    Loved this for my chicks

By FitnessCookie on Oct 3, 2021

This spring I ordered 26 chicks of 7 different varieties from Murray McMurray Hatchery. I fed them the Dr. Pol Pearls for their whole babyhood until they were ready to switch to layer pellets. I've had chicks before, but fed crumbles. I like to feed pellets as adults, so initially purchased this food because I thought it would be an easier transition. The chicks loved it, and they grew into the most beautiful feathers, and they have all been incredibly healthy and happy. I appreciated that it wasn't dusty, always fresh, and easy to feed. I'll always get this feed for subsequent batches of chicks!

    Bag ripped

By Spilled on Jun 25, 2021

I noticed that the box was leaking food pellets. When I opened the box I found the 30lb bag of chicken food torn and spilled all inside the box. It looks as though the bag was cut but since I used my hands to open the box I assume it was sliced before it was packed. I find it hard to believe that the person loading this didn't notice it spilling. I'll probably stick to buying my chicken feed at the local feed store. It costs more but at least I don't get a half empty bag.

    Chick starter food

By Furbabiesmom on Aug 11, 2021

Very impressed with the starter food for chicks. The pearls were much smaller then the adult food which is needed for the little chicks. Very impressed with Dr. Pols food.

    Cool pearls and no dust!

By Sammie on May 25, 2021

I was looking for a starter that my chicks could eat and not use as a dust bath. I love the pearls and not having waste but I might as well have waste because my feather friends do not want to eat it. My daughter and I bought chicks at the same time she fed hers a different starter and hers doubled in size, I believe it’s because of the difference in feed. I will not be purchasing this again.

Chick Feed has strong chemical smell

By KKimrey on Jun 17, 2021

The smell is so strong my chicks would not eat the feed. Tried feeding it to my older chickens and they refused to eat it also. Since they would not eat the food, I offered to donate it to a local rescue farm and they refused it because of the smell.

I love Dr Pols feeds but...

    By Brandy72 on May 5, 2021

First off, I feed my mini donkeys Dr pol feed and also my goats love his goat food but I started my chicks off on a purina crumble but quickly switched to Dr pols chicken pearls as soon as I could get my order. I mixed the old feed with the new to start with so no digestive issues due to switching but they sort out the dr pol and won’t eat it. I’m very disappointed

    Good food for chicks

By Angie on Apr 30, 2021

My chicks are about 8 weeks old and seem to like this food (I started them on it at about 5 weeks old, they were getting a crumble). It took them a few days to adjust to it but after that they are gobbled it up. My only complaint is the bag is not resealable.

    Chicks don’t like it.

By Tsimon on Apr 19, 2021

I love Dr. Pol and thought I’d give it a try. The pellets seemed a little big for my newly hatched chicks, so I tried smashing them. They were so hard! The chicks don’t really like it. They’ll eat it if that’s all they have but prefer my old brand.
