I had previously used two popular litter brands, but I was extremely tired of the dust and tracking of litter everywhere. I was also tired of the expense because neither of these other litter brands were cheap. I was hesitant to try this, but I introduced it very slowly to my two males by gradually putting more and more pellets in their boxes. It took a solid 3 weeks, but they are both now using the pellets without issue. No dust, no tracking, and no odor. I also find it MUCH easier to clean the boxes. I have one sifting litter box that they use, and a much smaller sifting box that I use to pour the other litter box contents into to sift the sawdust out and pour the clean pellets back into the litter box. I remove the poop daily, but I only have to sift every two or 3 days.
Love this litter. No more litter box odor and dust. I have 7 kitties and 9 litter boxes/cabinets throughout the house, the garage and backyard catio. I transitioned my kitties from clay litters to this pine pellets litter for cats by using one inch of this pine litter in the bottom, then one inch of the nonclumping clay on top on the litter boxes. I used a very wide slotted metal scoop to remove the poop solids daily. The transition was a breeze! Be cautious about using heating-stove wood pellets, these can contain high level of wooden resins that are toxic to cats.
When I opened the bag, it smelled so fresh and clean. I was looking forward to this smell in my cat room. I have 4 litter boxes in my main cat room and 3 more litter boxes on another floor. I only put this is 2 of the boxes in the cat room. I also topped it with a bunch of their regular litter. After 3 days there was only 1 set of poop in each box and tony bit of pee. I have 5 cats. I kept it clean and my cats are very good, they just obviously didnt like it. When I pushed my hand down on the pellets, they felt like they would be awkward and uncomfortable for the cats feet to step on, possibly a little painful.
Would not buy again because it's not fixing the odor like it Say's we have to empty it out every other day due to the pee smell but it does work for poo because it's right on top of pine stick's pee goes to dish and it's smells so Im sorry I will not be ordering that again,I would show picture but husband is not home and I'm to little to lift the half a bag so that's why I can't take a photo of the bag but it will show I ordered it but never again we will stick with scoop a way it climbs the pee and there's no odor like yours Dr. Pole because yours just goes to dish but keeps the smell
Kittens had no problem adjusting to the pellets. Pellets to sawdust, that's fine, seems to work as expected. Pine smell overpowers the litter box smells, thats good. The only dislike is trying not to scoop out the clean pellets when scooping out the feces. There is the potential for wasting a lot of the litter if I don't take quite a bit more time to ensure I'm only scooping the pooh. It's not a deal-breaker, just an observation.
After they discontinued Yesterdays News I have been on a venture for a new pellet cat litter. I was so excited to find this but.......Pros- smells good, masks the smells. Cons....my cat urinates often. The pellets break down to sawdust with urine. It is extremely hard to scoop the litter in the box with so much sawdust (to seperate the dust from pellets). I find I have to clean the box 2 times a day to keep up with it. I wished I would love this litter, but I think that I need to find another alternative. Also, my cat has a lot of allergies to dust and I think he's been "snoring noises" more often and louder since using the litter.
I have used Feline Pine for years and loved it, but last few months, I could not stand how quickly pellets were breaking down and the smell of ammonia from cat pee was unbearable! Tried Dr. Pol cat litter and love it! I have multiple cats using one large.
This product is a total fail -- the litter is like rabbit pellets and even when mixed with his regular litter he wont go in the box. I waited a week to see if he would try and tried adding more of his usual NOPE -- Very dissapointed and on my limited budget a hardship.
I'm going to continue to use this. I was thinking of possibly trying the other Dr. POL litter instead of the pellets. Love it smells like lumber not a farm animal or cat pee from the clay. I have tried several non clay litters & this one is a keeper. My cat has glaucoma so he doesn't see hardly anything. I did catch him laying in the litter box with this, but I'm sure he liked the smell. He does use it , he is over 15. The only time he has problems is because of his sight not the litter
You can imagine the stink if I am not on top of taking care of their litter box. I have tried all the other litters, and I recommend giving Dr. Pol pine litter a go to keep your cats happy and healthy. Pine litter does help immensely to keep the smell under control as long as you scoop the poop.
