What is the difference between the long haired silica gel litter, the senior silica gel litter and the respiratory relief silica gel litter?
Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
The Senior Litter is a small particle silica litter that is infused with hydrolyzed herbs to draw cats to the litter box. The small particles give it a soft texture, which is ideal for older cats or those with sensitive paws. The Long Haired Litter is not as fine as Senior and won’t adhere to the cat’s coat. It is also infused with hydrolyzed herbs to draw cats to the box. The Respiratory Relief is infused with stress-reducing herbal essences, which can be an important factor in controlling Feline Respiratory Disease. All Dr. Elsey's silica formulas are low dust, non-toxic and hypo-allergenic and do not contain perfumes, deodorants, perfumes or plant proteins.

WhT is the difference between this Long Hair Litter and Dr.Elseys respiratory relief?
Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2019
The Long Haired Litter is made specifically for cat's with long fur. It will not adhere to the cat’s long fur and it will not color the coat. The Respiratory Relief Clumping Clay Litter helps control respiratory disease in cats because it is low in dust and hypo-allergenic with no plant proteins, perfumes or deodorants.

Is this litter flushable?
Answer by ChewyOct 27, 2017
This cat litter should not be flushed in toilets or disposed of outdoors in gutters or storm drains.

Do you need the pee pads since it is non clumping?
Answer by ChewyJan 12, 2020
It's not recommend to use a pee pad with this litter.

Dustier than my usual clay

I have a cat litter in my bathroom, and my bedroom for one cat. I was hoping to transition into a crystal Litter with the hopes of minimizing some of the dust that I inhale specifically in my bedroom. After pouring the Crystal has a introduction mix with my clay letter I noticed that I had a lot more dust this time then I would with my regular clay. Honestly I would say try pretty litter over this litter if you're wanting crystals as I know that pretty litter is less dust then this one if that is the reason for transitioning. I will let you know if my cat even takes to this litter

SO DUSTY, But no smell

I found that this lotter was AMAZING at not smelling. Now because the pieces are biggish your cat isn't reqlly going to be able to cover their poop that I didn't find that to be a problem. It also genuinely does not smell like pee even after weeks. Here is the downside for me, this litter caused my asthma to flare HARD. Because it is so insanely dusty I would have to carry the litter box outside to scoop the poop and stir the litter. I legitimately couldn't breathe.

I had high hopes

I found that it didn't last as long as I had hoped, about 10 days before it needed to be changed out. My cat didn't seem to care for it even, he would meow before getting into the box - I believe that was from the dust that creates when he moves the litter around. I just found it to be too dusty and didn't last long enough to keep using it.

Not as good as Fresh Step

I tried this alongside Fresh Step Crystals and while the first week was fine, this brand had a noticeable odor much sooner than Fresh Step. I wish this would have been more comparable since they have the auto ship discount, but Fresh Step gives us a full month odor free vs the less than 2 weeks this brand did. We have 4 boxes for our 3 cats and scoop/stir multiple times a day. It may work better for a single cat household.

Where Have You Been all My Life

The cat litter I have used for a decade was discontinued This was a recommended replacement. I could not be happier. Cats went to it right away, no transition. Low dust and great odor control. The only con is the tracking, no worse than any other litter I have used.

Decent Enough

I was getting Pretty Litter, but moved and wanted to switch to a slightly cheaper alternative. I ordered two bags of this litter. The first bag was very dusty (I could feel and smell the dust in the air as soon as I poured it out) but I was hopeful that it was just a bad bag. The second bag was just as bad. I haven't had this problem with other non-clumping litters, which was one of the main reasons I switched from clay to silica. The dust did settle a bit, but my cat likes to dig in the litterbox before and after doing her business and that will stir it up a bit. Other than the dust, the litter doesn't smell, and I don't mind the size of the crystals because they don't get tracked around quite as much as smaller crystals. It does look gross after a few days but still does it's job trapping odor. If you aren't concerned about the dust, this is a good choice.

Great Clay Alternative

I have two cats and three litter boxes in my 1100 square-foot apartment and no one can tell I have three litter boxes. I have used both small silica litter and this silica litter and I prefer this larger silica to the fine silica as it does not put nearly as much dust in the air. I don’t notice a smell as in some other reviews however when it is time to change the litter, there is a strange smell. Which happens with most all other litters. This litter also doesn’t track as much as the fine silica or clay litters. I have a long hair with very furry paws and this litter doesn’t end up on my couch like the other litters I mentioned. I recommend this litter for those who do not want a dusty litter area and a smelly house.

Cat Crystal

Best crystal cat litter. Absorbs very quickly, contains odor well. Be sure to follow directions and stir it daily to promote balance.

The best litter to exist

The odor control with this litter is INSANE! I live in a studio apartment and the litter box is right by my front door and can never smell a THING. Kitty likes it too! Used with disposable litter boxes/change once a week!

Nope. Frisco's is better

I prefer Pretty Litter, but too $$. Tried this and didn't like. Cats track the big crystals all over. Frisco's fine crystals work better.
