Description

Precious Cat Classic...this is Dr. Elsey’s original litter and is very popular with cat owners who want a hard clumping, low tracking litter. It features a larger, denser particle that stays in the litter box better than fine grain litters. It clumps very hard and will not break apart in the litter box. Clumps that break down leave small pieces in the litter box. The small pieces left behind are odor. The better the clump, the better the litter!

Key Benefits
  • 99.9% dust free, hypo-allergenic natural litter.
  • Contains no plant proteins.
  • Hard clumping, superior odor control.
  • Low tracking.
  • Ideal for sifting/mechanical litter boxes.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

  • Add Precious Cat as needed to maintain three inches in the box. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling the litter box.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.
Transition Instructions
  • Pour Precious Cat into a clean litter box, using half as much as you would with a clay based litter.
  • Top off the Precious Cat with the litter you are using now, mixing as you add.
  • Give your cat time to get used to the crystal texture.
  • Once your cat is used to the crystal texture (about one week), empty the litter box completely into the trash, and refill with Precious Cat.

I love the litter I’ve used all kinds that says clumps hard and the other reason 99% does not stick inside their paws that can hurt. 2 reasons I gave it a 4 1 I would appreciate for chewy to send it boxed separate on orders 49 or more so it would not crush products in box. The other is 40lbs and over on a purchase that Chewy would give a 10% discount because I need a 40 and a 18lb. With 4 cats when they urinate the clumps are so big it soaks up every drop so it has to be filled with litter every other day, A hint for customers keep a pal to pour the bag in it and keep s plastic quart container to use to add litter

    Dustiest litter I've ever used

    By on

I've tried multiple litters from Dr. Elsey's and this one caught my eye for its odor control, because the ones I've tried before it--the touch of outdoors and ultra clumping--didn't do much for the odor. When I changed the litter in the litterbox, there was a huge dust cloud, which I thought was normal because I was pouring a large amount of litter into the litterbox, but even when I just scoop the litterbox, there are clouds of dust. Even when my cats just use the litterbox, there is dust. I gave this litter two stars because it does control the odor pretty well, but the amount of dust it releases is a very large negative, plus the smell coming from the dust also. Better than Ultra

    By on

Had beed using Dr Elsey's Ultra for 2 years, but decided to try the Classic since it was cheaper at the time. So much better than Ultra. With Ultra, I had to take over litter box duty from my pre-teen daughters since they weren't strong enough to get all the clumps off the bottom of the box. Not a problem with Classic. Sorry Girls! You're back on litter duty. And we'll end up using less since we won't need to make the litter so deep as to keep clumps from the bottom.

    Good litter

    By on

This litter hardly makes any dust. I love that and that is why I purchased it. The odor control is great. The clumping is good although there are some crumbles. I'd rather have crumbles than rock hard clumps which I had using the Dr Elseys blue bagged litter. As long as your scoop has narrow slots it picks it all up. I also ordered the smaller 7 lb bag because it's easier for me to lift and pour. Would have given this a five star But the tracking is terrible. It is advertised as low tracking and that is just not true. I have a 4x6 rug that my cats walk on immediate as they step out of the litter box. Unfortunately the litter gets tracked into other rooms. Best litter by far

    By on

I have tried almost every pricey litter available this year after moving to a small house. No contest, this litter is the best. (any of the unscented dr elseys are great.) Controls odor without being scented. Clumps well. Tracks a little bit but is very easy to sweep up, because it makes NO DUST. Also, my cats prefer this litter. When I have an alternate litter in their second litter box they only use the box with dr elseys. Worth every penny.

    Not so precious

    By on

I just must have 3 weirdo cats. Would not use this litter. Has been untouched by all 3 cats.you would think one out of would at least be curious. They were curious but never returned. Continued to use the old stuff.

    Changed my mind

    By on

I decided to try this litter again because my daughter likes it so much for her cats. I did and I've changed my earlier opinion of it. I think it's a good litter.

What this the difference in this litter?I use the Ultra

    By on

I use the Ultra. Have been for many many years. Not satisfied with it but cats are use to it & afraid to change. It is absolutely NOT DUST FREE! It also clumps like you need a" jack hammer" to remove from sides. The only reason I have not changed is don't want the cats to go other places. Since the CATS don"t have to chop it off sides of box or Sweep it up all OVER THE BATHROOM I continue to use. It is expensive for what you get.

Good litter, just difficult to scoop

    By on

All varieties of Dr. Elsey's litter do the job and stay in the box pretty well. However, they clump so hard that scooping almost requires a hammer and chisel. Not ideal for seniors like me. Frisco litter works better for me, and costs less.

    Great cat litter

    By on

This cat litter is great. It clumps like it's suppose to. My cats seem to like it and they are picky about their litter. My only issue is it doesn't have supurb odor control, it doesn't last 7 days only 4. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
