WhT is the difference between this Long Hair Litter and Dr.Elseys respiratory relief?
Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2019
The Long Haired Litter is made specifically for cat's with long fur. It will not adhere to the cat’s long fur and it will not color the coat. The Respiratory Relief Clumping Clay Litter helps control respiratory disease in cats because it is low in dust and hypo-allergenic with no plant proteins, perfumes or deodorants.

Is this litter flushable?
Answer by ChewyOct 27, 2017
This cat litter should not be flushed in toilets or disposed of outdoors in gutters or storm drains.

What is the difference between the long haired silica gel litter, the senior silica gel litter and the respiratory relief silica gel litter?
Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
The Senior Litter is a small particle silica litter that is infused with hydrolyzed herbs to draw cats to the litter box. The small particles give it a soft texture, which is ideal for older cats or those with sensitive paws. The Long Haired Litter is not as fine as Senior and won’t adhere to the cat’s coat. It is also infused with hydrolyzed herbs to draw cats to the box. The Respiratory Relief is infused with stress-reducing herbal essences, which can be an important factor in controlling Feline Respiratory Disease. All Dr. Elsey's silica formulas are low dust, non-toxic and hypo-allergenic and do not contain perfumes, deodorants, perfumes or plant proteins.

Do you need the pee pads since it is non clumping?
Answer by ChewyJan 12, 2020
It's not recommend to use a pee pad with this litter.

Better packaging and shipping

Thank you, Chewy, for a better job of packing my three monthly containers. Using a smaller box so they are tightly packed and not banging around is a good idea. Also, Dr. Esley has apparently fixed the problem of the tears in the bags at the top seam. At least that is my report for now. I really appreciate having the product delivered to my doorstep. I use the cat crystal for my 9 year old Sprinkles and the senior crystal for my 14 year old tripod, Josie. Bebe at 12 uses either.

Good but messy

This was the first Dr. Elsey's product I'd ever purchased. I purchased it for my kittens when they were younger. They were a bit hesitant to use the litter at first. I found that some pieces would be a bit jagged. It worked well for solid waste but a bit messy for liquids. I also found that it stuck to one of my kittens' bottom and his fur. I also thought it was a tad dusty.

has its pros and cons

Backstory: we hate normal litter and we prefer crystal litter. My little black cat had injuries to her paws last October so she’s got sensitive paws and very picky with her litter, the micro crystals are great and my 4 month old kitten also has no problem using it. The pros: fairly well odor control, sensitive cats have no problem with it, easy to scoop poo. Cons: urine isn’t absorbed what seems like at all and the urine pools at the bottom of the box and nothing is worse than the smell of still cat urine ( and that’s coming from a vet assistant, Ive smelled some bad stuff) I have a litter genie and it helps immensely with odor but since using this litter and again it seems like the urine isn’t absorbed, the littler genie has a hard time keeping the smell locked in. May work okay with a potty pad at the bottom of the box to absorb the urine.

Great product!

So far so good. (I haven't been using the product that long which is why I gave it four stars instead of five.) My cats seem to like it and it's quite a bit less expensive than the brand I was using. Absorbs well and is better at cutting down on odors than my old brand.

Doesn't smell

I am so happy I saw the pretty litter commercial and did some research and found this. It's easy to clean out, I don't have an odor lingering in my house and I don't find a kitty litter trail from the box anymore. When I dump the litter at the end of the month, there's nothing sticking to the box like the clumping litter I used to use. My cat also doesn't seem to "root" around as much for a place to go. He likes it and I like the positive changes from the clumping litter.

The only place in town.

I can’t speak for my partner but, this stuff is the cats meow! We have two bars in town, and they’re always very fresh, very clean, and I can’t smell a thing. There’s no dust in the stuff, so I don’t cough, and it works. Don’t forget to tell them that it doesn’t get stuck on my paws either, mom and dad don’t like it when we tracked his dr. Elsies precious cat Crystal silica unscented non-clumping cat litter all over the house,. There is no stink, my nose says it’s great. I think it smells kind of fresh, tickles my whiskers. We are purrfectly Happy, thanks

Ok, better than most

So I am giving crystal silica litters a try. This litter has slightly larger particles like fish gravel. The Senior option has smaller particles. Both are low tracking compared to standard clay or walnut litter. While still a little dusty, does not seem to cover the room just area by box. Very disappointing on odor control. By two weeks, I needed to replace.

Great for 1 Cat but not good for 2

With one cat, this was great. An 8-pound bag lasted 3+ weeks. No odor at all! Some tracking but I didn't mind. Then, I moved into a place with no carpet, and a second cat. The tracking was just too much, and it's such large pieces it was like stepping on pebbles. Also, this type of litter absorbs urine -- which on the upside means you're not scooping out clumps of urine -- but on the downside made me feel sqeamish about the litter tracking. The second cat has stinkier poop for some reason, and the litter can't handle his stink. It needed to be completely thrown out every 7-10 days with 2 cats.

Too costly for male kitties

Male cats have much larger pees then females. I have 2 males. In one week this stunk so bad I had to dump it. $20/week for litter is much too costly. It is as messy as any other litter, and VERY painful to step on barefoot. Won't buy again; back to Tidy Cat.

This stuff is the BOMB!!!! Life changing. I have four foster cats and the old clumping stuff is awful! constantly scooping huge wet pee clumps. Now? just remove the poo. Mind you I have two litter boxes (because 4 cats) yet WOW! no clumps at all and no odor. Well except this litter will make you scoop the poo more quickly yet NO odor from the pee. Game changer. And lasts so much longer than the clump litter. Totally worth the price
