Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • Fantastic brand and Chewy is awesome!

    By on

Our St Bernard puppy loves this food! He gobbles it down. It's perfect for his rapid growth! He does not seem to experience knuckling over and other growing pain issues like giant breed dogs are prone to, which I believe is because of the carefully balanced nutrition of this food. Chewy is amazing, also! Always gets here to us within 48 hrs but usually its less than 24. We buy all of our pets foods here, now.

  • English mastiff

My English mastiff has benefited from this chow so much . I've had English mastiff in the past. Their growth always seemed unbalanced. . I've been feeding my new campaign since 10 weeks to present (1year). I noticed the difference in a quality dog food

  • Finally!!!!!

    By on

Third try for our Dane puppy. Finally found a food that agrees with him! These giant breeds have such sensitive tummies, this supports his fickle belly!

Needed special food for my Great Dane puppy and it's almost $80 per bag locally. Chewy.com had the same thing for over $20 cheaper per bag. Plus it was free shipping and it arrived in 3 days.

  • Love Royal Canin!

    By on

I have a 3 month old Great Dane on this food and she loves it. Her coat is shiny, she has great energy level and her vet appointments have been great so far, no problems at all! Her stool is firm, she has not had problems with gas or diarrhea. I have 2 of my other dogs on Royal Canin and have great results with them as well. This came highly recommended by our vet!
