What is the difference between the long haired silica gel litter, the senior silica gel litter and the respiratory relief silica gel litter?
Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
The Senior Litter is a small particle silica litter that is infused with hydrolyzed herbs to draw cats to the litter box. The small particles give it a soft texture, which is ideal for older cats or those with sensitive paws. The Long Haired Litter is not as fine as Senior and won’t adhere to the cat’s coat. It is also infused with hydrolyzed herbs to draw cats to the box. The Respiratory Relief is infused with stress-reducing herbal essences, which can be an important factor in controlling Feline Respiratory Disease. All Dr. Elsey's silica formulas are low dust, non-toxic and hypo-allergenic and do not contain perfumes, deodorants, perfumes or plant proteins.

WhT is the difference between this Long Hair Litter and Dr.Elseys respiratory relief?
Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2019
The Long Haired Litter is made specifically for cat's with long fur. It will not adhere to the cat’s long fur and it will not color the coat. The Respiratory Relief Clumping Clay Litter helps control respiratory disease in cats because it is low in dust and hypo-allergenic with no plant proteins, perfumes or deodorants.

Is this litter flushable?
Answer by ChewyOct 27, 2017
This cat litter should not be flushed in toilets or disposed of outdoors in gutters or storm drains.

Do you need the pee pads since it is non clumping?
Answer by ChewyJan 12, 2020
It's not recommend to use a pee pad with this litter.

not the same

we used the long haired litter for years and loved it. tried the senior one when long hair was discontinued, it's sooooooo dusty. tried this one and it's the same!! they say this replaced the long haired one but I can't imagine how, they're different and the new formulas are so much dustier. this was our go to litter for years and I have tried everything else in the crystal category, I can't find anything comparable to the long hair formula. not sure what my cats are going to do but super disappointed with Dr elsey's decisions on this, we miss the old stuff

Don’t waste your money!

I’ve been buying Dr. Elsey’s Senior for my two cats for years and it always lasted for a month with daily cleaning and storing. I even put the litter box in the sun for an hour or so on pretty days. Over the last few months, the same litter I’ve bought for years is barely lasting for two weeks before smelling up the room. I’ve written to the company asking if the formula has changed but they say it hasn’t. I can’t believe it hasn’t because nothing has changed in my home. It is already very expensive so I am very disappointed that it is not costing me double $’s than in the past. Something has changed in the formula or it would be performing as it has in the past. I even tried the larger crystals as recommended but it doesn’t last either. I’ve recommended Dr. Elsey’s to many people in the past but never again.

Disappointed

I hopped onto the crystal cat litter trend, thanks to the social media efforts of “Pretty Litter”. Pretty Litter is pricey and I had been using Dr. Elsey’s clumping clay cat litter for years and have loved it due to it’s superior clumping ability so I decided to try their crystal litter. I bought a bag of this Crystal Attract and a bag of the Stress Protection crystal litter and mixed the two. My cats will use this litter but I don’t know how they are! This litter is so incredibly dusty (worse than clay litter!) that it nearly chokes me out twice a day when I scoop the litter box and stir the crystals to absorb the urine. And speaking of urine absorption, that is a joke with this litter. Sure, the yellow color of the urine goes away with each stir but the odor!!! This litter DOES NOT eliminate urine odor. The litter box reeks of urine and I don’t know how the cats can stand it! I would have to completely dump the litter and deep clean the litter box every time I scoop just to eliminate the odor and that defeats the supposed purpose of crystal litter. I’m going back to the trusty Dr. Elsey’s clumping clay litter.

Crstyl Att

Was so excited to try this litter! Put it in clean box yesterday. As i had read, covered it w/about 1/8 " of litter we have been using -- Dr. Elsey's Ultra. Good thing my cats have 2 litter boxes, as only one of two will even go into this litter. I am now scooping it out for trash. It is harsh on their feet; don't know if this is problem or if they object to smell -- some indications of this. Idea that this is dust free --not my experience; triggering asthma for me. Getting ready to call for special delivery order of original litter.

My fav litter

To my shock there was virtually zero tracking, and that's rare for my cat bc she loves dumping out all her litter everywhere. For one cat this litter is perfect. Like other comments say it is rather dusty but only when you first pour it into the tray. My cat has had no problems with this litter.

My girls new litter

I was naturally iffy about a new litter but was glad I went with Dr. Elsey's Cryatal Attack! I have a larger plastic storage-type container for the litter box, [bigger than a normal litter box], and this one bag fills it to the perfect amount. It's been a few weeks and there is no odor and the crystals haven't all turned yellow. I've tried a few 'famous' [lol] name brands and this formula is the best by far. I was also skeptical about crystal cat litter but now I'll never use any other. I am a - or - my girls are a forever fan! Thank you Chewey for offering this cat litter.

Don't waste your money

This last batch is so dusty, I'm unable to breathe. I couldn't imagine what it might do to my cats. I've purchased before as Dr. Elsey's Long-Haired Cat Formula & was really happy. This was supposed to replace but fails miserably. Crystals are the only litter Gracie will use. On to find another brand, I hope.

bad packaging

When i got my shipment the other day it sounded funny. come to find out about 1/3 of 2 bags had spilled into the box. I found the tear it is in the bottom seams of both packages. I retaped them and put them away. then I found the mess left on the front porch. the box had leaked as well . Litter pellets everywhere. I suspect the fed ex driver was not to happy either. Point is the package does not support the weight of the kitty litter.I hope this helps make improvements.

Dustier than my usual clay

I have a cat litter in my bathroom, and my bedroom for one cat. I was hoping to transition into a crystal Litter with the hopes of minimizing some of the dust that I inhale specifically in my bedroom. After pouring the Crystal has a introduction mix with my clay letter I noticed that I had a lot more dust this time then I would with my regular clay. Honestly I would say try pretty litter over this litter if you're wanting crystals as I know that pretty litter is less dust then this one if that is the reason for transitioning. I will let you know if my cat even takes to this litter

Cat hates it

My cat wont touch it. Its Also pretty dusty, it hangs in the air for a while afterwards which was unpleasant as it was in my bedroom and I was trying to go to sleep.
