Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Senior Litter absorbs urine and odor on contact and traps it inside the crystals, keeping a cat’s genital area clean to help prevent urinary tract infections. Its small particle size and fine dust also coats and dehydrates cat feces to reduce odor. Precious Cat Senior is cleaner and hypo-allergenic, as it contains no wheat, pine, corn and paper litters. Each bag contains a free Litter Box Solutions Booklet.
Key Benefits- Helps prevent kidney failure and urinary tract infection

- Pour one inch of Dr. Elsey's Senior into a clean litter box.
- Remove solid waste daily and rake crystals to ensure freshness. Litter does not form scoopable clumps.
- A single litter box filled with Dr. Elsey's Senior can handle multiple cats but we recommend using more than one litter box if you have more than one cat.

- Refill with one inch of Dr. Elsey's Senior.
Additional Instructions

- Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
- Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.
- Pour Precious Cat into a clean litter box, using half as much as you would with a clay based litter.
- Top off the Precious Cat with the litter you are using now, mixing as you add.
- Give your cat time to get used to the crystal texture.
- Once your cat is used to the crystal texture (about one week), empty the litter box completely into the trash, and refill with Precious Cat.

He's been practicing as a feline-only veterinarian for over 35 years, and he found that non-use of the litter box was the main reason cats were mistreated or abandoned. Choking dust and no longer uses box
By Cricket on Feb 20, 2021
This litter being advertised as dust free is absolutely 100% wrong. The dust is so plentiful it’s choking scooping a single poop from the box. The entire room fills with dust when stirring the product and into nearby rooms. It’s awful. Additionally, my zero accident, always in her box, or on training pads, despite complete litter changes, never phased her, zero fecal incidents cat, now refuses to go in her box with this litter. I don’t know how to take advantage of Dr. Elsey’s “100% litter box use” guarantee, but my cat 100% no longer uses her box with this litter.

Better than clay, tracks more than other crystal litters
By ThreeCatFam on Jan 17, 2021
I must have tried a dozen different kinds of litter in the past ten months, after moving to a home without a basement (which is where our litter boxes have historically resided) and searching for a solution to the litter tracking and litter box smell. We have three cats and anywhere from 2-4 litter boxes (2 when we are at home and cleaning them twice daily, 3-4 when we travel and have someone coming only daily). This litter performed better than I expected based on reviews; it is, as other reviewers have noted, a bit dusty as you pour for the first time and as you clean and stir the litter per the directions. That said, I haven't noticed a layer of dust in the surrounding area and don't believe I must have tried a dozen different kinds of litter in the past ten months, after moving to a home without a basement (which is where our litter boxes have historically resided) and searching for a solution to the litter tracking and litter box smell. We bought a bag of Dr. Elsey's to compare to Pretty Litter, as it is a few dollars cheaper. It definitely tracks MUCH more; I find myself dumping the litter mat and sweeping the floor much more frequently than outside the other litter box. That said, in terms of smell and overall performance, it is definitely on par. One bag has lasted twelve days for three cats so far (with another box in use), but it is definitely near the end of its effective life span. … more

Life Changing Miracle Litter
By Alphachloe on Jan 13, 2021
We adopted an elderly cat with PTSD and various medical issues who has to be kept away from our other kitties. She wouldn’t use her litter box and was urinating all over our room. I’d pretty much given up after months of purchasing multiple litter types and was resigned to covering everything with puppy pads for the remainder of her life. We changed her diet, bought supplements and pheromones, and she finally seemed able to control her urine, but was still only going on the pads. Ordered this as one final attempt to get her to use a box AND IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY. I don’t know what kind of magic this is but I am so so grateful.

Doesn't last long with heavy wetters
By PrintsGarysMom on Jan 11, 2021
I'm in search for an absorbent litter for my male cat who makes massive pee clumps. Previously I've been loyal to World's Best green bag. He is an old man set in his ways and loves going in the same spot in the box and occasionally gets his feet and body wet. I deeply desired for this crystal litter to be the answer to my prayers and magically make his loads of pee disappear from the existence by simply stirring daily. I was very wrong. This lasted about 4 days until I tossed it for resembling a rancid slushy. Also extremely irritating to the sinuses. I will continue my search.

Pass on this one...
By Lisa on Jan 3, 2021
I bought this when when the Dr. Elsey's Respiratory Relief litter I had been buying was sold out. I figured it made more sense since I have senior cats that don't have respiratory issues. I'm not sure why since they look the same, but this litter is so so SO bad. Hands down the worst crystal cat litter I've tried (and I've tried a lot). There is zero odor control and somehow it makes the usual cat smells even worse. It barely lasts a week, the other variety I could get a little over two weeks with. It's incredibly dusty. Everything in the room was coated in the dust which has never happened before. I can't think of a single good thing about this litter. Pass.

Very Little Odor Control
By 88Carlita on Jan 5, 2021
Cool idea, in theory - I enjoy the thought of only having to scoop poop, and our LitterGenie did not fill up as fast. I love that this litter doesn't track, but it is quite dusty. Our cat is a heavy peer (prone to UTIs) and I found her box to be smelly in a matter of days, even with stirring up the crystals. This is NOT good as she is very particular about having a clean box - not worth the cost, having to replace the litter weekly, or having her pee elsewhere because even she can't stand the smell. One bag did show up ripped and spilling everywhere, Chewy promptly sent us another one when asked!

Amazing Litter
By RothgebCo on Dec 29, 2020
Over the years we have tried all kinds of cat litters. Clay, Pellets, Straw, etc..., but it's always the same. After a few days you have that "odor" even if you scoop daily. We saw an ad for a name brand crystal litter and went to the website for information. Holy cats! they were so expensive. We love Chewy, so we looked to see what they had to offer that was comparable. Voila!, Dr Elsey's Precious cat unscented non-clumping crystal cat litter was just like the name brand at a lower price. We trust Chewy, so we gave it a try. Our 5 cats took to it right away and we don't have that "odor". It is so amazing! Bonus: now we can see if there is anything medically happening with the color changing Over the years we have tried all kinds of cat litters. Clay, Pellets, Straw, etc..., but it's always the same. Buy this if you hate breathing
By Rory on Jan 18, 2021
I have no idea how effective the product is because it immediately filled our 2 bedroom apartment with dust. My cat started sneezing and it was noticeably harder for me to breathe as well (no preexisting health conditions). I tried to give it some time to settle but it was just unbearable. I've used crystal litter before, but nothing like this. They weren't kidding when they said it was fine.

a cut above the rest
By PhillyCatDad on Feb 15, 2021
It knocks out odor better than anything I've bought at the store before. It also leaves far less dust and mess around the litter box and lasts longer because of it's hyper-absorbing ability. No clumps. I highly recommend this litter.

Awful product
By Catmom on Jan 12, 2021
I ordered this product because one of our kittens that has allergies to litter. I had no idea it would be the consistency of sand and have enough dust to choke you when you clean the litterbox. Not to mention it does not stay in the box, it's just terrible to deal with. I wouldn't recommend this litter even for healthy cats.
