Precious Cat Classic...this is Dr. Elsey’s original litter and is very popular with cat owners who want a hard clumping, low tracking litter. It features a larger, denser particle that stays in the litter box better than fine grain litters. It clumps very hard and will not break apart in the litter box. Clumps that break down leave small pieces in the litter box. The small pieces left behind are odor. The better the clump, the better the litter!
Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.
Feeding Instructions
Transition Instructions
Pour Precious Cat into a clean litter box, using half as much as you would with a clay based litter.
Top off the Precious Cat with the litter you are using now, mixing as you add.
Give your cat time to get used to the crystal texture.
Once your cat is used to the crystal texture (about one week), empty the litter box completely into the trash, and refill with Precious Cat.
Instructions
Place about 3 inches of Precious Cat into a clean, dry litter box. This depth allows your cats to dig and cover their waste naturally.
Scoop out waste balls daily using a curved, slotted litter scoop. Throw away waste.
Add Precious Cat as needed to maintain three inches in the box. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling the litter box.
Additional Instructions
Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.

What is the major difference between this one and the Ultra Dr Elsey's litter?
Answer by • Jan 16, 2019
Precious Cat Classic is Dr. Elsey’s original litter and is very popular with cat owners who want a hard clumping, low tracking litter. It features a larger, denser particle that stays in the litter box better than fine grain litters. Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Cat Litter is a unique for mulation that combines the heavy non-tracking granules of Precious Cat Classic with a medium-grain clay. The result is an excellent clumping litter that prevents moisture from reaching the bottom of the tray while providing a clump that will not break down, and is perfect for multi-cat households.
Our cat is almost 7. I'd love to switch to a new litter (unscented and dust free). Would you recommend mixing his old litter with the new for a few days to a week or more so that he may get used to it and be more likely to use it? Open to any other suggestions too....

We always recommended transitioning your cat when going from one litter to another. Transition Instructions 1. Pour Precious Cat into a clean litter box, using half as much as you would with a clay based litter. 2. Top off the Precious Cat with the litter you are using now, mixing as you add. 3. Give your cat time to get used to the crystal texture. 4. Once your cat is used to the crystal texture (about one week), empty the litter box completely into the trash, and refill with Precious Cat.
I have a cat with sinus issues. The respiratory relief litter does help a little, but for the quantity you get, I wasn't sold. (Just my preference, I'd highly suggest it for other users) However, dust-free and unscented is still on my list for litters. My question: would this be helpful for my cat?

This was a transition from the Litter Attract for a newly adopted stray. It was time for her to try another formula because of the cost. This litter works well, clumping very firmly, leaving no odor. Depending on what side of the pan that is used, when the litter has completely dried, it may stick to pan. A little extra scraping in necessary. Like every litter I have tried, there is some scattering because my cats are enthusiastic diggers and kickers.

Bag ripped a little
I haven't tried it yet, but the bag seems to be old and weak since it has some tears and there was some litter scattered in the box. Thankfully it was only a little bit of litter loss compared to the whole bag. I ordered 2 litter bags (original and ultra) that came in different boxes. This one (original) was in a box with a litter Genie which may have gashed it from rubbing around or possibly the litter punctured its way through or maybe the handler has too reckless. The litter bag (ultra) in the other box was in tact and had a cardboard sheet to divide the litter bag from the other product in the box so either the original bag is older and weaker, its litter is sharper, or it wasn't handled as well as the other litter bag.

Best Cat Litter EVER
I have shared my home(s) with cats and small, litter box trained dogs for most of my 67 years and the Dr. Elsey's brand cat litter is the absolute BEST I have ever used. I currently live in a tiny 600 sq. ft. apartment with a litter box used by 2 cats and no one knows the litter box is even here. I have no odors and I only clean the box once a day! As with all litters, you are going to have a certain amount of litter tracking on the floor, but it isn't quite as bad with the Dr. Elsey's brand. I highly recommend this brand of liiter.

Changed Formula?
I used to buy this litter years ago, and it seems like the formula changed. I noticed it seems dustier than it used to be...I have a dusty film on flat surfaces.

Won't buy again
Litter only lasted about a week. Cats seemed to prefer the tidy cats over this one. This litter is very, very dusty.

Product Change
This product has been change. The formulation and/or source of this litter has changed. I find small wood chips in it, which has NEVER been in it. The litter color is also somewhat light brownish. Let me say that a lot of the "issues" our babies may have are not due to some kind of "sickness" it has A LOT to do with the litter. Think about it, they are ingesting it every single day. The product that is use to clump is being ingested. For a long time this Classic formula was the only one that did not constipate my babies. Now with this added thing (wood or whatever it is) it is causing extreme constipation on my cat who has NEVER had constipation. It also changes the color of their poop. I wrote the company an email and within seconds, it seems they responded saying this is not true. Well it is! So disappointed now I have to find something else. It is also important to mentioned that this is not the only litter that has made this change. It seems like just about every clay litter is adding this light brown stuff to it's litter, which is causing harm to our fur babies' tummies!! Which causes us to worry and not to mentioned vet bills!!!

Litter not great
This litter is OK if you're in a pinch. Always comes busted open for me in the Box in the Box. Not great if you have multiple cats, I have 3 cats and it doesn't take it doesn't take away any smell or help with any smell. Also very dusty and my cat has asthma.

Do not recommend this product!
Worst cat litter ever! The clumps adhere to the box, nearly impossible to get them out. Plus a really bad urine smell comes from the box. I do not recommend unless you invest in a jackhammer!
