If you believe your pet is experiencing issues related to littr change, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian. The handling of cat feces can sometimes transmit a disease call toxoplasmosis. Pregnant women and immunosuppressed persons should avoid contact with litter and feces. Always wash hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter. For further information, consult your doctor. Unused cat litter poses no threat. For overall water quality, please do not flush cat litter in toilets or dispose in gutters or storm drains.
Pine
As with all litter changes, gradually add our pine pellets into the litter you are currently using. This will allow your pet time to adjust to the change.
Once fully adjusted, place 1 - 1.5 inches (or more) of pellets in the bottom of the litter box. Remove the urine soaked litter each day and dispose or compost. Remove solids and dispose. Animal consumption of any litter should be avoided.
I wish there was consistency, with my first order I was really happy to finally get a litter with long pellets as it is supposed to be, so it does not track, sadly this new shipment it feels like I got cheated, I feel as if they sent me another brand with the bag of Dr Pol, pellets are super small which means they are being tracked out the litter box when cats exit, I really hope next order I place is not the same as this one, pellets are supposed to be long
I was a Feline Pine user for years until they sold off to Arm & Hammer. Fortune still smiled because the original formula was then available for years at Trader Joe's for a great price. It was discontinued due to a pricing dispute, I was told. Then a tour through several unsatisfactory pine litters until I ordered Dr. Pol's. I've used it for a week now and am 100% satisfied! Very relieved as well. The pellet size is shorter than Feline Pine, but it seems to work great, the litter stays dry and so does the sawdust sifted into the pan below (I use a pine pellet litter box with a sifter tray). Odor control is great as well. The only difficulty I had was wrangling two 40lb bags of litter into my house!
I bought this litter after having used recycled paper pellets for years. I thought it might save me money. But this litter sucks. It breaks down so fast. I clean my rabbit's box twice a day. All over his area there is tracks of this litter. I have to vacuum twice a day just to keep up with the mess. I thought maybe I needed to add more litter for the top to stay dry. I tried that and still the top of his litter is all broken down and even more mess in his area. Would never buy this again. Recycled paper litter is much more expensive, but it's worth it to save me all this time in cleaning.
I've always said who's cat wants to potty on hard pellets!? Earth friendly I seek. You can't add a little to current litter 4 adjustment period. I tried but had to empty entire box each time. I decided after wasting a full bag of clay litter, all or nothing. My cats were not impressed!! So I added lavender crystal as we always use only lavender scent. Nope. After 4 hrs of no use, they started staying out of box but digging in it. Dirty looks 4 me! Yes my cats R very vocal, facial etc. 6 hrs dad finally gave in. He dug from out of box 1st, in/out in record setting time. I laughed. So I left it. In morning all I could smell was a dirty hamster cage!! Bad. I tried to scoop, not possible. I have spare scoops, took a 99cent 1 & cut out dividers so pellets fell thru. Nope. You have to empty entire box each time. Now this is actually great litter. I wasted a lot b4 I figured it out. If you are not home for long periods, I don't recommend. Definitely don't use if your on vacation & a friend is checking in. The trick is to put a 1&1/2-2" layer. Then dump entire box when soiled. A great feature is that nothing sticks to the box! Clay is awful about the bottom of box having to be scraped every scoop time. To me that's the best part as mom insists on going directly on bottom. Then yes they are hard, bag is heavy. But when urine is soaked into pellets & every drop is completely soaked up! The pellets expand into fluffy weightless piles. Magic. It took me 2 wks to get a perfect system. I don't work outside the home so I'm able to monitor boxes, plus momma won't use a soiled box. Instead she sits & yowels until this mom cleans that box. Yes spoiled, monsters(shh I made them). Dad still digs after he uses for easy 20min as the can't bury poop. This could be a downfall for your cat. I have to get up & seperate him from box. It's great at 3am. Cats hide feces to keep clan safe. They are inside cats but have 5 kids. I sum it up to this litter is magic, healthy for the earth, easiest to clean I've ever used. Can be frustrating for cats. Must be emptied multiple times a day, completely dumped. As I said very dirty hampster cage otherwise! You can go thru a lot! Depending on # of owners & boxes many may not be able to afford it(myself included). I love it. I hope that the directions are updated. As Dr Pol supports product I'm going to reach out to him as well. I took videos forgetting that I'm unable to attach. That's a shame.
I knew it would be a toss up if my cats would actually take to this litter. My four cats range in age, the youngest being 7 months and the oldest being 5 years old. Immediately I liked the litter - no dust, no weird artificial smell. But the test would be if my cats would take to it. I'm currently on day 4 with no accidents in the home, and no hesitancy by any of my cats to get in their litterboxes and go potty. Granted I'm still using a bit of their clay litter (underneath the pine pellets) but in a few more days I plan on just going completely pine pellets. The pine pellets help keep my home fresher and is very easy to shift through and clean what I need to clean. Plus my cats don't mind it at all. Easy A+
Purchase this expecting it to be a alternative to the tidy cat breeze wood pellets. As my cat used it the pellets turned to sawdust which does not help with the filtering of the urine that should be going to the pad underneath Just made a big mess. We'll need to continue my search for a better alternative Pellet.
I've used Feline Pine for 15 years, if not more, and the price has gotten out of control. Dr. Pol pine litter is essentially the same exact product. Smells and looks the same, disintegrates, and scoops the same. In fact, I see no difference between the 2 types of litter. If you're seeking more bang for your buck, then Dr. Pol is an excellent value.
Love this product it so great I bought the sifting liter box with it for easier use no digging in it just lift and shake and and dump the powder out left in the bottom no more stick on cat liter in the box no dust my bathroom floor stays much cleaner so happy to have found this and the videos online really helped me get everything I needed to make this the easiest process possible
I had previously used two popular litter brands, but I was extremely tired of the dust and tracking of litter everywhere. I was also tired of the expense because neither of these other litter brands were cheap. I was hesitant to try this, but I introduced it very slowly to my two males by gradually putting more and more pellets in their boxes. It took a solid 3 weeks, but they are both now using the pellets without issue. No dust, no tracking, and no odor. I also find it MUCH easier to clean the boxes. I have one sifting litter box that they use, and a much smaller sifting box that I use to pour the other litter box contents into to sift the sawdust out and pour the clean pellets back into the litter box. I remove the poop daily, but I only have to sift every two or 3 days.
3cats I have 1 box. Use small amount of litter. Scoop before bed&work.change daily. Little waste this way. No tracking. Always fairly fresh caused changed. I keep in bathroom and if cat goes when I home.I get rid of it to garbage . Use sand litter when away for a few days etc. great product reasonable price
