My dogs nails are really over grown. The vet can only trim the tips leaving them still long. Will this tool make the quick sore if it touches it??

If the grinder comes in contact with the quick of the nail it can cause irritation.

The Dremel 7300-PT Kit comes with everything you need to get started, so you can start trimming your pet’s nails in minutes.
The sanding piece doesn't fit into the collet. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to purchase another collet?

Four different size collets, to accommodate different shank sizes, are available for your Cordless Rotary Tool. To install a different collet, remove the collet nut and remove the old collet. Insert the unslotted end of the collet in the hole in the end of the tool shaft. Replace collet nut on the shaft. Always use the collet which matches the shank size of the accessory you plan to use. Never force a larger diameter shank into a collet.

Better than others we've tried

Our new Sheltie didn't really like the dremel type tool we used previously. The faster speed and increased noise bothered her and she was resistant to its use. This tool offers more speed options and she tolerates it much better, since it is quieter and the slower speed means less heat build up.

My go-to nail tool

I've had several Dremels over the years, as well as two corded grinders of different brands. Dremel cordless grinders are easy to use, good price point, and have everything you need to take good care of nails. I just recently got this set and I'm really impressed with its power. Highly recommend!

...BOTH happy...

This arrived right away but with a dead battery. The booklet says it will charge in 3 hours, but mine took over 5. I was about to give up on it when it finally showed that it was charged. BUT...it was worth the wait! I turned it on a couple of times that evening and the next day for my dog to hear it and sniff it ;) then the next morning I used it on his nails and he didn't mind a bit. Doggy and I are both happy with the purchase!

Perfect for me

I’ve been using this product for about six months. I used it almost every day to get my dog used to the noise and feeling. It has a high and low speed. It is cordless which is so convenient and has a relatively long battery life. I can do a handful of grooming sessions on a single charge. As with any grinder, never push down too hard or too long as the nail can get hot and be painful for your pet. This grinder does not come with a guard so it’s not for skittish or nippy pets who might hurt themselves trying to bite it

Really Needs a Guard

I purchased this Dremel Nail Grinder because I did not like the last one I ordered. This one really needs a guard. I'm actually a bit scared to use this one because 2 out of 3 times that I've used it, the nail kept slipping off. One time, the nail slipped off and went under the grinder making it grind the top part of the nail. It could be that I just need more experience with it, but it is hard to get experience when I'm scared I will hurt my dogs and my dogs are now scared of it. Since using this nail grinder, the grooming training has needed to take several steps back. One of my dogs was at the point where I could get through one paw, before needing to take a break, and now I can't even get through one nail without a break. The other dog, I was able to get 2 paws done without a break, and now she starts shaking and drooling when she sees the tool. This is probably a great tool for a lot of people, but does not work for me. I was really hoping this would be the last one I would have to purchase.

I used a regular corded dremel tool for years on the dogs nails, this is cordless and quieter.

Quick and easy to use

I used this on my Husky, it was quick and easy to use, what usually takes about 30 minutes on trimming her nail and being scared to hurt her or over trim, it took about 15 minutes to trim her nails with the grinder without fear of over cutting trimming

Some tips for all! :)

We use this at my grooming salon, i highly recommend! I read a few comments about some issues, when the sand paper strip comes off when in use it means its not tightened all the way and you just need to tighten it to keep it on! The assembly may be a bit confusing, just try to keep everything in order when taking apart :) also not every dog likes a grind! Its loud, puts pressure on the nail, and vibrates their leg, i wouldnt like it either. It takes time to get them used to it and some dogs just simply dont like it no matter how much theyre exposed to it. Also the battery life! This has one of the batteries where if you charge it constantly or keep it charged after it reaches 100% it will destroy the battery life, just take it off the charger as soon as you notice its done. All in all i highly recommend this grinder, its better than some of the others ive used.

Works well but

This is a pretty good nail file. I’ve been working in grooming salons for a year now, and this dremel does it’s job. It comes with really rough heads, and files thick dog nails really well, however the battery dies pretty quickly. I would recommend 2 battery packs, but if you’re doing nails that don’t need a lot of filing, it will be fine.
