Loved it, until I found a worm....

    By on

This food is a great called cost, size, and nutrition-wise for my big mutt. It also helped that he would eat the food (well, with a topper. but, he consistently eats it with a topper while other brands, even with a topper, he'd get bored of it. So picky). His poops were great on this! He has a sensitive digestion system and he hasn't vomited at all and his poops are pretty solid while on this. Unfortunately, about a 1/4 of the way through the bag, I noticed some white fibers on some of the kibble. Sometimes the white fibers would stick pieces of kibble together. It was only on two pieces and continued to feed this food for another week. Today I found the probable cause of these fibers: a worm This food is a great called cost, size, and nutrition-wise for my big mutt. Would've taken a picture of the worm but it crawled deeper into the bag as I was trying to turn my flash on. Didn't really want to put my hand in the bag to dig it out at that point... 2 stars only because I really did like the food while I used it.... probably won't purchase it again though. Just because my trust in it has been shaken... … more

    Fantastic price and shipping

Very quick free shipping with 30% off my 1st order. The Addiction MEGA dog food from NZ is pretty expensive but chewy was the best price I could find. My big bull mastiff/pit (most relaxed dog ever!)has had a bad odor ever since we rescued him. Now after a couple of weeks absolutely no smell. Awesome hard to find dog food!!! I hit the subscribe shipping and will get this order ever couple of months. Couldn't be easier.

After some math, food is worth it!

Be aware that the recommended feedings on the back are not the same conversions you would see on a North American bag of dog food! The feeding instructions are for example "20 oz for a 100 lb dog" So that is in ounces! In a 44 pound bag of food there are 704 ounces. At 3,285 cal/KILOGRAM, you have to basically long story short figure out how many calories of this whole bag of dog food is in a normal ounce. THERE ARE 93 CALORIES PER OUNCE. So one thing I realized when feeding this food to my dog, is that I have to figure out myself how many calories my rottie needs per day since he's very active for 3+ hours a day. That means for a 100 pound active dog, he needs 2200 calories a day(it would Be aware that the recommended feedings on the back are not the same conversions you would see on a North American bag of dog food! That means for a 100 pound active dog, he needs 2200 calories a day(it would be higher but I supplement with raw and canned so I keep kibble a couple hundred lower). So 2200/93 = 23.7 OUNCES 23.7 ounces / 8 ounces = 2.965 cups per day! This food is amazingly dense at 3 cups a day for an active 100 pound dog! I'm giving it 4 stars because I had to route back to 5th grade to figure out how much I need to feed my dog properly with the way of the United States. 4 stars more so because the protein is very low at 20%, so you HAVE to supplement like freeze dried raw or actual raw to really make this meal have more sustenance with your dog's muscle system. But when you want to figure out how long this bag will last me, you have to divide your dogs ounces per day by 16oz (as in a pound) So: 23.7/16 = 1.48 pounds per day consumed Then 44/1.48 = 29.7 days I like how it's 44 pounds and basically 3 cups a day will last this bag near 30 days for me! This is an immense breath of fresh air since I'm used to feeding 5 cups a day or one time even 6 cups and these were higher end type foods like over $3.50 per pound... and this stuff is $95 for 44!! But remember - have caution regarding the protein level. You NEED to add something to your dogs kibble unless you have a senior, honestly super inactive little companion dog, or a dog with kidney issues. But the price of buying canned food isn't a big deal to me or to just buy huge amounts of very very lean ground beef or pork, freezing it for 3 weeks, and then giving raw with the kibble. Hope this helps! … more
