  • Putting meat on a growing puppy's bones, finally!

    By on Top 250 Contributor

Concentrated protein, and 500kcal/cup, plus only 21% carbs! My young Aussie male is currently in the very peculiar growth stage, where he's pretty much full height, but not anywhere close to "filling out," so he resembles a rangy, hard working Border Collie (minus the BC tail, and with not anything close to a full male Aussie double coat and profuse bloomers). While he's still a growing pup, he's incredibly active, so the calories get burned off in running, chasing stuff, annoying the daylights out of his older female housemate, chewing inappropriate stuff, and making mischief (in other words, typical 9 month old male Aussie!). This food was well accepted in our rotation, and we will be returning Concentrated protein, and 500kcal/cup, plus only 21% carbs! • My dog loves it!

She is very picky and was getting skinny because she wouldn't eat her Purina pro plan formula. I went out on a limb and purchased Dr. Tim's momentum highly athletic food and she is back up to a much better weight!

  • Concentrated, digestible nutrition.

My very active 20 month old German Shepherd looked very lean and boney. Despite being fed five cups of high quality kibble per day, he could not get over 70 lbs. for six months. After switching to 50% Dr. Tim's he is up to 75 lbs. in a month and looks great. Well worth the price.

  • Effective for weight gain

    By on

Effective in adding weight on my son's skinny rescue Heinz 57...when we can get him to be still long enough to eat. He isn't the biggest fan of the flavor but will eat with encouragement, but that's pretty much all foods.

  • Perfect shipping everytime. Love this food.

This food is for very active dogs so I only use it when hunting hard. It takes a little time to switch because it's so rich and you don't need as much.

my dogs itched on it but that doesn't mean that its not good. was using instinct rabbit but wanted to try momentum b/c of the endorsements that it got. not for every dog tho. however the customer service is about the best out there.

  • As hoped for

    By on

Fortunately, just like other Dr Tim's products we have used we, including oh lab Bella, are very pleased. Bella is very active all year round, and in order to keep her weight on, 60 - 64 lbs, we didn't want to keep increasing volume of her Kinesis or Pursuit food so we are transitioning to the higher calorie Momentum. She loves it. Kibbles are even smaller than above two products probably for easier absorption of nutrients.

  • Dog loves it...

    By on

This is a great food, my dog loves it and the transition was simple. My dog seems to be drinking more water with this food and he burps more. Not sure why. I switch to Momentum since I wanted a high calorie food. I was feeding 5 cups a day of his old food. Now, I can feed 3.5 and get more calories for him. He needs to put on weight. I like that the ash level is only 6% on this food. And the company said 94% of the protein is from animal sources. 4 stars only because my dog is having to drink alot more, meaning there is probably more salt in this food than other???Otherwise, it is a great food.

You can't go wrong with any of Dr Tim's products! They were formulated through his many years of experience as a vet and working with competitive dogs; one of very few foods out there that has real world testing to backup their product. Many of the top Iditarod teams use his kibbles in addition to raw. All formulas are made and sourced in the USA with low ash meats. The quality for the price is amazing! Momentum is one of the lowest carb foods on the market, with over 90% meat based ingredients and no plant protein fillers (legumes, pea protein, pea fiber, potato protein, etc). I would say this formula and Pursuit are comparable in nutrition to many Orijen and Acana products but at a much better price. No they are not grain free, but at only 24% carbohydrate there isn't much in the formula, and again it isn't contributing to the total protein like most grain free fillers do. I chose Momentum for my dogs because they are active and I like the low carb content. I have a very picky 55 lb lab mix who scarfs this food down with no extras. My other dog is a 70 lb and growing GSD/husky pup; he has sensitive skin and a very sensitive stomach but this food works for both issues and is one of very few that doesn't give him loose stools, which surprised me since he usually doesn't do well with poultry! The calcium in this formula and all of Dr Tim's kibbles is low, which is important for growing large breed pups. At nearly 600 kcal/cup this is one of the most calorie dense kibbles on the market; a little goes a long way, which not only saves you money by feeding less but also results in less yard cleanup! I am very picky when it comes to what I feed my dogs; I've spent countless hours researching different options and I've tried many with my pups. This kibble works amazingly for both of my dogs' individual needs, plus it's very high quality and is one of the most affordable high tier brands out there! Oh, and did I mention that the manufacturer (Ohio Pet Foods) has never had a recall?? If you have any questions or concerns Dr Tim is available to answer questions himself via email or on his Facebook page; never heard of a pet food company's founder doing that before, but I wish more would! Momentum is my food of choice, but you can't go wrong with anything from Dr Tim! He clearly a stands behind his product, and the results I've had speak for themselves; bright eyes, high energy, soft coats, and small firm stools. As always the price and ability to auto-ship from Mr. Chewy straight to my door is the icing on the cake :) two big paws up! … more
