Ever since I adopted my rescue baby a year and a half ago, he has never had a good, solid stool. Upon adoption he was empirically treated for worms and parasites even though his stool tests were negative. I switched his food from Science Diet (what he was on at the shelter) to a grain free quality food from Honest Kitchen with small improvements, supplementing his diet with organic pastured chicken. I even tried enzymes and probiotics with disastrous results- worsening diarrhea. He has been treated for recurrent colitis and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). Multiple cycles of Cerenia and metronidazole later, here I am. I was desperate for this to work. I recieved this from FedEx 2 days ago. Since last night, he had the first solid poo! I know it's only been 2 days but I seriously almost cried when I picked up his poop and it wasn't a watery, mucoid pile that I couldn't even scoop up with a bag. I'm hoping it will keep working. This product did what immodium and antibiotics couldn't.

by bluestraycat It helped!
I tried this with two of my cats. One has suspect IBD, the other has occasional diarrhea. I've only been using it for about a week, but it has helped - both have been "regular" for the past week on this. I mixed it into their canned food, neither seemed to mind the taste. The can is a little bigger than a soda can. It should last a while - especially for cats and small dogs. If you have a cat or dog with GI issues, it's worth a try!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Cort Forms thick paste...not too appealing
When mixed with water and/or into canned food, it becomes very thick and goopy...not something cats will like. It has a cardboard kind of scent and just cant be hidden in food or sucked into a syringe for oral administering. No idea if it helps with digestion for my two cats seeing how its not IN them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jerryoki Great for Dogs with Stress-Induced Bowel Issues
My dog had a bout of inflammatory bowel issues. He had blood in his stool, and was having accidents in the house. After an antibiotic and prescription food, the blood went away and his stools firmed up.
I tried switching him back to his old kibble, but every time I did, the blood would reappear. All of this irritation to his gut has taken its toll. He is on a new food, but whenever he is stressed and has diarrhea from it, I still find pink areas in his stool.
This supplement has helped a lot with the irritation in his intestines. Slippery elm (an ingredient in this) coats the lining of the intestines to stop irritation (colon produced mucous and blood when irritated).
I give him this supplement before we go on car rides, which make him anxious and inevitably gives him diarrhea once we reach our destination. I haven't seen any blood in his stool since using this for stressful situations.
He doesn't like the taste, but I mix it in with chicken broth and then he eats it just fine. Absolutely worth it for my dog's comfort.

by Iggy Works great from the first time.
I have an Italian Greyhound with IBS and this product is a must for him. I add a small amount with each feeding and he no longer has mucus or blood in his stool. They are firm also. I was recommended this product by a friend when Tino had his first flair with IBS and have been using it ever since. If my other dogs have an occasional stomach upset with diarrhea I immediately add this to their food and problem is solved. This product is a must for Tino along with his special limited diet.

by retrieversrule Amazing life saver!
My Norwich Terrier was diagnosed with Protein Losing Enteropathy & Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth over two years ago. Even with steroids, Cyclosprin, antibiotics, probiotics & special diets we were losing the battle. His protein level was so low he was non-functioning & he had frequent painful bouts of colic, intestinal spasms, diarrhea. Six months ago a sales rep @Chewy recommended this product. I had little hope it would do anything, especially since it is also for cats. Thank God I tried it. The improvement after one day was amazing. We have celebrated perfect poops and increasing protein levels (1.8 went up to 4)
ever since. He is still on the medications but at much lower doses, less than half of previous. Who would think the cheapest, non-prescription, easiest to administer item would cause the most improvement?
I use much less of this than the directions say. I simply mix 1/8 tsp in meal 2x/day. At first the odor was off putting but by day 2 he was gobbling it up. His vet & specialist are both recommending this product to other patients now. Six months have proved to them what a wonder this product can be. Thank you Chewy for having customer service people that are so trained & helpful. You saved Stormy's life.
