of things quicky). BUT he loooooves this stuff! The Venison flavor has been his favorite so far. I buy the smallest sized bags so I can switch up the flavors. My dog is a 7lb toy poodle so he needs very small rewards otherwise he will get full very quickly during training. ZiwiPeak food is extremely easy to break up. I would definitely recommend this as a training treat. Awesome I use ZiwiPeak dog food as training treats for my pup. • A GOD-SEND!

We have a 16 1/2 year-old Schnauzer who has always been a finicky eater, but incredibly more so as he's gotten older. It is a daily battle to find something he will eat. Home made foods, beef, pork tenderloin, fish, potatoes, eggs and cottage cheese, wet or dry, dehydrated, air dried, canned, boxed, bagged, rolled, bottled, cooked, you name it, I try everything. Occassionally he'll eat something once, maybe twice, but then he smells it and walks away instantly. ZiwiPeak has been a blessing. He actually eats this food. AND it makes great healthy treats all throughout the day for him and our other 3 dogs. As long as he keeps eating it, i'll keep buying it, so far so good. Thanks Ziwi. • So far so good my very picky dog woofed it down!

I have a cocker spaniel that is very prone to yeast infections. I have been in and out of vets offices. Finally I went to a veterinary dermatologist and with the elimination diet we found out that she cannot have any potatoes as well as grains and only can tolerate Venison.Nice! . This is the only food that I have found that doesn't make her scratch. It is pricey though so I'm ordered Brothers dry Venison and Egg from Chewy today to see if I can use that with this to help with cost. Btw she is picky but loves this food.

  • Must taste Great to dogs!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I would say that this is a great way to please your dog with added nutrition! I occasionally add one scoop of this to his regular dinner kibble for added Love ! If you want to see your dog jump for joy..this is it. Because of extreme price, I could not use as his only food. He is a 93 pound Shepherd.

  • Next best thing to feeding raw

    By on

I have done months of research to find the healthiest and least processed dog food next to feeding raw. This is the closest thing i could find. I have been feeding this brand to my two shih tzus for a couple of years now. They love it! I love the fact the animal meat comes from a known source from good farms. I love that its air dried because all the other foods out there heat/cook their meat to kill the bacteria and that also kills the good bacteria your dog would have gotten from the meat if he ate it in the wild. I love that there are absolutely NO fillers of any kind and is a one protein source diet.

  • Best dog food.

    By on

We have the most fussy dog. He will not eat any dog food. He will go days without eating. My niece told me about this dog food and it worked out. Now, he will eat almost regularly. It is kind of pricey, but it beats paying 15+ or more and then throwing it out. At least he eats this, which I am happy about.

  • Quality matches the Price

    By on

My Feist's allergies are mitigated by eating venison. Instead of feeding him mine from the freezer, I purchased this. It is a high quality food, but I would not be able to keep him on it were he a large dog (he's only 15 lbs) due to the price. I will feed this until fall when I can kill an extra deer for him to eat during the next year.

  • Best food!!

    By on

My previous dog ate this when she wouldn't eat anything else. And my current dog loves it, too. The only problem, and it isn't really a problem, is that sometimes the food in the bag is a little harder than it is supposed to be when you first open the bag.It is still fresh - just not as soft as it should be. (And this happens normally over time once the bag has been opened, even when you reseal it.) So I just put the pieces in a microwave with a wet paper towel over it for 10 seconds and it is soft again.

  • very high quality food

...however my puppy is semi-enthused. my breeder started him on it so i have continued with it. K9-Natural is preferred by my puppy so mostl likely I will migrate to that full time with a high-quality kibble supplement.
