The replaceable carbon filter gets rid of tap water odor and taste, and 50 ounces of water are constantly aerated to maximize the oxygen absorption in every sip. Pet parents have a reason to love it, too: it's dishwasher safe!

  • The free-falling stream keeps water fresh, encouraging pets to drink more
  • Replaceable carbon filter removes bad tastes and odors
  • Receiving ramp reduces splash of falling water
  • Completely disassembles for easy cleaning and is dishwasher safe (excluding pump)

†Capacity is calculated by total volume. When using container, choose a capacity greater than what you need to prevent overfilling and spills.

I have had my original Drinkwell Fountain since the only place I had ever seen it was in the Sky Mall magazine on a "Continental Airlines." I now only have 1 cat and I clean it religiously once a month; with more cats it does need cleaning more often. I have not replaced anything, although, at some point they offered a 75 oz. reservoir that I purchased and use; which usually needs to be refilled once in the month. The cleaning process is a bit time consuming but if you soak it in Dawn liquid soap and extremely hot water first, the scrub the tiny places, with a soft tooth brush it does seem to go fast and more thoroughly. • Easy to clean? Not!

    By on

I have health problems so my standards might be a little different than others, but this fountain is great when clean which is about two or three days. We have three boys between 12 and 20 pounds ( yeah he’s huge only a little flab). Their use of it creates several cleaning impediments. I bought the cleaning kit for it and that helps, but what doesn’t is all the little spots that ick will settle. It’s too much work for me to keep up with. I fell back on a clean bowl each day routine. It’s a shame because the cats love the falling water.

I had a Drinkwell Original Pet Fountain 50 oz. that worked well for at least 5 years. It still "worked" when I had to discontinue its use because it had become so incredibly noisy. So when I decided to get a new one, after looking at all those on the Chewy site, I decided to go with the one I was familiar with. Oh, it works well and is very quiet. HOWEVER, it is NOT the same. For the 1st one, the pump was entirely enclosed and could not be accessed. For the last century we have looked to "new" models of appliances to be more user-friendly, more automatic, self-cleaning, more efficient, more economical to run, etc. For every piece of machinery there's a warning that if you open it up/take it apart I had a Drinkwell Original Pet Fountain 50 oz. that worked well for at least 5 years. Until this water fountain, that is. For this, if you do NOT take the pump completely apart and clean it every 2 weeks, you void the warranty. I would give this a 5 based on the running of the machine but I'm giving it only a 2 because it is going to require almost 1 hour a month to clean it & reassemble the pump -- yes, you have to dis-assemble the pump -- take apart many parts which did not want to come apart. That could mean up to 6 hours a year, or 30 hours of MY time to clean it IF it lasts for 5 years. Part of that time is cleaning the plastic housing and changing filters but cleaning the pump just does NOT make sense.. … more

  • Love the concept

    By on

Love the concept, easy to clean. Had read reviews about it being noisey and it is louder than I had hoped. Louder than an aquarium. Also not .much difference in water flow with the adjustment. 1 out of 4 cats uses it, but not the 1 who does drink from the bathtub faucet. Will have to look into different model due to noise and flow

  • Nice fountain that attracts my pets

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I loved this fountain at first because it has a soft trickling sound and my dog and cat loved drinking from the falling water but I don't think it filters properly because there is constant spittle floating in the water like it is not being filtered properly. I was constantly emptying it and refilling it.

  • Works great; but cats won't use it

    By on

My cat drinks out of the bathroom sink. I thought this would help with my water bill because it mimics the sink faucet. Not sure if there is too much stream even on the lowest settung, or if he doesnt like the water in the bowl. My other cat likes to watch it but wont drink out of it. Basically I bought a cat toy.

  • Too Noisy For My Cats

    By on

We were unable to use this fountain because of the motor noise. The cats were afraid of it and it was so loud it had to be unplugged at night so as not to wake us up. Also the water flow does not have enough adjustment. Would like to return but not sure it can be since we did try to use it.

  • Drinkwell Fountain

    By on

Cats liked fountain. It lasted 2 months past warranty. Hair gets wrapped around motor. Frequent cleaning needed. Replacement motor almost as costly as fountain. Will replace with same only because have multiple packs of filters sitting here.

  • Quite noisy

    By on

The motor is quite loud. I put a folded towel under it and that helped a bit. Also the water flow was too much for my cats even when adjusted to the lowest setting. I also bought the Drinkwell 360 and it's way better

This is like my old one except the motor is different. It is noisier and I can't adjust the water stream. My cats still like it!
