I’ve had my feeder and treater for a little over a year now best decision of my life. Easy to control feeding portions and times. I have the feeders facing each other so I can check to see if the pan is empty or not. Sometimes the Wi-Fi stops working on them, but it still feeds them when the program time is.
I purchased this feeder in 2020 due to it having a camera and a few other features I was looking for at the time. The camera on this feeder gives me peace of mind when i am on a vacation or taking a trip. I worry about my 3 cats a lot when i cant physically come home to them, so having the ability to see them and talk to them makes me very happy. It will send an alert to the phone app if it has missed a scheduled feeding, or is low on kibble. I used to have connection issues quite often and thought it was the feeder, but later I switched internet providers and it has been working PERFECTLY ever since. I DO recommend this feeder, as the price point is fair, it is reliable, and it has not had any mechanical issues thus far. This feeder is a good alternative to buying a litter robot feeder, in my humble opinion. Nit Picks: - The power cord is just a USB cord, so it needs to be plugged into a adapter(included) to have any power. It looks bulky on the outlet it's plugged into. - Your internet quality will absolutely effect the connection if it does not have a strong signal. - it is NOT MOTION ACTIVATED. It will not let you know if your pet is at the feeder or not.
I got this specifically because I’m going out of town and need to make sure that my 18.5 year old cat can eat whenever he wants—so the idea was that I could feed him remotely, and smaller portions so the other cat who is on a urinary diet with strict portions won’t eat any leftovers. It is surprisingly huge out of the box, but I actually thought that would be good when I get back from my trip and am using it for the 3 cats on the same diet (the two youngest babies are going on the trip). I needed a feeder that dispenses smaller portions, which this does, but you actually have to use a screwdriver to replace the dispenser turntable, and I broke one of them in the process (despite being careful). I got everything put together, and food in the unit, but haven’t been able to get it to connect, so I’ve just been scooping the food out manually which isn’t going to help me while I’m out of town. I got another feeder (different brand) connected for the other cat, and I ordered this one separately after because the other does not have the smaller portion option. I don’t need such a pricey food container, so I’ve got a return started for it. Also, fyi this does take 3 D-cell batteries for battery backup. I don’t use that size for anything else, so I’ve got some random sized batteries that I don’t need. Listen to the other reviews. I took a chance because of the smaller portion, but I’m leaving tomorrow for my trip and this isn’t going to work. I ended up getting my pet sitter for 3 times a day, and Bugsy will just have to get his fill with those three meals (he eats like 20 teensy meals a day).
Pros: 1) Dispenses food online and offline at certain times 2) metal bowl 3) Has a camera Cons: 1) The camera points straight ahead and not at the bowl. 2) The camera is too high, so my cat's ears are visible if she stands in front of it 3) The camera is not a smart camera so I don't know when my pet is using the feeder 4) It took a couple of tries to get the feeder to connect to the internet 5) The feeder constantly goes "Offline" and you can't use the camera or see if the feeder actually worked. I think this is more of a problem with the app, though, as I've found rebooting the app brings it back "online" Improvements for Chewy 1) Chewy doesn't have the dimensions online, this thing is huge at 16.5x9.5 inches around the base. So it doesn't fit on the counter where we feed our cat in a way that the cat can comfortably eat from it. 2) There's an updated version of this device, which I thought I was getting because the price matches other retail sites, but it's the older version. There's no way to tell on the site.
Was difficult to get working, first of all—took around five tries. When it finally came online I found out there’s no way to turn off the camera or even the green light—ever. Regardless, when trying to connect remotely, it showed offline more often than not so it was completely useless. Furthermore, I have a crafty and ever-hungry little furbaby who discovered that he could try turning the gears of the motor by sticking his paw up the chute since there is NO DOOR ON IT! This is incredibly dangerous!! Would not recommend at all.
This product is so expensive and doesn’t even connect. Waste of my moneyyyy.
The app is highly unreliable. Nonsensical, microscopic instructions and indecipherable error messages. Took multiple tries to link it up to the feeder. Cam freezes and feeder goesoffline. No way to turn the camera on and off without disconnecting the entire thing. And there’s no flap covering the opening where the food comes out so my cat sticks his arm directly in the feeder where the motor turns to dispense the food. Extremely dangerous! Will be returning this immediately if Chewy is kind enough to let me return it even though I began setting it up after the return window already closed. Sigh.
When they work, they work fine. But every time I login they show offline. I have 4 of these and they all do the same, so it most be an issue with the software. I have to refresh or close app and reconnect several times before it finally works. Too much hassle for how expensive these things are.
I received this feeder as a gift in 2019, three years later still working great, I give it five stars for my experience but my sister was unable to connect hers to wifi, hence the four stars. The camera feature not only let me check in on my dogter it also serves as an extra security camera. Took a couple tries to connect to wi-fi but after a few tries I have it set up for scheduled feeding , very simple you just indicate the portion size and and it also allows for you to add your voice in case you running a little late during meal times your furbaby can still hear you call them to eat!
I purchased this back in May 2021. It worked great for the whole summer and I had no issues. Easy set up and all that. Fast forward to about a few months ago and the feeder started to disconnect from the app. I'd follow the instructions to bind the feeder again to my app/phone, but it wasn't working. I had to then turn off my wifi router, turn it back on, then go through the connection process again. I've had to do this 1-3 times some weeks, with the occasional full week of no issues. But now, that doesn't work anymore. I have been trying for days to get the feeder to connect to the app with absolutely no luck. I've reset my wifi multiple times, keep trying to reconnect, and it just doesn't work. I also bought an Art Pets autofeeder that was bundled with a Wyze camera, and I've had no issues at all with either of those. So I think if you are okay with spending a bunch of money for something to work for the short term, then Dogness might be for you. But if you'd like your product to last longer than 6 months, look elsewhere.
